Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
691935 tn?1421027090 Well, that stinks. Sorry this is such a hard adjustment for you. Does your doctor have any supplementation ideas? You don't want cancer . . . so if the risk increases greatly, that is reason to get off the premarin but I'm sure your body is craving the hormone! Hope you are doing okay. Oh, and I have ringing and the sound issue in my ears from time to time. I have inner ear tube dysfunction. I've had it long before menopause and my hormonal issues.
Avatar n tn I don't have a clue, but Mary should know about this. I will send her an email. Most oncs don't recommend HRT after cancer surgery though. Was there any sign of cancer other than inside your ovaries? Was it one or both? What did you Dr stage you at? You are lucky as only 20% of us have the cancer completely contained within the ovaries and that is a big plus.
Avatar m tn I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
778044 tn?1299542934 Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.
Avatar n tn I also have been taking premarin for many years. My questions are how likely is this to be cancer. could it be a fibroid tumor or is that unlikely? Should I start lining up a oncologist what should I expect?
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I WILL NOT take premarin. luckily I work at a pharmacy and get the pharmicist's opinion on medication.
1112541 tn?1286311213 70s they found that women who were taking Premarin were having a huge increase in endometrial and uterine cancer, which is why they introduced Prempro, a combination of estrogens plus progestins that would help prevent this from happening. And this can happen regardless of whether we are taking "natural" or "synthetic" estrogens. They both cause similar effects on our bodies.

Avatar f tn I was suppose to go for exporitory surgery for the mass that was found on my right ovary but they found it to be cancer and opted, with my consent, to do a total hysterectomy. My doctor, who is a OB/GYN, preformed the surgery and after placed me on Premarin. I was worried after finding out all the health issues around premerin, especially the blood clots, since my mom died of that several years after her hysterectomy.

I had my mammogram 2 days ago and they called me this morning setting me up next week for spotcompression, sonogram and told me not to worry! Sorry a little late for that. Estrogen only, ( premarin 1.25 for 8 yrs) then 2.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Fallopian tube cancer at the age of 48. I had a complete hysterectomy (removal of uterus, fallopian tubes, and both ovaries. Then 6 rounds of chemo. After chemo, I had a CT scan. The CT scan showed a 2 cm size soft tissue structure behind the bladder. A follow CT scan 6 weeks later showed the same thing.
