1046985 tn?1305117048 t take this pain much longer, and I also have every symptom of OVCA, weight gain around abdomen, frequent urine, pain with ribbon type bowel movements etc. What I need to know, is when is it just ovarian cysts or ovarian cancer??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm 46 with a ten yr old at home and I work full time, when I'm not stuck in bed.
Avatar f tn When I met with my Gyno I asked the following (my questions were mainly due to worrying about cancer):- Likelyhood of cancer your age and increased risk due to family history? (not knowing at the time my Gran had radiation therapy to the pelvis in the 50's but no-one knows what for but she lived until she was 83, my Grandad died of colon cancer) Size of cyst in relation to cancer? (this doesnt make a difference) The fact it shows solid parts, but not irregular.
Avatar n tn t feel it is related in any way to my prior cysts. Most of the time, those who have cysts do NOT get ovarian cancer. That is just my experience. Good luck with your MRI. This test will definitely give you more information about your cyst.
Avatar n tn I have an urgent feeling to urinate that is never resolved and no infection. What questions should I ask my doc when he calls about the test. I have had very regular cycles up till now (42 years old) and something just feels wrong.
Avatar n tn Most doctors start considering surgically removing cysts once they grow past 5cm. The doctor might try monitoring them for a few cycles or weeks to see if they shrink or grow. You might be given medication to help you get your period if you have irregular periods, since that helps in shrinking the cysts. Good luck and please don't hesitate to ask your doctor lots of questions!
Avatar f tn It did. But every woman is different, it never hurts to ask your doc if you have anymore questions.
Avatar f tn 98% of ovarian cysts are non cancerous. It is rare to have cancerous cysts on both ovaries. If you do not have the BRCA mutation you have a 1.4% of ovarian cancer in a lifetime. You doctor is who you need to talk to. Write down questions to ask.
Avatar n tn Bowel and urine and pain and bloating are all common cyst symptoms. When is your surgery scheduled? there are a lot of questions you need to ask and a 2nd opinion might be valuable.
Avatar f tn 13gemini72 is right, endometriosis can cause very heavy periods and bad cramping. Also, cysts, no matter the size can cause pain. It is a wonder how something so small can cause pain, but it can. I'm glad to see that you are going to see your gynecologist. I know 3 weeks seems like forever away (I will have surgery in about 3 weeks), but maybe you could call your pcp and just tell them what your medical record shows and ask them what they think.
Avatar f tn Its got frustrating here and there especially when my diagnosis went from ovarian cysts to possible hydrosalpinx now complex sc/pelvic mass. Doctors can get you so confused when all you want to here is what the botton line is and what to do next to get back on board to feeling like your old self again. My doctor was a bit on the fence with me at the beginning but I now understand his approach better than I did last Sept.
497511 tn?1213318623 //www.medhelp.org/posts/show/510968. Im not really sure what stranding looks like on a CT but I thought I had seen something that looked like that. If you could help I'd appreciate it.
Avatar m tn I am not sure why her doctors are advising her to wait so long to conceive. She should ask them the reason. Usually, ovarian cysts are removed without cutting into the uterus. So, having a vaginal birth is not considered risky if you have only had a pelvic surgery and not a uterine cut. But, only her doctors can recommend what is best for her since they know her entire medical history. In the US, doctors sometimes prescribe birth control pills to help control cysts.
Avatar f tn Hi I went in the er cuz I had sever stomach pain so the result of the test was ovarian cycts 1 on both sides. So today I went in and they told me that the one on my right side went from being 4cm to 91/2 n the left one 2cm to6 cm I'm freaked out I didn't ask any questions of the doc but she said I need them both removed asap. Im 23 I have a beautiful daughter I do want more kiss in the future but I'm scared. Does anyone think that they would have too take both our cut both ovaries.
