Avatar n tn Here's my take, for what it's worth. Calories aren't a very good guide to weight -- they're a factor but how you metabolize your food is more important. Also realize that most of the people in the world who have been studied for having the healthiest lives eat a lot of carbs -- they aren't on high protein diets. We all know that vegetables are the healthiest foods and should make up the largest portion of our diets, but they are all carbs.

Avatar m tn A good way to know if you are over cooking veggies is if the water you cooked them in resembles the color of the vegetables before they were cooked. Steaming is the best way to do vegetables (aside from raw of course). If you don't have a steamer, just fill the pan with 1/2 inch-1 inch of water. Cover, and cook on the lowest setting. Check on the veggies after 10 minutes or so.

Avatar f tn A low-carb diet will give you a flat belly faster than any exercise. The paleo diet is the healthiest form of low-carb diet, IMO. I would not go on a low-carb diet that was composed of low-carb junk food. If you eat a paleo diet, you are only eating real, whole foods (no junk food) and no grains. It's a lot of meat, vegetables, and healthy fats.
Avatar f tn I have a lot of the same problems, one of the best things that helped with the brain fog, was I got allergy testing done, and really cut back on the foods I'm allergic to and got a lot of those foods out of my diet. I would suggest to anyone to get the allergy testing done, and really cut back on the sweets because it stimulates the candida in the body. I highly recommend the the book: The Yeast Syndrome.

Avatar n tn for example i will have an egg sandwich with oj+celery for breakfast, an orange or grapefruit for lunch and the egg sandwich with oj + celery for dinner. 2 liters of water for the day. i can maintain that diet for about a week, then i will break it , the temptations of sweets , plus positive or negative events get me wanting sodas and sweets. then my will power will get low and it takes months to regain and start the diet. what should i be studying that will help stay on a diet?
