Avatar f tn Can the beta blocker Propranolol work on giant liver hemangiomas in adults? It looks to be working in reducing the size of infant hemangiomas. What are other options? I have 4 in my liver & the largest is 14cm. It grew because of pregnancy. I'm in good shape, 31 & 135 ilbs. My doctor referred me to a surgeon & didn't really want to discuss propranolol.
Avatar n tn Very large hemangiomas can cause symptoms such as pain, nausea, or enlargement of the liver. Rarely, larger hemangiomas can rupture, causing severe pain and bleeding into the abdomen. There is usually no contraindication to other medications and it is best that you talk to your doctor about this also for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Approximately eighty percent are located on the face and neck, with the next most prevalent location being the liver. Although hemangiomas are benign, some serious complications can occur. Hemangioma's never develope as an adult but one misunderstanding is that all hemangioma's go away by the age of 10 very few do not. Many people say that they are a vascular malformation but they are infact a hemangioma.
Avatar f tn What kind of imaging did they do to discover the fatty liver and hemangioma? Do you know how large your hemangioma is? Typical, hemangiomas are left alone if they are under 5 cm and not causing you any symptoms or pain. For fatty liver, usually the doctors would want to figure out what is causing it, if not diet or alcohol related. Low fat diet and exercise are highly recommended for fatty liver, along with abstinence from alcohol.
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn liver hemangiomas and gallstones cause daily fatigue? This discussion is related to liver hemangiomas.
1079987 tn?1258040916 Calvarial hemangiomas account for 20% of all hemangiomas and are most frequent in the frontal or parietal region (11). These lesions arise in the diploic space and cause expansion that often involves the outer table to a greater extent. At radiography and CT, a calvarial hemangioma commonly appears as a lytic lesion with a pattern of radiating, weblike or spoke-wheel, trabecular thickening (Figure 5) (5,10,11).
Avatar m tn Female hormones may promote the formation and growth of hemangiomas. Hemangiomas, although referred to as tumors, are not malignant and do not become cancerous. Hemangiomas are not unique to the liver and can occur almost anywhere in the body. What are the symptoms of a hepatic hemangioma? Hemangiomas usually are small, measuring only a quarter inch in diameter, but they can be several inches in diameter or even larger.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar f tn Hemangiomas are reportedly present at birth and aren't noticed until they're seen when tests are done for something else.
Avatar n tn I am a 38 years old female and have recently been diagnosed with a rare skin condition, 'Eruptive Capillary Hemangiomas'. I cannot find out anything about this skin condition. The Doctor who saw me couldn't tell me anything about it other than it is rare and they had never seen it before. I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me anything about it.
19070278 tn?1471892750 First, you need to confirm the liver lesions are hemangiomas with CT and/or MRI. If they are hemangiomas, then those are benign.
Avatar n tn They put possible benign hemangiomas on results. I followed up with my Physical Medicine doctor and she does not feel further test need to be ran and I am a little concerned. I have read what a Hemangiomas is but they are not sure and do not seem to be wanting to do further testing. I am not sure what to do from here. My physical therapist wants me to continue therapy but I am still haveing pain in the same spot.
Avatar f tn Could hemangiomas cause the problems in both hands, both feet and back? Is it possible that the findings in the cervical spine could actually be lesions from MS? I realize that both hemangiomas and lesions from MS show has hyperintense foci on MRI and five hemangiomas at different, non-adjacent levels is a rare finding. I do realize that hemangiomas can cause problems, but there are no compression fractures or soft tissue masses in these areas.
Avatar n tn Second biopsy was done by radiologist that told me That he could clearly see that what I had was hemangiomas. Said he saw my previous cat scans and MRI and said I had 7 hemangiomas all along and there had been no change in size the whole time. He said they don't like to do biopsies on hemangiomas because of excessive bleeding potential since hemangiomas are nothing but clusters of blood vessels. So for 2 months I was worried about cancer.
Avatar f tn Hi- I had a MRI on 1/24/09 of the thoracic spine and they told me I have what they believe are 8 atypical hemangiomas. I have been so scared since I have read that multiple hemangiomas are rare. Please let me know what you have found out. I am due for another MRI in July to compare.
Avatar f tn When symptoms occur, they can be vague and nonspecific. Vertebral collapse and epidural and/or extraosseous extension can result in back pain. Neural compression can produce paralysis and/or paraplegia or bladder and bowel dysfunction, whereas radicular symptoms occur from nerve-root impingement”. Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar f tn So I wonder since two different people read/wrote the reports and the one of cervical he says the lesions are most likely Hemangiomas, but i wondered if they could be ms lesions and if not is it anything to worry about and what's Isointence mean? Please,Any info would be very helpful!
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.

Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar n tn Leg weakness and numbness are a couple of my symptoms and my doctor asked me if I have a histoy of hemangiomas and she explained to me that they can be located on the spine and cut off blood supply, which may be the cause for my leg weakness and numbness. I did have a hemangioa, which appeared within 24 hours, removed from my ribs about two years ago, but my dermatologist was not able to get it all because it had tentacled down into the rib tissue.
