Avatar n tn Hi- first of all thanks to everyone who answered my previous question on the procrit. Now I have a question about the peg-intron redipen. I am on 17/24 abd have been requesting the vials that I mix because that is what I started with and I was kind of used to it. But this last batch had very mild sx. which never happened before. The nurse told me they are phasing out the vials and switching to redipen.
276730 tn?1327966546 I have only been on Pegasys but I was told that PegIntron has more sides, but that was just hearsay..I thought you weren't starting tx till january, or am I confused?
314554 tn?1337457719 Week 17 Geno 1a I have two shots remaining in my current Redipen refill and one shot is ok. Due to a freak accident/mistake one of my (PEG-Intron RedipenPeg) the other Redipen was frozen. How this happened has been corrected. The RediPen is a single use self injectible, It looks like this: http://www.beincharge.com/framework/skins/default_default/images/redipen-product.jpg I am uncertain as: 1) how to "unfreeze" 2) will the syringe function 3) if the integrity (i.e.
Avatar n tn I CALLED TO REORDER MY MONTHLY SUPPLY OF PEG-INTRON AND RIBAVIRIN TODAY, AND THEY TELL ME THE MAIN OFFICE THAT HAS MY PEG-INTRON IS IN NEW ORLEANS AND THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DELIVER IT ON TIME. I AM INTO WEEK 12 OF TREATMENT. WHAT TO DO? IS IT OKAY TO STOP TREATMENT AND WAIT FOR MY MEDS TO COME? I KNOW FOR A FACT THE PHARMACISTS HERE DON'T CARRY PEG-INTRON IN STOCK. SHOULD I JUST DO MY NEXT INJECTION ON THE DAY THE MEDS DO GET HERE?
90502 tn?1196367605 What about Procrit in stomach, left side one week, right the other. And then Peg-Intron in upper leg, alternating left/right sides? Thanks in advance for your opinions on this. I do want to tell you that right now Procrit is my hero. There was a five week period where I couldn't hardly breathe, was RIBA RAGE WOMAN, and had less than no energy. Then "it" kicked in. I am human again, thank you God. Y'all have a wonderful Sunday.
Avatar m tn Dear winner727, Below, I am providing you with a link to the page dedicated to "peginterferon alfa-2b" users who can't afford to pay for their medication; http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?_function=name&name=PEG-Intron NeedyMeds.org is a non-profit organization with the mission of helping people who cannot afford medicine or healthcare costs. Avatar n tn I am on IDEAL study taking Peg-Intron. I don't know if I'm getting the full 1.5 mg or only 1.0 mg og Peg-Intron My sides have been very light, but I wonder if my response is affected by a lower dose?!?!?. I get a vial with poweder and then I have to as .7 of water, then I inject .28 of medication. I wonder if I were to try to increase the amount of med what would happen? increase it by 50% to .42, and hypotetically it would give me the proper dose.
Avatar f tn Most here treat with either Pegasys or Peg Intron and they both work about the same. Pegasys is made by Roche. Peg Intron by Shearing. "INF" could stand for non-Pegylated interferon, Infergen, or often used as a generic term that covers all interferons including pegalayted interferons. Non Pegylated interferons were used before Pegylated interferons and were injected 3X per week instead of once per week.
Avatar m tn BTW if you really don't want to use redipen, I believe you can order Peg Intron in conventional vials but not sure. The redipen like everything else has its plusses and minuses. My only suggestion is to always have at least one extra shot at hand so if you blow a dose there's a back up. I currently have at least three pegasys vials in reserve and wouldn't feel comfortable with any less.
Avatar n tn i use peg intron but it comes in 2 separate vials...room temp storage is dandy...read all the fine print literature that comes w/ redi=pen...does seem if not pre-mixed it shouldn't be a problem?...if yu still have a question-post it and i will call on monday&relay answer back via this forum...tho i'm sure someone w/ 1st hand experience w./ redipens will promptly answer-if not my offer stands.i like the nickname;i like turtles & do alittle ad hoc rescue of egglaying snappers locally...
422881 tn?1257607179 Okay...I get it now. Good call on the Pegasys vs Peg Intron.
