Avatar f tn I have arthritis in most of my joints, but I have more than one type of arthritis too. If you are looking for symptoms of osteoarthritis in the neck, they include pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, tingling or soarness in the arms, headaches and even balance problems.
Avatar m tn lately, for about the past two weeks, I have had a pain that is sharp in nature on the left side of my neck. Its not surface pain, but rather inside of the neck, closer to my esophagus than anything, but it feels very sharp. I have seen a chiro before about back/posture issues, but just wondering if anyone else has had this or not. Im 32 and in relatively good health.
Avatar f tn I have RA through my whole body to the point i even get sore throats and lock jaw. Since i started taking Enbrel i have been alot better. Make sure you get the right meds and it can change your quality of life. I was diagnosed at 33 and that was 10 yrs ago now. I was almost in a wheelchair but now function normally each day as long as i take my enbrel and methatrexate. Hope everything goes well for you.

Avatar m tn Added to this is the glands in my neck ( the ones kind of along the jaw line) have been swollen for the last couple of weeks. Again, sometimes feel more swollen than other times. I haven't been ill or felt ill at all recently. I eat healthy and train everyday. My health as far as I know is good. And thirdly, for the last couple of months or so I have had headaches on the right side of my head. Usually towards the front of the head and sometimes behind the eye.
Avatar f tn m 23 and about the beginning of last year I started hearing clicking sounds in my left ear whenever I open my mouth and then the left side of my head(where the head meets the neck) started hurting. Then fast forward to this year like a few weeks back my back started paining me and then my hands and legs joined. None of the pains have gone. None of my joints are swollen nor do I have limited motion. I can move my neck however I want but it hurts. I used to weigh 202lbs, now I weigh 231lbs.
1459410 tn?1285695005 I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis. I recently got an MRI after years of suffering and learned about disc displacement, one of them displaced all the time and it's torn. Pool exercise might help you some if they are joints that go underwater. And if you have knee arthritis, I saw on tv where I scientific study was done proving acupuncture can be a help.
1280306 tn?1271267786 Last spring I was suffering from neck pain that led to headaches. The neck pain had been there from the previous fall but not the headaches. Then I started feeling pressure in my forehead, went to the doctor they did a cat scan and I had a really bad sinus infection.Lasted for about 3 weeks, went to the ears for another two weeks and finally disappeared! A couple of days went by feeling pretty good then all of the sudden felt an extreme head pressure and a swelling in the side of neck!
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn The osteoarthritis may progress slowly over time. Strengthening the muscles that support the neck and cervical spine may lesson symptoms of pain and discomfort. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. 1836925 tn?1318362273 I have severe osteoarthritis in the jaw. I have already had orthroscoptic surgery last year which helped a bit but now the oral surgeon is going to inject me with synvisc in 2 weeks to help the pain. I'm not allergic to chicken or feathers to my knowledge , but I'm very leary about using it.Has anyone ever used this med. for the jaw. I have worn a hole in the disc and he has said that down the road I may need a more major surgery.
Avatar f tn You're welcome! Well, that definitely is a reason not to bother your doctor with asking about ibuprofen! That's too bad, because when I was first told I had osteoarthritis in my jaw joints (could hardly open my mouth at the time), I was told ibuprofen was the drug of choice for TMJ.
964288 tn?1247249184 It hurts me when I talk a lot, sing a lot, chew a lot, etc.. I have also had face pain. I was told my lower jaw was congenitally to small for my upper jaw, but it was too late to get an extender put in due to osteoarthritis having set in. This kind of pain can cause often depression. So, I feel some sympathy for your problem, djnmo.
1276426 tn?1271017738 It sound like you have TMJ dysfunction. It is possible you have arthritis in your jaw. I have osteoarthritis in my own jaws. I was told to use my fingers to keep myself from yawning too wide and that I would need to be on a soft diet the rest of my life. I was told I need to limit my talking on the phone and singing. I've been wearing flat planed splint nightly, prescribed by maxillofacial specialists to try to prevent my arthritis from worsening and it seems to be helping.
Avatar m tn What I have is actually in the neck and jaw. the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?
Avatar m tn If you do the proper exercises, wear mouth guard, use muscle relaxants when it becomes too painful and treat your jaw like gold than its possible to at least get to a place where you can live with it. I had surgery 17yrs ago I am not 35 and the pain came back 4yrs ago. I always wear my mouthguard and have since I was 15. I have osteoarthritis in my one joint and the other side the disk is folded in half.
Avatar n tn i'm 52 , a couple month ago my neck and my head just started to poo , crack , very discomfort , is there a name for this ? should i worry or tell my doctor ?
Avatar n tn Although I have had 2 surgeries on my cervical spine for ruptured discs and lax ligaments (am now fused from C3-C6), I am now told that I have significant osteoarthritis at C1-C2 (atlanto-axial joint) Accupuncture did relieve a lot of the associated muscle spasms but I still get bone pain sometimes even at the base of my skull. I've also wrenched the left side of my neck twice in the past 6 weeks at work.
Avatar n tn I'm a 29 year old male. In 2006 I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee after an exam by an Orthropedic Doctor. He is a very fine doctor and very smart. The problem is that now many joints are hurting. My knuckles (on fingers not on hands), my elbows and both of my knees are hurting. It's been going on for about a 3 days. My elbows just started hurting then. I have a family history of RA. My doctor told me that the knee he looked at was for sure Osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn My husband keeps getting recurrent pain in his neck. He has had to go to the ER a few times and x-rays were normal. He went to the dr. yesterday and she gave him Flexeril and Ultram but they don't seem to help the pain. Tonight I put hot, wet washrags (making them hotter slowly) and after waiting about 15 minutes, rubbed ben-gay on his neck and shoulder muscles. He says 'if I could just crack my neck, I think it would feel allot better'.
Avatar m tn I feel things have been getting better but slowly. Recently, I went to a sports medicine hand doctor and he had said I have osteoarthritis. I reviewed the radiologist notes on the xrays taken and he couldnt find an signs of arthritis. I am concerned that the Dr.'s diagnosis is wrong given that pain started in both thumbs on exactly the same day. Shouldn't the pain have started first in my dominant hand? How can a Dr. make a osteoarthritis diagnosis without evidence on xrays?
