Avatar f tn What should i expect with this diagnosis? I have terrible neck pain and headaches and numbness on left side of body. I also have chiari malformation, ibs (surgery), asthma (pneumonia x1), and sinusitis (prior surgery). Should i see a rheumatologist?
Avatar n tn Also degeneration between same discs shows on the X-rays. I experience pain, especially in the 2 areas that lead to neck and headaches. What other areas of my body does this affect? I do on occasion experience numbness and tingling in both hands and fingers, but will stop when massaged. So, I am looking for other symptoms in my body resulting from the spurs touching nerves in both areas. Thank you. John.
Avatar f tn Years ago after horrendous headaches and neck pain and trips to the ER I was diagnosed w/ osteoarthritis that cause migraines. Been taking hydrocodone for it since then and it's been a godsend. 2 little pills and both problems go away and I can function.............I don't take them everyday, more like 3 or 4 days a week, 2 pills and I'm good for most of the day. I also have a tens unit which has help tremendously as well. Take LOTS of hot baths etc. Fast forward to now.......
1257704 tn?1269493583 Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. Generally pain in the back portion of the head originates from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine.
Avatar n tn No arm or shoulder pain, in fact only symptoms for prior surgeries were nerve pain in arm - never had neck pain! At no time did any doc tell me I had OA. I specifically asked this new doc if he saw any disc or bone spurs at that level and he said no. Lab work for RA was all negative. Has anyone had a similar experience???

408795 tn?1324939275 I have extensive Osteoarthritis in my upper back and neck from an accident I was in over 20yrs ago. I had an accident and I broke my right leg and my left arm. As a result my right leg is slightly bowed and therefore around a half inch shorter than my left leg. As a result it has affected my back and neck. Lately my legs have been swelling and itching, mostly the left. I certainly feel it's all related to my right leg injury.
7486852 tn?1410355784 When I was around 18 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my left knee, but now I'm almost 25 and I am having a lot more bone pain but the most extreme is my knees but now I have the same pain, popping, cracking in my hips, ankles, wrists, lower ribcages with a bump on the right, shoulder blades, neck, spine, and my tailbone hurts pretty bad as well, oh and the bone in the side of my foot.. i haven't been back to a specialists since the diagnosis and I have no insurance.
Avatar m tn For chronic pain look into supplementing with malic acid, as it's production in your system is inhibited by high levels of tartaric acid-a muscle toxin that causes pain and fatigue-. For acute pain DMSO (lab grade, 30% solution to distilled water, 10% for neck and up, one light application without rubbing over freshly washed skin) Best is to adapt a low carb diet , as carbs feed yeast metabolites that fuel the production of tartaric acid.
Avatar n tn But I feel like I need to respectfully disagree with his opinion that it isn't related to the accident due to my medical history - I've never had any constant joint pain anywhere except my ankle that's given me problems since I twisted it as a kid. Would it be fair to present my case to another orthopedist with my opinion for review? If it's as advanced as my orthopedist is leading me to believe, shouldn't it have been clinically diagnosable with x-rays alone? Opinions appreciated.
1422878 tn?1284588193 im having neck pain...my arm hurts. and my hand is tingling. my neck hurts when i move it.... and it makes a cracking sound when try to move it. What is going on?
Avatar f tn My husband keeps getting recurrent pain in his neck. He has had to go to the ER a few times and x-rays were normal. He went to the dr. yesterday and she gave him Flexeril and Ultram but they don't seem to help the pain. Tonight I put hot, wet washrags (making them hotter slowly) and after waiting about 15 minutes, rubbed ben-gay on his neck and shoulder muscles. He says 'if I could just crack my neck, I think it would feel allot better'. Any other suggestions about what I can do to help him?
432312 tn?1265648574 I am over weight as my back pain sometimes causes me to not want to move at all. Ok here is my question. I think I have arthritis of some sort. I have been to many doctors. Sometimes they tell me that it must be a symptom of my MS. My MS doctor says that it could be but that since he isn't a back doctor he doesn't know. Mostly my lower back is affected. a dull ache that doesn't go away. Standing makes it much worse.
Avatar f tn Pain in left shoulder and left side of neck. Severe stiffness on waking up and find it difficult to move.
Avatar n tn Constant fatigue, seem to need to nap 2-3 times daily real problem as I teach daily and can, at times barely stay awake) Neck and shoulders ache daily Left arm daily feels like being squeezed most days Feet swollen when I wake every morning Joints and muscles ache at night Wake up frequently pain walking upstairs radiates from neck to arm Cramps in calves-at least 1/2 weekly Hip pain every night and can be severe, mostly left but can be both Lately I have been having pain in my right ribs
Avatar f tn New study proves that pain is not a symptom of osteoarthritis, pain causes arthritis Pain is more than a symptom of osteoarthritis, it is an inherent and damaging part of the disease itself, according to a study published September 29* in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism. link to article: http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?
Avatar n tn Recently, I have been really experiencing more joint pain than usual in my shoulders, hands, knees and jaw (7months of pain). I get bone pain and also shooting pains (which have no diagnosis). My thumb knuckles are starting to pop out to the side. I have a bad back (no cushion between 4 and 5 + more) and have experienced pain like no other. A Baker's Cyst also popped up last month at an also bad knee (torn ligaments never corrected).
Avatar n tn I was extremely lucky and have no paralysis. I am however now experiencing great pain in my neck and shoulder with numbness in my right thumb. Any advise would be gratly appreciated. I have an appointment with the neurologist in 3 weeks. I am also seeing a massage therapist but the massage helps for a little while and then the pain returns.
Avatar m tn i have been having upper back and neck pain along with numbness in fingers and toes.
Avatar f tn very interesting reply, i had fusion C4-5 18 months ago, relief with neck/shoulder arm pain- still have alittle. but now have bad headaches and neck to mid back stabbing pain that is relentless, never had that before surgery. would you say that relaxation works for low levels of pain? i had tried every procedure that i'm aware of.....
Avatar n tn She has also fainted couple of times after severe pain in the neck. She is also experiencing pain in both the shoulders and neck. Multiple doctors have tried multiple things but nothing has helped more than adding minor improvement. Earlier her HB was very low which is well in the range since last one year but even then her pain has not gone completely though the pain has reduced. She is 56 years old and is not having any other illness.
Avatar f tn I also have diabetes, gluacoma, cataracts, osteoarthritis in most of my joints (can't take meds for the pain because of kidney desease) , a temporal lobe seizure disorder, kidney failure, thirteen surgeries, high blood pressure and cholesterol and yes, an anxiety disorder with panic attacks. But I made it this far and don't plan on giving up. It is tough, but if you get in some good habits like diet and exercise life will probably get better for you.
Avatar f tn I have very gentle treatment on my neck, every few weeks, pain killers hardly touch my pain..I am getting giddy spells, severe pain in shoulders neck and occipital area. When i get a migraine now,i get excrutiating pain in my occipital area and it travels up and down my spine so i cannot sit because of the pain.It gets so bad at times i wish i could die.The pain in the upper neck and occipital is so violent and can last for days..do you think i should push to get a scan?
Avatar m tn lately, for about the past two weeks, I have had a pain that is sharp in nature on the left side of my neck. Its not surface pain, but rather inside of the neck, closer to my esophagus than anything, but it feels very sharp. I have seen a chiro before about back/posture issues, but just wondering if anyone else has had this or not. Im 32 and in relatively good health.
