Avatar n tn I did a google search wondering the same thing as i have Osteoarthritis as well as Lupus and today i cannot move my neck without having spasms in my neck. My mom is helping me thankfully and she also has Lupus. My sister does as well and has sjogren's. It really runs in our family. My doctor explained as zomom did that with osteoarthritis most people at our age to have some form of it.
Avatar m tn I try to read more to get rid of stress and if its really bad I use a heating blanket on my neck and jaw. I have had acupuncture in my jaw as well as massage therapy inside the mouth. which doesnt feel good at all but it does help relax the muscles. Really though I cant express to you enough you need a mouth guard to start out with. You can also go see an orthopedic surgeon who will do xrays to see if there is any damage done.
Avatar f tn I have arthritis in most of my joints, but I have more than one type of arthritis too. If you are looking for symptoms of osteoarthritis in the neck, they include pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, tingling or soarness in the arms, headaches and even balance problems.
Avatar m tn lately, for about the past two weeks, I have had a pain that is sharp in nature on the left side of my neck. Its not surface pain, but rather inside of the neck, closer to my esophagus than anything, but it feels very sharp. I have seen a chiro before about back/posture issues, but just wondering if anyone else has had this or not. Im 32 and in relatively good health.
Avatar f tn Ask to be referred to s physiotherapist to give you appropriate exercises to do and they may suggest neck traction if they feel it may help. The jaw problem is likely to be a bone issue too. Keep away from draughts and getting any cold on your neck. Wear a scarf to keep it warm.
Avatar m tn The pain is caused by irritation or injury to the nerves, which can be the result of trauma to the back of the head, pinching of the nerves by overly tight neck muscles or compression of the nerve as it leaves the spine due to osteoarthritis. Treatment usually includes physiotherapy of the neck, neck massage, local anesthetic or steroid nerve blocks and medications which are used for nerve related pain (e.g Neurontin).
Avatar f tn My male 10 yr old cat got bitten by my dog last week and has a fractured jaw. I pulled the dog off the cat which had his neck in her mouth. After breaking them up, I grabbed the cat and brought him indoors. I saw his jaw was loose and washed off blood on him and put a cold ice pack on him. I called veterinarians all over the county I live in and none of them would take care of a cat with a fractured jaw, and they all wanted cash up front.
Avatar n tn I also have fibromyalgia as well. I have the cracking in the neck, jaw, hips, ankles and my elbows. Sounds like you have osteoarthris also. Good luck to you!!
Avatar n tn In answer to your question, I had a MRI and bone scan, neck down, in 2005. They showed only mild osteoarthritis. My spine at the base of my neck has been sore for a few years. The spinal column feels compressed at that point. I'm thinking Cranial Sacral.

