Peg intron ready pen

Common Questions and Answers about Peg intron ready pen

Avatar f tn Just got. Call to say the pegysis ready pen is on recall. Anyone else run into this problem?
Avatar n tn I travel a lot though and did Pegasys without any problems. I've heard a lot of people complain about the Peg-intron redi-pen delivery system. I really liked the ready to go, already mixed and measured pre-filled Pegasys syringes. So--no compelling reason to pick one over another that I can see. A lot of us think that the docs probably prefer whichever manufacturer is giving away the most goodies/kicking back at the time they prescribe.
Avatar n tn I use peg intron redi pen and it is very convenient for me. I prefer to not ever see another syringe again as long as I live, and as for the needle being big on the redipen? Humm....mine is very very small. My side effects? liveable and well worth it.
163305 tn?1333672171 I have heard that the sx for peg-intron are worse than pegasys. There is a thread from last week discussing this very topic. You might check the archives for a quick answer.
90502 tn?1196367605 What about Procrit in stomach, left side one week, right the other. And then Peg-Intron in upper leg, alternating left/right sides? Thanks in advance for your opinions on this. I do want to tell you that right now Procrit is my hero. There was a five week period where I couldn't hardly breathe, was RIBA RAGE WOMAN, and had less than no energy. Then "it" kicked in. I am human again, thank you God. Y'all have a wonderful Sunday.
Avatar n tn My doctor in his letter indicated that he usually does the peg-intron and ribo. Now if I remember correctly, this is NOT the same as pegasys and ribo right? (I know I didn't spell that correctly) Is it still true that the pegasys(sp?) has less sides? When I wrote to my doc to set up the appt, I mentioned that I wanted that, but when he wrote me back he just said that "his usual treatment is Peg intron etc. " Am I still correct in my thinking that Pegasys has less sides?
406107 tn?1219016200 Color me blessed!!!!! I actually have (in my possession) my first Mo. supply of Peg Intron Redipens (4 ea.@ 0.4 ml= 96 mcg.):Chillin' in the fridge. Plus, in my: week-@-a-time AM/PM pill container filled and ready are my Ribavirin Caps, (Rebetol- 200 mg)! So, I'm now (@ 12:27AM on 5-12-08) approximately 21.5 hrs. away from week zero. Drum roll, DAH DAH DAH DA, DAH DA!!!!!!!!< Horn section!!! And the Spice girls sing, "DEE DEE DEE DEE DEE DEE.......".
154668 tn?1290119595 I don’t know which meds you’re taking; Pegasys or PEG-Intron, but you might consider calling their patient hotline and bring this up with their educating nurse. From the years I’ve been in here, I don’t believe an *excursion* to room temperature for a day or two will break down the proteins involved. Northern hemisphere=cool ambient temperatures? Better to confirm this with someone authoritative, though :o). Can you ask the flight attendant to put the container in the on board refrigerator?
Avatar n tn Hi- first of all thanks to everyone who answered my previous question on the procrit. Now I have a question about the peg-intron redipen. I am on 17/24 abd have been requesting the vials that I mix because that is what I started with and I was kind of used to it. But this last batch had very mild sx. which never happened before. The nurse told me they are phasing out the vials and switching to redipen.
Avatar n tn If yo are using the Redipen with Peg/Intron be sure to follow each step exactly as recommended by the manufacturer. You should have gotten a by-fold step by step brochure. I'm doing 12/24 tomorrow and since I am riding this storm alone, I always refer to the brochure and have it open during the procedure just to make sure I remember thru the fog. Let stand to room temp.
Avatar f tn Frankly, both coud be off-labled dosed but that appears to be the exception. Peg Intron comes with a redi-pen and Pegasys with in a pre-filled syringe. Possibly you can order both in vials but not sure. I don't believe Pegasys has anything similar to Redipen but as many people who like Redipen, others like a more traditional syringe. As to SVR, depends who you talk (or whisper to). It's controversial but I've heard the same thing -- of course, from Peg Intron big shots. LOL.
Avatar n tn I am on Peg-Intron and Ribavirin and Procrit,Marinol, backup Novolin
Avatar n tn org/forum/index.php/topic,3580.msg29394.html#msg29394 I have decided to go with the redi-pen, peg-intron.... They both have the same success rate but the redi-pen has less of a relapse rate, and less sides, and more of 4 week clear rate.... my g.i. tried to tell me it was all marketing but these were independent studies. don't know if redipen is cheaper yet. I read somewhere that tx cost is around 3000.00 per month! so think of 600.00 as a bargain if you can. Ouch!
439539 tn?1233469415 Peginterferon Alpha-2b.Inject 0.4ML (64MCG), once weekly. Dr. is going to show me how to inject and all the other stuff I need to know.My husband is on on Humira for the past 3 yrs. so shots no problem.????? My question.Does this dosage and medication sound correct ? Thanks again, Tammy Also, should I ask about pre-dosing riba ?
