Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up.
I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms?
I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug?

4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.

When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences.
We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day.
For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg.
I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime.
Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime?

The Symptoms for the over production of HCL, and the under production of HCL, are virtually identical. The both cause Reflux, Belching, Bloating, Abdominal Discomfort, Irrecular Stools, etc. Unfortunately many doctors are prescribing Proton Pump Inhibitors or pH Blocking Medications to their Patiens which is making them Achlorhydric.
Apple cider vinegar is a way to cleanse the body and balance acid and alkaline, but it doesn't increase stomach acid on a permanent basis. Betaine HCL is used for gallstones, not for stomach acidity, since it doesn't do that either. The reason is that neither stays in the stomach, so it can't permanently alter the acid/alkaline balance. The caution about HCL is more about using pure HCL food grade.

i just found out that i am pregnant but when i went to the doctor he had exam me and he say im 7 weeks pregnant but since i dont know my last menstrual cycle he had me go for a sonogram they could not see anything . so he did a blood test for my hcl level and it came back 1080 now he wants me to go for another sonogram tmrw . is there something wrong please help ..
Have a bad headache and no pain meds at home. Have a little of the Buprenorphine hcl left from when my cat was neutered. It was given to him orally at a dose of 0.3cc. I looked it up and it looks like a "human" drug also, but am wondering if I am able to take this.

Thanks for your encouragement. It wasn't tile cleaner. It was muriatic acid which is industrial grade hcl. I was just worried (and still am a little). I do know that the stomach contains hcl (my undergrad was a double math bio major but thanks)...
I hope I don't worry this much about EVERYTHING during my pregnancy...
My mum was on nexium (acid blocker) for 6 years and her health worsened. She had severe GERD. Now she takes betaine HCL with pepsin and digestive enzymes. Her health improved drastically and her GERD went away in weeks. She takes these daily with meals. Betaine HCL with pepsin only with protein meals.

If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously.
