He did not prescribe any type of progesterone for me to take but told me to go ahead and take the Premarin. Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes. I was worried after finding out all the health issues around premerin, especially the blood clots, since my mom died of that several years after her hysterectomy.
I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
I was told it was safe to take premarin and then move over to estrodial (which is a bioidentical hormone). I was stage 1A.....I have since developed what they think is an ovarian remnant cyst that could have very well been brought on by the HRT - estrogen causing it to grow. I have also been told to stay away from the over the counter remedies, as soy, black cohash, etc can mimic estrogen. There is a connection with ovarian cancer and estrogen.
I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried.
I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.
I had complete hysterectomy at age 24 and went on HRT till the age of 50. I never gave birth to children. Had 7 misscarriages. Have fibrocystic breast. Had reg mammograms for 22 yrs. Although 3 yrs went by before my dr and I realized it was time. I had my mammogram 2 days ago and they called me this morning setting me up next week for spotcompression, sonogram and told me not to worry! Sorry a little late for that. Thank you for your reply. I guess the possibility of the mass being an ovary bothers me because I am BRCA II positive and am at high risk of ovarian and breast cancer. I don't think I am worried about it being cancer because a recent ultrasound showed the mass was smaller and doctors have assured me that it is not cancer. If I have a retained ovary and I am 51 years old, wouldn't the ovary be producing less estrogen at times/some months?
So he gave me Provera 10mg for 10 days and tells me to stop taking Premarin. Two weeks later I come back for sonogram, and the findings above is what I see on the paperwork, but, the doctor comes in and says.,have you ever had a biopsy of the uterus? I said I don't think so, he says I would like to do one, your uterus is large and we wanna make sure you don't have pc, or uterine cancer?
I don't want to quote anything I've read, but after putting in "Premarin and Hypothyroidism" and "Progesterone and Hypothyroidism", the articles I've read indicate that Premarin prevents the thyroid from working properly, and Progesterone cream is beneficial. I just wanted to mention this because it may be of help. I am going to look into it further myself.

I was naturally scared it was cancer .So i had a mamogramme and an ultrasond ,and it showed up 5 cysts .The radiogist reassured me this was NOT cancer .He said they were fliud filled cysys because i was on hormone tablets.I was advised to come off the tablets slowly .Since then it has happened to me four times .In fact today i went for an ultrasound as i found another lump ,and they again found two large fluid filled cysts .These were harmless and they were aspirated .

I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound,the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? I take it that you want particulars. I am 60, post menopausal. Mom had breast cancer but we were told for me not to worry for it was from taking premarin after the age of 60. No other family history. I had a mammo about 2 yrs ago..was told something didn't look right so my GYN ordered a spot compression and ultrasound and both test showed all was clear. This years mammo was normal. My breast are very sore to touch and the nipple especially so.
My mom had TAH and after 6 months she started getting a pale pink discharge. The doctors said she had fibroid which became cancerous so they had to perform the hysterectomy, something called lyeomyosarcoma. The doctor checked her in the clinic after 6 months and she had a blood clot the size of a fist that came out straight after the doctors examination. Looked like a dark jelly. OK, so I went to the doctor because I initially had discharge (lasted a day or two) and itching (alot of itching) and a few small bumps on my labia mostly and vaginal area. I suffer from Hashimotos autoimmune disease for many years and was diagnosed last year with Lupus after suffering many years with leukopenia which was caused by the Lupus or the Premarin. I took myself off of Premarin in July 2016 and I feel so much better. My hair is now growing back after losing about 3/4 of it during a Lupus flare-up that lasted over 7 months. My muscle aches are gone and my blood counts are now registering normal.
