I did Peg Intron for 5.5 months and felt lousy for 2-3 days after every shot. Sometimes more so, sometimes less. Everybody responds differently, so it's possible you might get used to it.
Basic odds for geno 1 are about 50/50, but low starting viral load and being female ups the odds a little bit in your favor.
If you're still undetected 6 months after finishing treatment, you can consider yourself cured, though you'll always carry the antibodies and aprox.

I was taking Incivek, ribaviran and peg intron. I had a pre surgery physical today and my EKG came up slightly abnormal than the previous one I had before treatment. My question is can the aftermath of these drugs affect the heart? I'm supposed to have a meniscus repair done on the 27th and my cardiologist suggests I have a CT scan of my heart. Any insight would be appreciated.
s weight is 60 kg and dr. recommend her 80 microgram dose of peg-intron injections with 400mg Virex capsulse. While I have read on Peg-intron literature that its dose is given by weight. For monotherapy use 0.5 microgram/kg/week. For combination therapy 1.5 microgram/kg/week...i think my mother case is combination therapy (injections + capsules).And for 60 kg weight injection dose should be 100 micrograms. Please advise.
So, double-dosing is one such card, but also is switching Pegs -- perhaps to Infergen, as opposed to Peg Intron. Remember, you were still detectible with Peg Intron at week 12 last time Another card is taking a look at your ribavirn/hemoglobin situation to make sure you're on a maximum, but reasonable dose for your body weight and hemoglobin response. Perhaps with the help of Procrit (epo).
06 that just completed a 60 week treatment of Peg-intron and Rebetol. I was undetected at 12 weeks and stayed undetected through out the treatment. Unfortunately, the virus was detected 6 weeks after I stopped the treatment.
I would really appreciate your thoughts on what you think would be the best course of action at this point.

ve heard of switching from peg to infergen during the same course of treatment but that was because the peg was not working effectively. To treat only 3 months for a geno 1 is unheard of even with an RVR. Injecting pegylated interferon weekly and consensus interferon daily plus riba would cause the whites cells, red cells and platelets to crash beyond belief.

Eight years ago when I took the SOC I was told that Pegasys, which was relatively new then was better than the Peg intron which had been available for some time. I was also told by my doctor who was treating a large number of patients at his clinic that he had observed that the Pegasys was more easily tolerated than the other drug.