Avatar m tn My Hep-ed is thursday, when I get my scripts, etc. My question, is this redipen with the peg-intron script? I want the pegasys/copegasys just based on the stats (slightly higher clearance rate) and what people have said here about the sx, but I still weigh a whopping 180 lbs. What are my chances of whining my way into it by saying I don't want to use the redipen? Also, my major newbie question: what are the "right" questions on neupogen and procrit?
Avatar n tn If I remember correctly, you're on Peg Intron? If so, one strategy I read is to shoot every 5 or 6 days instead of weekly -- but again, get your doctor onboard cause these drugs are too powerful to play around with.
149675 tn?1416676733 I am treatment Niave and thinking of (but still undecided) about a new trial with NM283 but it uses peg and riba as well. I as many here have researched until my head is ready to burst, then researched some more, and decided not to treat a few years ago. It is the peg and riba that really concern me. I have reservations about taking them.
1391695 tn?1298143389 1-800-521-7157 Just call the appropriate number, and the service rep will help you apply.
Avatar n tn Shake, Mix, draw into a new syringe, and inject. Stay on top of those brokekn ready pens - call the Peg-intron number. Maybe they will send replacements.
Avatar n tn Regarding insurance -- you really have to make some phone calls and compare apples to apples. The big costs wiil be Pegasys or Peg Intron and Ribavirin. And if you need them, check your coverage for Procrit and/or Neupogen. Find out how much of these drugs are covered and do your math. All these drugs require approvals of some sort so that is not unusual. If anyone tells you Pegasys or Peg Intron is more effective than the other, that is only their OPINION.
168732 tn?1311715679 Will be using REDIPEN - Peginterferon alfa- 2b, Peg-Intron once a week with Riba 400 MG twice a day. ($725 a week). Is the pen once a week easier on sx?
146021 tn?1237208487 You always feel as if you are losing some of the peg-intron with the redi-pen. They say it's normal but it's like watching liquid gold seeping out. Take care, Hugs Keep looking Up!
Avatar m tn From the RebetolPI The safety and efficacy of REBETOL Capsules with interferons other than INTRON A or PEG-INTRON products have not been established. So maybe I shouldn’t mix them. As Copegus are pink pills and Rebetol has blue stripes on the capsule then I kinda saw them as boy/girl pills. I was hoping that if you mixed them together that they will bread. Instead it looks like they might fight. Bugg3r. Not much in the way of studies to go on.
Avatar n tn I chose to do the redi-pen (Peg-Interferon) because it's just like a regular epi-pen type thing. It comes all inside and you click the top part to the bottom and it mixes and then you just have to jab the tiny little needle (ah so lovely can't even feel it it's so small) in and push down the plunger thing. REALLY easy to do and there is no mixing of vials or getting out air bubbles or anything. For me...who had never self injected before...
439539 tn?1233469415 Peginterferon Alpha-2b.Inject 0.4mL (64MCG) once weekly. Dr. is going to show me how to inject and all the other stuff I need to know on the 7th.My husband is on Humira for the past 3 shots, no problem????? The box the Redipen came in reads, PegInterferon alfa-2b PegIntron Redipen 80 mcg/ 0.5mL Does this dosage and medications sound correct ? Should I ask about pre-dosing Riba ?
3184673 tn?1347158495 My kids are too little and my husband is having issues of his own. I do, however have my Mother as support. I will be doing the Peg-Intron ready pen and the ribivirin. I was just curious if anyone had any advice pertaining to the ready-pen, I've heard they can be difficult? Also, are there any other forums or groups you could recommend? I've found some, but a lot don't seem to be very active.
Avatar m tn I also knew I would relapse, given those factors. My second tx was using Peg-Intron, in the largest vial then available. It worked out to almost twice the standard dose prescribed for my body weight, hence the DoubleDose moniker. I used 1,200 mg./Riba, and saw very rapid drops in my red cell count. By month three I was on full Procrit, and ended up doing it 2x/week, at about 60,000 IU total/wk.
Avatar n tn If you are using Pegasys, ask the pharmacy to pre-load the syringes. If you are using Peg-Intron the much more user friendly pen will be available in Feb. GI.
90502 tn?1196367605 Jim I'm not, but I have an answer to your question. I give both shots the same night, with my doctor's blessing (Peg-Intron and Procrit). Answer to something else you asked. It took almost 3 weeks for me to feel the benefits of Procrit.
Avatar n tn My Interferon dose on the Viraferon peg pen was 4.5 and I was told to reduce this week to 4.0 as my weight has dropped to 84.1kg. Everything I have read so far seems to indicate that I should be on the full 1200mg ribavirin. Basically, despite the sides I want to make sure that I am taking the max possible to slay my dragon, should I query my dosages with my Consultant, who I am unlikely to see until I get my 12 week results.
