I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.

My ovarian oncologist wanted to give me the estrogen as he said my reduced brain function was the worst he had seen. However my breast cancer oncologist wanted to make sure it didn't impact on my previous ER+ breast cancer so she suggested also giving me the Tamoxifen as well. Both of these oncologists work together. I don't now if my ovarian is also ER+ but if it is, this was rather is stupid thing to do, giving me estrogen.

I had complete hysterectomy at age 24 and went on HRT till the age of 50. I never gave birth to children. Had 7 misscarriages. Have fibrocystic breast. Had reg mammograms for 22 yrs. Although 3 yrs went by before my dr and I realized it was time. Anyone who has been on Lupron, Premarin and Medroxy ever experience sore breasts and increase in breast size? My boobs have gotten bigger and are like constantly sore!!! Hurts to take off my bra!! Please help!!!

I have called the radiology group that I always go to and ordered the last 2 mammos, spot and ultrasound to take to the breast specialist. Is that enough info?

partial mastectomy, 24/35 lymph nodes removed and all clear except cancer in entranceway to 1st lymph node I had chemo, radiation, and then Tamoxifen for 5 yrs. The thought today is NOT to take it at all or if absolutely necessary the lowest dose for the shortest length of time. I am 73 years old I can feel the lump on the bottom of my right breast. It feels hard and kind of like a chord I discovered this 3 weeks ago. I had a breast exam 3 months ago and nothing was felt. based on the size could it be this was caught early? I also have been taking premarin for many years. My questions are how likely is this to be cancer. could it be a fibroid tumor or is that unlikely? Should I start lining up a oncologist what should I expect?

The Premarin (conjugated estrogen tablets) you were taking did not cause your breast cancer, but could have provided an added stimulus for the growth of your cancer.

ve been on and off of Premarin and Estradial since that time. From the beginning I was warned by my physician of the possiblity of breast cancer associated with estrogen, especially since I was so young when I started taking it. During an annual visit, the nurse practicioner felt a lump in my breast and scheduled me for a digital mammogram . After reviewing the images, the radiologist suggested an ultrasound.

He did not prescribe any type of progesterone for me to take but told me to go ahead and take the Premarin. Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes. All of which I thought was monopause. I don't know what to do. I am so scared and confused. I had an echocardigram done and the cardiologist said there were some abnormalities.

Thank you for your reply. I guess the possibility of the mass being an ovary bothers me because I am BRCA II positive and am at high risk of ovarian and breast cancer. I don't think I am worried about it being cancer because a recent ultrasound showed the mass was smaller and doctors have assured me that it is not cancer. If I have a retained ovary and I am 51 years old, wouldn't the ovary be producing less estrogen at times/some months?

Most reports say that estrogen alone does not cause breast cancer, but if one does get the cancer, the estrogen feeds it and makes it grow faster. Guess that is what happened to me. My cancer showed up between yearly mammograms. It was aggressive lobular, 5 CM , 14 nodes positive, making it stage 3. I am in treatment now (Chemo) and doing fine. I was suppose to go for exporitory surgery for the mass that was found on my right ovary but they found it to be cancer and opted, with my consent, to do a total hysterectomy. My doctor, who is a OB/GYN, preformed the surgery and after placed me on Premarin. I was worried after finding out all the health issues around premerin, especially the blood clots, since my mom died of that several years after her hysterectomy.

Hi, just wondering if anyone on here as had to go through a medical menopause in order to stop the production of estrogens which is what some breast and ovarian cancers feed off? I started one using a nasal spray at the start of teh year but did not last the month as it literally sent me crazy. Due to an increase in my ca125 i now have to start it again trying a tablet instead. Any experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

t want to say anything because my boyfriend lost his wife to breast cancer. He brushes off my MS symptoms and calls me lazy and always in pain SOMEWHERE, and there are people alot worse off than me. Maybe he's right, but I'm a little scared.

I had been reading past comments (not sure if it was this sight) about a rare, very aggressive, very resistant breast cancer that has no lumps but is in a sheet, and causes a burning sensation in one or both breasts. I was starting to think that all of the vitamins, low fat foods, broccoli, apples, etc. was for naught. Thanks for allaying my fears!! Also, thanks for the idea to take away the pain. I was trying cold compresses, but it wasn't helping. I'll try heat.

I was told it was safe to take premarin and then move over to estrodial (which is a bioidentical hormone). I was stage 1A.....I have since developed what they think is an ovarian remnant cyst that could have very well been brought on by the HRT - estrogen causing it to grow. I have also been told to stay away from the over the counter remedies, as soy, black cohash, etc can mimic estrogen. There is a connection with ovarian cancer and estrogen.

I was on 6 months of Lupron and ended in March. Still waiting for my period to return. I was just given Premarin and agyestin to try and "jump start" my period. Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.

With my family history (Mom having had Leukemia twice, breast cancer and melanoma, 2 of her sisters having cancer - 1 breast, 1 lung, her Dad having died of bone cancer and my brother dying of kidney cancer) they are concerned on what they will find when they get in there and feel that more surgeries may be needed in the future.

I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. So, she said that doing LEEP or crytology is not an option. She gave me Premarin Cream to use 3 times weekly and wants me to come back in June for a repeat paap smear. Any ideas on alternate treatment?

Use an effective form of birth control while you are using this medication. Premarin can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. This medication may also slow breast milk production. Do not use if you are breast-feeding a baby.