Avatar m tn Hi Nancy, Did an OB/GYN give you these results (not the ultra sound tech or nurse)? They should have given you some sort instructions in terms of follow-up. I would be worried too if they just gave me information and didn't explain it to me. Assuming you are dealing with an OB/GYN could you call them and ask the questions you have? I know it's scary sometimes, but you deserve to have all of your questions answered. In the mean time: Mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn When you see the gynecologist, you can ask him/her some of these questions. In my case, my gynecologist told me in his office that he didn't feel that I had cancer (based on CT scans, ultrasound, pelvic exam, and CA125 blood test results). This was a big relief, not a guarantee of course, because they cannot know until they do a biopsy during your surgery.
1666478 tn?1303226690 thank you for replying so soon. praying hard that it is endometriosis :/ did you have any scans prior to your laparoscopy? do you still suffer with endo...do they scan you reg for recurrent cysts?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant but the majority (over 90%) are benign. A lot depends on your age and what type of cyst it is - functional, dermoid, etc. Your doctor hopefully will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You can google "ovarian cysts" to get more information so you know what questions to ask at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
Avatar n tn I just wanted to mention that the Ovarian Cysts Community forum is actually separate from the Ovarian Cysts Expert forum. It is rather confusing and I didn't want you to be waiting for doctor Goodman's reply and not understand if she doesn't respond to you. If you would like to hear from the doctor, go to the forum main page and click on the expert forum under Ovarian Cysts, which is on the right hand side of the page. Good luck.
Avatar f tn In January of 2009, i had emergency surgery for an ovarian cysts on my right ovary. Apparently the cyst was 5 inches and twisted around my ovary. After the surgery, i had no pain up until June of that year. I had many ultrasounds done that confirmed i had small cysts. In April of 2010, i had laproscopic surgery to have a look to see what was going on. The doctor told me after that my ovary had dropped down due to a cyst and that my right tube was blocked.
483733 tn?1326798446 We know you must be worried at the thought of having an Ovarian Cyst. Ovarian cysts can be pretty scary along with the pain and other symptoms that can often accompany them. This forum is answered by women who also have had cysts. We are not Doctors, so the advice given is based only on what we have experienced. Now that you have been welcomed, and if you're ready to post your question, please start a new thread to ensure your question won't be missed!
1337047 tn?1275914064 Thanks for your help. My gynecologist says for sure he doesn't think it is malignant and if some cancerous cells are found he has already mentioned that the nature of the surgery will then become a staging procedure, whatever that means. I did see my GP here and asked her some questions I didn't ask the gyn. She really didn't seem that knowledgeable as she was typing all the time I was talking to her and I really think she was googling the answers.
Avatar f tn Recently I had an ultrasound in which the tech found ovarian cysts. My question is could these cysts be the cause of my problems? Is it possible for cysts to move into the Intra-Abdominal area? Thank you for any answers.
Avatar f tn If you get cysts the way you do and they rupture when you get your period, they're probably just functional cysts and wouldn't cause infection when they rupture. Your doctor probably knows this and isn't worried for that reason. Try asking him if he thinks there might be any damage and see what he says. There is more concern when a complex cyst ruptures for fear of it's contents causing infection on other organs.
Avatar n tn I went to my general Dr. with a weird pressure on my right side. She did a vaginal exam that was normal but sent me for an ultrasound. She said she thought I had a cyst and we chatted about cysts, it sounded like it was no big deal. When she called me with the results she wouldn't tell me much, didn't answer questions, said I needed to follow up with a gynocoligist which I am scheduled for. She did say the cyst was 2.9cm and a functional cyst.
Avatar f tn A smooth walled cyst with no solid components means it's probably fluid filled. It's size is about the size of a small lemon.Have you had a follow-up with your gyn to go over the test results? Cysts are very normal , especially in pre-menopausal women. Depending on it's type, size, your age, and other factors, your doctor could opt to do a " watchful waiting" over the course of a few menstrual cycles to see if it resolves on it's own.
Avatar f tn Ask lots of questions. My Endocrinologist told me that my ovarian cysts were caused by to much insulin floating around in my body.
