Common Questions and Answers about Premarin breast cancer

premarin

Avatar n tn I also have been taking premarin for many years. My questions are how likely is this to be cancer. could it be a fibroid tumor or is that unlikely? Should I start lining up a oncologist what should I expect?
Avatar m tn I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
771665 tn?1235155092 My ovarian oncologist wanted to give me the estrogen as he said my reduced brain function was the worst he had seen. However my breast cancer oncologist wanted to make sure it didn't impact on my previous ER+ breast cancer so she suggested also giving me the Tamoxifen as well. Both of these oncologists work together. I don't now if my ovarian is also ER+ but if it is, this was rather is stupid thing to do, giving me estrogen.
Avatar f tn I had complete hysterectomy at age 24 and went on HRT till the age of 50. I never gave birth to children. Had 7 misscarriages. Have fibrocystic breast. Had reg mammograms for 22 yrs. Although 3 yrs went by before my dr and I realized it was time. I had my mammogram 2 days ago and they called me this morning setting me up next week for spotcompression, sonogram and told me not to worry! Sorry a little late for that. Estrogen only, ( premarin 1.25 for 8 yrs) then 2.
Avatar f tn The thought today is NOT to take it at all or if absolutely necessary the lowest dose for the shortest length of time. It does increase your risk of developing breast cancer and most Dr.s choose NOT to prescribe at all. I would have a serious discussion with your Dr. about this if I were you. Regards .....

Avatar f tn I am 60, post menopausal. Mom had breast cancer but we were told for me not to worry for it was from taking premarin after the age of 60. No other family history. I had a mammo about 2 yrs ago..was told something didn't look right so my GYN ordered a spot compression and ultrasound and both test showed all was clear. This years mammo was normal. My breast are very sore to touch and the nipple especially so.No discharge and it is hard to wear bras so I wear a sports bra.
Avatar f tn From the beginning I was warned by my physician of the possiblity of breast cancer associated with estrogen, especially since I was so young when I started taking it. During an annual visit, the nurse practicioner felt a lump in my breast and scheduled me for a digital mammogram . After reviewing the images, the radiologist suggested an ultrasound.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply. I guess the possibility of the mass being an ovary bothers me because I am BRCA II positive and am at high risk of ovarian and breast cancer. I don't think I am worried about it being cancer because a recent ultrasound showed the mass was smaller and doctors have assured me that it is not cancer. If I have a retained ovary and I am 51 years old, wouldn't the ovary be producing less estrogen at times/some months?
Avatar f tn Theoretically, estrogen dominance can contribute to breast cancer especially if you have a breast lump. Some studies show that estrogen alone does not increase the risk, but all I can tell you is that many women have developed breast cancer(including my sister and I) because of it. It is recommended that all women taking this therapy should have a complete and thorough discussion with her physician, keeping in mind her personal specific risks and benefits.
691935 tn?1421027090 My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. As with most women related issues, we don't count. I started Premarin after a total hysterectomy at age 35. Anyway, I'm experiencing heart palpitations, heat ache, body aches, night sweats, and loud ringing in the ears.
2176548 tn?1340677817 Anyone who has been on Lupron, Premarin and Medroxy ever experience sore breasts and increase in breast size? My boobs have gotten bigger and are like constantly sore!!! Hurts to take off my bra!! Please help!!!
1514006 tn?1290398635 I have multiple health issues, I am 45 years old, high blood pressure, total hystrectomy on high dose premarin 5 years, heart stent 2004, several breast lumps include under arm, undiagnosed MS, 2X cervical fusions, 36 lesions on brain to name a few. Lately if I touch one of the lumps it sends stabbing pain to face and temple right side. Any ideas. Don't want to say anything because my boyfriend lost his wife to breast cancer.
Avatar n tn I don't have a clue, but Mary should know about this. I will send her an email. Most oncs don't recommend HRT after cancer surgery though. Was there any sign of cancer other than inside your ovaries? Was it one or both? What did you Dr stage you at? You are lucky as only 20% of us have the cancer completely contained within the ovaries and that is a big plus.
778044 tn?1299542934 Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.
Avatar n tn With my family history (Mom having had Leukemia twice, breast cancer and melanoma, 2 of her sisters having cancer - 1 breast, 1 lung, her Dad having died of bone cancer and my brother dying of kidney cancer) they are concerned on what they will find when they get in there and feel that more surgeries may be needed in the future.
Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
Avatar n tn The Premarin (conjugated estrogen tablets) you were taking did not cause your breast cancer, but could have provided an added stimulus for the growth of your cancer.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.
Avatar f tn So, she said that doing LEEP or crytology is not an option. She gave me Premarin Cream to use 3 times weekly and wants me to come back in June for a repeat paap smear. Any ideas on alternate treatment?
1194973 tn?1385503904 Use an effective form of birth control while you are using this medication. Premarin can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. This medication may also slow breast milk production. Do not use if you are breast-feeding a baby.
502807 tn?1210437416 old with a hysterectomy, on 3mg of premarin. Had a biopsy in February this yr. of the right breast, where a solid mass was found by mammagram, it was benign. Should I be concern about this?