The neck pain had been there from the previous fall but not the headaches. Then I started feeling pressure in my forehead, went to the doctor they did a cat scan and I had a really bad sinus infection.Lasted for about 3 weeks, went to the ears for another two weeks and finally disappeared! A couple of days went by feeling pretty good then all of the sudden felt an extreme head pressure and a swelling in the side of neck!
Avatar m tn Added to this is the glands in my neck ( the ones kind of along the jaw line) have been swollen for the last couple of weeks. Again, sometimes feel more swollen than other times. I haven't been ill or felt ill at all recently. I eat healthy and train everyday. My health as far as I know is good. And thirdly, for the last couple of months or so I have had headaches on the right side of my head. Usually towards the front of the head and sometimes behind the eye.
Avatar n tn With me I think it is a salicylate sensitivity as I can't use orinary toiletries or cosmetics as they clamp up my jaw and make my neck muscles go into spasm. Don't use anything with herbal or plant extracts as these will make it worse if you have the same problem as I have.
Avatar n tn Shoulder pain, Arm pain - both forearm and upperarm, fingers, Leg - both lower and upper and sometimes centered around the inside of my knee, stabbing pain in my chest (left side), tingling/numb sensation in my left and sometimes in my face and stabbing/shooting pain in my neck, the side and sometimes the back!!! Needless to say I have been so worried about this - have had every kind of cardiac test going and all were fine and ultrasound of my legs were fine and nothing shows up.
Avatar n tn would significant breast reduction surgery be likely to reduce the pressure on my cervical osteoarthritis or the nerves in my neck and shoulder, and how would I go about getting it approved? A few years ago I inquired and did not qualify but I did not have all this pain then and now I do. Please please help me figure out what to do next. I am running out of options. I have a followup with my neurologist very soon.
748543 tn?1463449675 The position of the teeth affect the function of the jaw, which in turn effects the head position. Rene Cailliet, Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Southern California, has put it best: “It is an axiom that the body follows the head. You can realign your whole body by repositioning your head. Head held in a forward position can pull your entire body out of line. It can reduce the vital lung capacity by as much as 30 percent.
748543 tn?1463449675 One of the most difficult concepts to get across to my TMD patients and other doctors is the connectivity of the Jaw and the Neck. In fact, it is my strong belief that TMD/TMJ should really be classified as a Craniocervical Disease and hence fall under the umbrella of medical coverage rather than treated strictly as a dental problem. To the Neuromuscular-minded dentist, "Occlusion" is an extension of general Postural Consideration.
Avatar n tn This includes muscle spasms in the left scapular area radiating up into the left side of neck, jaw and face, then down the left arm and into my little finger and ring finger. In these areas I also have sensations of burning, coldness, tingling, sharp piercing shocks, and sensations of needles. I also have weakness in my left arm when I try to lift objects such as a book or coffee cup. The symptoms range in severity and come and go depending on what I'm doing.
Avatar n tn I have the cracking of the neck to and I know it is arthritis, I used to do the collanetics neck exersises, I guess it did work, if you have any additrional information about this please let me know. Avatar n tn Since then I am having trouble with pain in the neck and shoulder area just below the fusion area. I wake in the morning with a headache then turns to pain in lower neck and shoulders. I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back.

Avatar f tn For about a week of that I suffered neck weakness but that resolved and I forgot about it until March. In March I still had residual dizziness and I was treated by a chiropractor with a very gentle technique (no thrusting or jarring movements). He tugged on my jaw a bit and tapped on my ear in order to coax my upper vertebras into better alignment.
Avatar f tn My best friend showed signs of having a heart attack down to tingling in the left arm, jaw and neck pain, tightness in the chest. After 2 days in the hospital and numerous tests, she's being told that it looks like arthritis in her ribs is causing the muscles around her heart to spasm. How is this possible? She's confused. She doesn't have a computer so I'm researching for her.

Avatar f tn Hi, I have osteoarthritis in my thumbs and index fingers, carpal tunnel in both wrists, arthritis in my neck and other areas of my back and my knees. But I am not diagnosed as having RA. It is possible that you just have the *wear and tear* arthritis in a lot of your joints. You're not too young, esp. if it runs in the family.

Avatar f tn Not to mention that my back hurts (usually upper back) and I get pain in my neck and jaw. Again, it can be both sides, but mainly to the left. Right now, my left arm and hand is hurting. I get head pains...not an ache, but more like someone is sticking a nail in my head for a few seconds and then it disappears. I also get the feeling that my throat is closing up, but I can still breathe. I have these sharp, shooting pains in my stomach, but it's not all the time.
Avatar f tn TMJ with osteoarthritis of the jaw joints and cervical spine. The other diagnosis is from a neurologist. Idiopathic facial pain - Central Nervous System disorder coming fro the brain as opposed to the spine. I have tried many medications, physio, acupuncture, chiro. I have been told it is not MS or Trigeminal Neuralgia even though a lot of my pain patterns seem to follow branches of the TN nerves or nucleus from brain, into tmj joint, face, teeth and nucleus at cervical spine.
Avatar f tn I am set for 3 MRIs and after that I am at my wits end. My symptoms began with left sided jaw and neck pain. It was annoying. It then radiated to the front of my neck and hurt into my throat. At times, I did not even want to talk because it was a strain. Then the pain would leave and not return for a while. I thought that was awesome and whatever it was left me. Then it returned with a vengeance on the right side only now with severe inner ear pain, burning and throbbing.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 23 and about the beginning of last year I started hearing clicking sounds in my left ear whenever I open my mouth and then the left side of my head(where the head meets the neck) started hurting. Then fast forward to this year like a few weeks back my back started paining me and then my hands and legs joined. None of the pains have gone. None of my joints are swollen nor do I have limited motion. I can move my neck however I want but it hurts.
