Avatar f tn Just got. Call to say the pegysis ready pen is on recall. Anyone else run into this problem?
Avatar m tn Ive been on peg /riba for 12 weeks .now with a new carrier ,they wont cover the pen part of the treatment .all help groups tell me ,I make too much for assistance . Is this the end of my treatment ? I cant afford what they want .
154668 tn?1290115995 I don’t know which meds you’re taking; Pegasys or PEG-Intron, but you might consider calling their patient hotline and bring this up with their educating nurse. From the years I’ve been in here, I don’t believe an *excursion* to room temperature for a day or two will break down the proteins involved. Northern hemisphere=cool ambient temperatures? Better to confirm this with someone authoritative, though :o). Can you ask the flight attendant to put the container in the on board refrigerator?
541844 tn?1244309824 I asked my doctor for pegasys over peg intron. He addressed my concerns and told me sx's for me would be similar with either drug and kinetics were similar for both with regard to initial suppression of the virus. I had read about peaks and troughs with peg intron. He said that was dated info. Ok, so we decided to stay with peg intron. Now...about dosage. Can anyone explain why pegasys is one dose fits all and peg intron is weight based? I will get 80 mcg with weight at 114 lbs.
Avatar f tn I just took my first shot of Peg Intron Friday night, and I got pretty sick, but thank God after I stayed in bed the next day I felt better. Do these reactions happen every time you inject it or does your body eventually get use to it. Also my viral load is only 300 and I have genotype 1. Can anyone give me more information about my Hep C being cured after this treatment or does it ever get cured?
335297 tn?1210597884 t have as good as a viral load drop as I did with the Peg-Intron. I had more sides with the Peg-Intron but a bigger viral load drop. I hope for you, that all the rest of your treatment day are sides free.
442340 tn?1326817417 He uses Pegasys and my GI doctor (whom I love) uses peg-intron. My question for all peg-intron users is how bad have your sx been? The doctor I saw today said pegasys seems to have less sx, but of course not all people react the same way. I love my GI doctor and want to treat with him, but am I making a mistake by going Peg-Intron? Thanks for your input. My stats: 26 years old, really healthy, active female, geno 3a, VL 949,000. No biopsy done Thanks!
Avatar f tn SVR for Peg-Intron plus Rebetol combination therapy is 41% for genotype 1, and 82% for genotypes 2 through 6. Peg-Intron is a reconstituted powder that is dosed according to a person's weight. Roche’s Pegasys plus Copegus: SVR for Pegasys plus Copegus combination therapy is 44-51% for genotype 1, and 70-82% for genotypes 2 through 6. Pegasys is a ready-made solution that is dosed at 180µg regardless of a person's weight.
901131 tn?1293744553 As a result of its controlled-release mechanism, Locteron was dosed half as frequently as PEG-Intron. PEG-Intron is one of two currently marketed pegylated interferon products for the treatment of hepatitis C, a market that currently exceeds $2.5 billion in worldwide sales. Additional results from SELECT-2 demonstrated the substantial tolerability advantages of Locteron.
Avatar n tn Just confirm that she had used Peg-Intron (pegelated) or Intron (simple interferone) previously. I think your mom should consult with good specilaist as he/she will first assess the condition of your mom whether she is in condition to support Treatment or not. seems to be from Pakistan or india ???
Avatar f tn However, there are newer versions called Pegulated interferons (Pegasys or Peg-Intron), which only need to be injected once a week. There is also Infergen, which is most often a daily injection.
335297 tn?1210597884 I found out two weeks ago that the HCV virus is back and so I have begun Week 1 of treatment. My doctor has prescribed Peg-Intron since I had so many side-effects with Pegasys. Does anyone have any experience with both Pegasys and Peg-Intron? I am genotype 1, stage 3, grade 0-1. I took my first injection a few days ago and Peg-Intron completely wiped me out with feel and aches and pains but I am trying to accept what is to come and hope that my experience with the first tratment will help me.
Avatar m tn ve never used them. When I was the Peg-Intron in the past, I never used the pen, I always used the other method of Peg-Intron (a vial or Prefilled syringe - don't remember which it was). It's been a few years since the Peg-Intron for me. One time, I had this Pen-like device for another medication - not an interferon drug and I did not do well with it. I was a device where you pushed it up against your skin and pushed a button and the drug was dispensed with a 'click' sound...
422881 tn?1257603579 Well, if your HBV DNA wasn't all that high before your Peg Intron, it's not surprising that you would go UND. As long as you stay HBV DNA UND on Peg Intron, your HepB is being managed well. It's obviously the desired outcome. Here's the thing, you have a timeframe for Peg Intron for HCV treatment. I think your doc will stop Peg Intron based on HCV because there's no timeframe for HBV.
Avatar m tn I have treated 5 or 6 times, cleared only to relapse each time. Have tried intron A , peg-intron, Pegasys and 72 weeks of infergen and until 6 months ago have been on maintenance therapy. I was a stage 4 with a enlarged spleen. Last biopsy and mri came back a stage 3 and a normal size spleen.
Avatar m tn I finished treatment with Peg-Intron and Ribavirin in 2007, after a 24 week course. I acheived non-detectable levels of HCVRNA after 4 weeks of treatment. I have, however, since relapsed. My current doctor would like to retreat with Infergen and Ribavirin, with the belief that the HCV virus has developed some form of immunity to the pegylated interferon.
Avatar n tn s weight is 60 kg and dr. recommend her 80 microgram dose of peg-intron injections with 400mg Virex capsulse. While I have read on Peg-intron literature that its dose is given by weight. For monotherapy use 0.5 microgram/kg/week. For combination therapy 1.5 microgram/kg/week...i think my mother case is combination therapy (injections + capsules). And for 60 kg weight injection dose should be 100 micrograms. Please advise.
422881 tn?1257603579 "180" is the standard dosage for Pegasys. You state you're on "Peg Intron" which is made by a different manufacturer and dosed differently by weight. The most common forumulations of Peg Intron need to be refrigerated and I therefore assume so does yours since it was shipped in a styrofoam container. The ribavirin can be stored at room temperature. Like in your case, my ribavirin was also shipped in the styrofoam along with the peg.
Avatar n tn I was taking Incivek, ribaviran and peg intron. I had a pre surgery physical today and my EKG came up slightly abnormal than the previous one I had before treatment. My question is can the aftermath of these drugs affect the heart? I'm supposed to have a meniscus repair done on the 27th and my cardiologist suggests I have a CT scan of my heart. Any insight would be appreciated.
215816 tn?1212490407 My husband was much sicker taking Peg-intron than he was daily Infergen. It may be in part because he was depressed with Peg Intron but didn't take an anti depressant but did take an anti D with the Infergen. He never had a violent reaction with the Infergen but did with the first few shots of Peg -intron. He also had lots of fevers on the Peg but not on the Infergen. It just seems to vary person to person. We are getting ready to try Pegasys/Riba/Alinia.
Avatar m tn Hoffman-LaRoche, the maker of Pegasys, and Schering-Plough, the maker of PEG-Intron, each have a patient assistance program for people having problems getting the drug. The number to call is (800) 443-6676 for Pegasys and (800) 521-7157 for PEG-Intron. http://www.atdn.org/simple/pifn.
Avatar m tn Eight years ago when I took the SOC I was told that Pegasys, which was relatively new then was better than the Peg intron which had been available for some time. I was also told by my doctor who was treating a large number of patients at his clinic that he had observed that the Pegasys was more easily tolerated than the other drug.