Avatar m tn I take PEG-Intron Redipen one 0.4 micrograms per week and 1000 grams Rivrina per day. During the treatement I traveled by airoplane. The results are the fellowing Date Week PCR Value(IU/mL) 2/5/2008 -3 246222 before treatement 17/7/2008 9 23017 25/9/2008 18 35118 20/11/2008 26 41046 29/1/2009 36 45715 16/3/2009 43 17442Now I asking If the treatement is effective or no.
406107 tn?1219016200 Color me blessed!!!!! I actually have (in my possession) my first Mo. supply of Peg Intron Redipens (4 ea.@ 0.4 ml= 96 mcg.):Chillin' in the fridge. Plus, in my: week-@-a-time AM/PM pill container filled and ready are my Ribavirin Caps, (Rebetol- 200 mg)! So, I'm now (@ 12:27AM on 5-12-08) approximately 21.5 hrs. away from week zero. Drum roll, DAH DAH DAH DA, DAH DA!!!!!!!!< Horn section!!! And the Spice girls sing, "DEE DEE DEE DEE DEE DEE.......".
Avatar f tn So, Pegasys and Peg-Intron are two different forms of alpha interferon, yes?
Avatar n tn "5 setting" I actually meant the ".5" setting on the individual dial dosing redipen. "The PEG-INTRON REDIPEN is a disposable, one-time use precision dosing system that allows patients to administer PEG-INTRON in three easy steps: Mix, Dial and Deliver.
Avatar m tn longer half-life from the branched PEG part of the molecule Peg-IFN alfa 2b Peg-Intron : possibly better IFN portion of molecule Now go ask someone why you can't attach a branched PEG molecule (Roche's product) onto an alfa 2b molecule (S-P's product) instead of fooling around with protease/polymerase inhibitors.
3159077 tn?1356034731 I was advised to reduce my Peg Intron due to low platelets. I accidentally did 150 mcg. in week five due to getting the wrong Redipen then in week six I started reducing. Platelets bounced back up around 70 so I've kept my dose at 96 mcg. My weight is down to 165 lbs. from 175 lbs. so I am now injecting the recommended dose of Peg Intron. This took me about two hours to do this morning so I must be feeling better on my 2nd day off Incivek. I NEVER would have had the energy to do this before.
146021 tn?1237208487 ) I wondered if the Hgb is affected more by peg-intron, and Anc more affected by pegasys, but Flguy says his Anc was more affected by the redipen which is peg-intron right? Then Goof had low Hgb and low Anc, but what was your poison, pegasys or peg-intron? I know they are basically suppose to be the same, I'm playing uneducated researcher instead of Deputy for this post. Deputy's no fun, I guess researcher isn't my calling either. Thanks all!
Avatar n tn I believe the Peg Intron vials (not the RediPen) do not require refrigeration. This would seem a good choice for someone like yourself who is constantly traveling.

154668 tn?1290119595 I don’t know which meds you’re taking; Pegasys or PEG-Intron, but you might consider calling their patient hotline and bring this up with their educating nurse. From the years I’ve been in here, I don’t believe an *excursion* to room temperature for a day or two will break down the proteins involved. Northern hemisphere=cool ambient temperatures? Better to confirm this with someone authoritative, though :o). Can you ask the flight attendant to put the container in the on board refrigerator?
158241 tn?1237723123 You will probably have to toss a Mark to decide. I had to recently make the decision too. The first time I treated I used peg-Intron (Shering) and got to undetectable, but relapsed. The stuff apparently worked. But the sx's were pretty tough, in that I was unfunctional for most weekends (shot nite was Friday). I decided to go with Pegasys (Roche) this time for a few reasons. 1) The sx's may be less. This is just anecdotal but I think it will not be any worse than Intron.
Avatar f tn As a Pegasys guy, don't know all that much about Peg Intron, but I imagine the same principle applies. If you're a slow responder, handling sfx OK -- and esp if you have significant liver damage -- then I suppose a very good argument could be made to increase the amount Peg Intron if your weight-gain puts you into the next category.
80575 tn?1207135964 especially if you are on Pegasys. Going to Peg-Intron may be more powerful, and may be more flexible as far as dosing levels. You can more easily do MORE than standard protocol with Peg-Intron. Another choice would be daily, high dose infergen, using 15 mcg. / day. 3. Make darn sure you are using the very maximum allowable Ribavirin dosage for your weight. 4.
