Avatar m tn Magnesium Oil transdermally (from MgCl and distilled water up to 50% dilution) is the best way to deliver Mg to your body without any issues. Coconut Oil (extra vigrin) limits inflammation, and is the best fat for the heart. The heart uses 80% fat and 20% glucose for energy. When there's insufficient saturated fat it is forced to utilize more glucose (a very taxing process to the body) with the help of enzyme CD36 if readily available in sufficient quantity.
Avatar n tn It is now sharp shooting pains in my neck, shoulder, and right arm.(sometimes into my head also.) All on right side. Also my neck pops really loudly now, and my shoulder burns and feels heavy. I had a cervical MRI in Sept 2005. My doctor (work comp) said it was normal but put me in PT. This has relieved only the tenseness in the muscles. On my therapy note I saw my Dx was cervical DJD.

Avatar f tn New study proves that pain is not a symptom of osteoarthritis, pain causes arthritis Pain is more than a symptom of osteoarthritis, it is an inherent and damaging part of the disease itself, according to a study published September 29* in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism. link to article: http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 43 yr old female.I have osteoarthritis in my neck, get migraines and fibromyalgia (all dx) I have recently seen a Neurologist who said its not worth having an MRI. I disagree, and my osteopath is also worried. I have very gentle treatment on my neck, every few weeks, pain killers hardly touch my pain..I am getting giddy spells, severe pain in shoulders neck and occipital area.
Avatar m tn The pain is caused by irritation or injury to the nerves, which can be the result of trauma to the back of the head, pinching of the nerves by overly tight neck muscles or compression of the nerve as it leaves the spine due to osteoarthritis. Treatment usually includes physiotherapy of the neck, neck massage, local anesthetic or steroid nerve blocks and medications which are used for nerve related pain (e.g Neurontin).
Avatar n tn In answer to your question, I had a MRI and bone scan, neck down, in 2005. They showed only mild osteoarthritis. My spine at the base of my neck has been sore for a few years. The spinal column feels compressed at that point. I'm thinking Cranial Sacral.
1280306 tn?1271271386 Last spring I was suffering from neck pain that led to headaches. The neck pain had been there from the previous fall but not the headaches. Then I started feeling pressure in my forehead, went to the doctor they did a cat scan and I had a really bad sinus infection.Lasted for about 3 weeks, went to the ears for another two weeks and finally disappeared! A couple of days went by feeling pretty good then all of the sudden felt an extreme head pressure and a swelling in the side of neck!
Avatar n tn EXTREME NECK POPPING FOLLOWED BY NECK/SHOULDER PAIN: Woke up one morning in Oct and neck started making popping sounds (hundreds of times a day). I never crack my neck so it was unusual. Within a week, sharp pains started in my neck & shoulder (always on the right hand side). For the last 3 months, I have had these pops (300 times a day) and sharp quick pains (50-100 times/day). Chiropractic services was no help in Oct/Nov. Physical therapy excerises during all Dec did not help.
Avatar n tn Why were you taking augmentin? Sudden neck stiffness and joint pain can be cervical spondilitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and meningitis. It is only after clinical examination and tests like X ray or CT scan that an exact diagnosis can be made. I would urge you to seek immediate medical attention. Do keep us posted!
Avatar n tn I have the cracking of the neck to and I know it is arthritis, I used to do the collanetics neck exersises, I guess it did work, if you have any additrional information about this please let me know. Also I wont get into details because it is a long story, but about 10 yrs ago 51 yrs old,I had a terrible ear infection and my neck cracking, they got me in Antibiotis and it did not help.
Avatar f tn It sounds really stupid, but I was working out there for days, and I already have bad arthritis in my back and some in my neck, so I was taking frequent breaks by standing up and stretching. I would stand up without looking where I was, and twice I was right under that low branch. I saw stars and dropped to the ground. Everyting felt like it jammed or compressed.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Arthritis refers to inflammation of a joint and osteoarthritis refers to degenerative arthritis; while degenerative disc disease refers to degeneration of the intervertebral discs and may be characterized by dehydration, displacement etc.; with or without inflammation. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn ps it is not toxic like vitamin A or other substances if too much is consumed. I have osteoarthritis in the neck and feel a big difference in pain and inflammation after just a month. The usaul period is two to three months.
Avatar n tn Since then I am having trouble with pain in the neck and shoulder area just below the fusion area. I wake in the morning with a headache then turns to pain in lower neck and shoulders. I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back.
Avatar f tn Every bump on the way there, hurt and I could not move my neck either way. Chiro could feel inflammation at C6/C7 and extremely tight muscles and spasming muscles. I did not have the strength to hold my head up while going down to a laying position, or getting up from that position - it was way too painful. He said I probably completely herniated that disk (that was already herniated). He fitted me with a neck collar which I wore for about 3 days off and on during the acute phase.

Avatar n tn The pain is due to irritation or injury of nerves, pinching of nerves by tight neck muscles, compression of nerves as it leaves the spine secondary to osteoarthritis or tumors in the neck. Local inflammation or infection, gout, diabetes etc. you need to consult a neurologist who will do a detailed neurological examination, X-ray upper spine, eliciting tenderness over affected nerve, relief from pain after an anesthetic block will be needed to confirm diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Usually spurs form at facet joints, causing back or neck pain due to inflammation of facet joints and nerve irritation. EMG, NCV to exclude peripheral nerve compression, xray spine for arthritic changes and bone spur CT / MRI if any missed details on x rays.
Avatar m tn Bone spurs are common in spine due to osteoarthritis, resulting from chronic pulling of ligaments over long time. Usually spurs form at facet joints, causing back or neck pain due to inflammation of facet joints and nerve irritation. EMG, NCV to exclude peripheral nerve compression, xray spine for arthritic changes and bone spur CT / MRI if any missed details on x rays.
Avatar m tn If it was repetitive injury, then why didn't it take the other thumb long to play up. It's more likely disc inflammation in your neck at those levels because your head is now being held on both sides for long periods.
197575 tn?1215536224 The numbers have stayed stable so never was I told I had mixed connective tissue disease which is indicative of having those two blood tests positive. About 3 1/2 weeks ago I started having sever neck and shoulder pain which I thought was a stiff neck. After about a week of no relief, I made a dr apt. the pain kept getting worse . Dr recommended massage, yoga, ibuprofen etc. Then asked me what I thought. I told her I think it has something to do with mctd . She said it could be and ran labs.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination,it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but the various possibilities for your hand pain without any history of trauma are carpal tunnel syndrome(the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, leading to pain, paresthesias, and muscle weakness in the forearm and hand),arthritis(rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, gout),Charcot marie tooth disorder(mutations in genes that affect the normal function of the peripheral nerves), diabetic peripheral neuropathy , Dupuytren’s contrac
Avatar n tn (( I have inflammation and searced google for ANTI INFLAMMATORY DIET and FOODS. Saw that there are a lot of foods that are considered proflammatory. It changed my way of eating. After reading all the foods that are proflammatory that I always thought were good for you, I wished I knew about it so many years ago. You know the saying: "You are what you eat?" Let me know what you find. I could use more choices of foods to eat.
