PEG-Intron is one of two currently marketed pegylated interferon products for the treatment of hepatitis C, a market that currently exceeds $2.5 billion in worldwide sales. Additional results from SELECT-2 demonstrated the substantial tolerability advantages of Locteron.

Avatar f tn I did Peg Intron for 5.5 months and felt lousy for 2-3 days after every shot. Sometimes more so, sometimes less. Everybody responds differently, so it's possible you might get used to it. Basic odds for geno 1 are about 50/50, but low starting viral load and being female ups the odds a little bit in your favor. If you're still undetected 6 months after finishing treatment, you can consider yourself cured, though you'll always carry the antibodies and aprox.
Avatar n tn Ophthalmologic disorders Decrease or loss of vision, retinopathy including macular edema, retinal artery or vein thrombosis, retinal hemorrhages and cotton wool spots, optic neuritis, and papilledema may be induced or aggravated by treatment with peg-intron alpha 2b or other alpha interferons. All patients should receive an eye examination at baseline. Patients with preexisting disorders (e.g.
Avatar f tn Sorry it was Peg intron rebetron 600 600-3/05 ml kit and 150 .5 ml and 150 .5 ml Peg intron that is exactly what they sent to the insurance company. I was talking to my sister she said at least 800 of rebetol aday.
Avatar f tn It looks like recipients with hepatitis C can receive an organ from someone with the hepatitis C antibodies and do as well as they would with a non-hepatitis C donor," said Dr. Northrup. "That's with careful patient selection.
422881 tn?1257603579 Well, if your HBV DNA wasn't all that high before your Peg Intron, it's not surprising that you would go UND. As long as you stay HBV DNA UND on Peg Intron, your HepB is being managed well. It's obviously the desired outcome. Here's the thing, you have a timeframe for Peg Intron for HCV treatment. I think your doc will stop Peg Intron based on HCV because there's no timeframe for HBV.
Avatar n tn I was taking Incivek, ribaviran and peg intron. I had a pre surgery physical today and my EKG came up slightly abnormal than the previous one I had before treatment. My question is can the aftermath of these drugs affect the heart? I'm supposed to have a meniscus repair done on the 27th and my cardiologist suggests I have a CT scan of my heart. Any insight would be appreciated.
766667 tn?1259865322 Has anyone else experienced post treatment neurological side effects that have NOT GONE AWAY since 2003. I still have the brain fog I had during the Peg-Intron treatment. A neurologist is telling me that the treatment is NOT chemotherapy and could not have caused my symptoms. I have short term memory loss, diminished motor skills and balance problems. I also have insomnia that has worsened after treatment. I forget words and I cannot spell very well anymore.
Avatar m tn Eight years ago when I took the SOC I was told that Pegasys, which was relatively new then was better than the Peg intron which had been available for some time. I was also told by my doctor who was treating a large number of patients at his clinic that he had observed that the Pegasys was more easily tolerated than the other drug.
442340 tn?1326817417 And the second said I was denied Ribaviron because that is only approved for people with hep C using peg-intron or pegasys with geno 2 or 3. HELLO INSURANCE CO....I'm HCV and geno 3!!!! SOOOO FRUSTRATING! Sorry, needed to vent. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
541844 tn?1244309824 I asked my doctor for pegasys over peg intron. He addressed my concerns and told me sx's for me would be similar with either drug and kinetics were similar for both with regard to initial suppression of the virus. I had read about peaks and troughs with peg intron. He said that was dated info. Ok, so we decided to stay with peg intron. Now...about dosage. Can anyone explain why pegasys is one dose fits all and peg intron is weight based? I will get 80 mcg with weight at 114 lbs.
407029 tn?1253992623 I don’t know which interferon you are prescribed, Pegasys or PEG-Intron. Quite often, our insurance companies will cover the cost of ribavirin for a nominal co-pay; however, the interferon is excluded from the Rx side of the plan, but covered under major medical, which is probably why you are seeing the high co-pay. I’d encourage you to call one of the following numbers and ask about their Patient Assistant Plan (PAP).
Avatar n tn Thanks for posting these I found them very helpful in deciding on my husbands third attempt at treating. He has used Pegintron and responded too slow (2 log drop at 13 weeks but too late for Ideal trial) next was Infergen but they had to keep lowering riba and he had a breakthrough. Joe has cirrhosis and his labs are low enough that this is likely our last chance to treat so I sure don't want to blow our last bullet.
335297 tn?1210597884 t have as good as a viral load drop as I did with the Peg-Intron. I had more sides with the Peg-Intron but a bigger viral load drop. I hope for you, that all the rest of your treatment day are sides free.
442340 tn?1326817417 He uses Pegasys and my GI doctor (whom I love) uses peg-intron. My question for all peg-intron users is how bad have your sx been? The doctor I saw today said pegasys seems to have less sx, but of course not all people react the same way. I love my GI doctor and want to treat with him, but am I making a mistake by going Peg-Intron? Thanks for your input. My stats: 26 years old, really healthy, active female, geno 3a, VL 949,000. No biopsy done Thanks!
