Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you've seen your doctor and that they've been treating you. If they suspected throat cancer, I am sure they'd do the necessary tests to check on that diagnosis. Here is a link to information on throat cancer including the symptoms that people typically suffer. https://www.mayoclinic.
331673 tn?1199354285 I was given a choice to either quit smoking and hope that we were early enough to have caught it, and hope that my throat repairs itself, or end up with throat cancer and all that goes with it. I quit smoking. My following check ups have been all good. I am LUCKY, because I didnt wait, I have lost to many friends and family to cancer, (on my husbands side even non smokers). So please dont wait, get to a Doctor. I may not be here today if I didnt Jump to it.

Avatar n tn I quit at the age of 43. I have had a deep husky voice for many years now, probably due to smoking and having GERD really bad in the past.I have noticed on/off for several years that I get a sharp buzzing pain on the left side of my head in the throat area. It happens once in a great while where I will be fine one minute and then all of a sudden I get this sharp buzzing pain, then after a few seconds it goes away.
Avatar m tn i have had this sore throat for several months. i can recall first having it when i started smoking and drinking heavily about 7 months ago. since then it's been on and off and sometimes accompanied with mouth sores, fever, neck and ear pains and loss of appetite. my doctor put me on some antibiotics, amozicilin and peniciline at different times and gave me medication for the fever. while the mouths sores and neck pains resolved, the sore throat, ear pains and the fever remains.
Avatar f tn So I'm 20, started smoking about 5 months ago. Just got little bumps on my throat with no pain.
Avatar f tn Throat cancer, also known as oropharyngeal cancer, refers to tumors that occur in the tonsils, base of the tongue and upper throat. Smoking and alcohol use have been associated risk factors, but in recent years throat cancers related to the sexually transmitted virus human papillomavirus (HPV) have been on the rise. HPV is an STD transmitted by oral and genital sex.

Avatar n tn plus, i was reading about symptoms somewhere and the site said that these symptoms were common for people 50 and over... and me, being over analytical, am not sure if they meant that throat cancer in general is more common people for 50 and over... or if symptoms vary due to age and these were the symptoms associated with this age group. anyway, any advice would be great appreciated...thanks and p.s. im aware that im an idiot for smoking with hpv.

Avatar f tn Sounds like you have irritated your vocal cords/laryngitis secondary to smoking and the excessive talking.
Avatar m tn Smoking in particular, and perhaps heavy drinking have been shown in studies to be associated with increased risk for cancer of the throat and oral cavity. Increased risk however do not make this at all common. The vast majority of persons who have had oral sex with multiple partners, who smoke and who drink heavily will still not get oral cancer. In your case you have begun to address the potential co-factors of smoking and drinking. No you need to not worry so much.
Avatar n tn As far as I know, lung cancer rarely, if ever, presents as a throat mass. However, heavy cigarette smoking does increase your risk of developing cancer in the mouth and throat areas, so my first advise for you is to quit smoking now. The bump on the back and sides of your mouth may just be your palatine tonsils, which are actually lymph nodes normally found in that area. You may wish to have a doctor look at your throat just to make sure you don't have anything serious.
Avatar f tn I am 28 years old and have been smoking since I was 13 years old and smoking maijuana for about the same amount of time. I've been smoking a little more lately due to stress. This morning I woke up with a sore throat and ears hurt and I just coughed up a little blood in my phlegm. Please tellme it's not cancer.
Avatar m tn The Larynx cancer because my chance of it was only multiplied by the untreated GERD and smoking. I do also have a symptom of Larynx Cancer as I feel like I have a lump in the right side of my throat now but it comes and goes, from searching on the net I don't have any of the other symptoms and definetley no change in voice. The Barretts Esophogus because of not treating my GERD for so long.
Avatar m tn Hi, i'm 29. I have been a smoker for 7yrs, I recently have felt constriction after smoking cigarettes. I decided it was best to quit smoking. I haven't smoked in over 2 weeks, however now I feel a different feeling in my throat pressure against my throat (choking) type. I also noticed redness on my soft palette with a single white spot in the center. I visited a family Dr, he tested for strep, it was negative. He believes it could be viral my temp was 99.

573038 tn?1235394545 First off stop smoking! It's a horrible habit and you can get really sick from smoking. My grandma is dying of lung cancer because of smoking. You need to have your lungs check out, I'm suprised they didn't already. Have they checked your throat to make sure its not throat cancer? My grandma had that same lump feeling in her throat and it ended up being throat cancer. I'm not saying you have cancer, but please get all these things checked out.
Avatar m tn m male 21 and a month a ago or so i have had this pain inside my neck at first i thought it was due to maybe a cold i had gotten better of but the cold and also diagnosed with bronchitis in the lungs is now long gone and i still continue to have pain in my throat lately i have notice recently i have to consistently clear my throat and notice wheezing and coughing but only a few times though put the day and sometimes i feel my voice change.
Avatar f tn My husband has angioedema for nearly 4 weeks. His tongue and throat are constantly swollen but get worse as the day goes on. Also reflux and swelling around body with pains in the back, hips and legs. He only eats eggs, meat as everything else aggrevates reflux or he cant swallow. He has no hives, vomiting or diarrhoea so i don't think it is food related. He had instant reaction around spray paint so i think it is allergy to a chemical. He smokes all day.
6194758 tn?1379516487 Enlarged lymph nodes can also produce swelling on the neck externally. The risk factors for throat cancer are smoking or using smokeless tobacco and use of alcohol. If you do not have symptoms like trouble breathing or speaking, pain or ringing in ears, difficulty in swallowing etc it seems unlikely to be related to throat cancer. See the concerned specialist and get evaluated at the earliest. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
