Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis in my back and hips. The physiotherapist has given me exercises to help with the pain. Best thing is to keep active, if you can. Hopefully the ortho will help, and a rheumatologist, like I have seen, will help you cope with the arthritis.
Avatar n tn Also degeneration between same discs shows on the X-rays. I experience pain, especially in the 2 areas that lead to neck and headaches. What other areas of my body does this affect? I do on occasion experience numbness and tingling in both hands and fingers, but will stop when massaged. So, I am looking for other symptoms in my body resulting from the spurs touching nerves in both areas. Thank you. John.
408795 tn?1324939275 Can osteoarthritis in my upper back and neck cause my hands to swell, actually only one hand swells? Excuse me if it's a dunderhead question but I just can't figure out where this swelling is coming from.
408795 tn?1324939275 I have extensive Osteoarthritis in my upper back and neck from an accident I was in over 20yrs ago. I had an accident and I broke my right leg and my left arm. As a result my right leg is slightly bowed and therefore around a half inch shorter than my left leg. As a result it has affected my back and neck. Lately my legs have been swelling and itching, mostly the left. I certainly feel it's all related to my right leg injury.
Avatar n tn I frequently get numbness in my legs and hands, severe pain to the point where walking in unbearable. I can not work around the house for more than 15min a day and employment is at the moment out of the question because my back will spasm severly at any time. I was told that applying for a total and permanent disability to ensure I would not have to try and work. My Dr. said that it would be hard to do this as osteoarthritis is often not seen as a disability.
Avatar m tn i have oa moderate in my neck mild in lower back for about 3 years now.How fast does oa get worse or stay the same?Im thinking of getting a inversion table, will that help?My legs have been feeling tired weak kinda like losing sensativity in my legs. Could that be cause of the oa in my back and neck?i feel sometimes like my body is lopsided a bit.
1257704 tn?1269493583 Generally pain in the back portion of the head originates from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Mostly, this kind of head pain aggravates after turning head and typically occurs in patients with previous neck injuries and in patients with marked arthritis of the upper cervical spine.
Avatar m tn The osteoarthritis may progress slowly over time. Strengthening the muscles that support the neck and cervical spine may lesson symptoms of pain and discomfort. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. Avatar m tn i have moderate osteoarthritis in neck, last night my friend was driving and we had a minor accident i got a little whiplash,i did not go to dr or hospital,i had minor soreness and stiffness all day. My question is do you think the whiplash will make my osteoarthritiss worse in my neck? How long should the minor affects of whiplash last?
Avatar n tn Although I have had 2 surgeries on my cervical spine for ruptured discs and lax ligaments (am now fused from C3-C6), I am now told that I have significant osteoarthritis at C1-C2 (atlanto-axial joint) Accupuncture did relieve a lot of the associated muscle spasms but I still get bone pain sometimes even at the base of my skull. I've also wrenched the left side of my neck twice in the past 6 weeks at work.
Avatar m tn In the absence of lesions-I think that's what you meant- an MS diagnosis, which is an extremely difficult condition to diagnose ( and it takes many years on the average), is even less likely. This is not to say that it is ruled out. Look into the 2010 McDonald criteria for more details. Have you had a dx for osteoarthritis or are you suspecting it? You need to see a Rheumatologist for OA dx. Meanwhile have you done any tests for deficiencies like B12, Vit.
Avatar n tn can anyone tell me if osteoarthritis is a dominoing effect on the spine..to reach the base of neck to shoulder pain up to wrist..occasionaly painful. also have ddd in l5-s1 lumbar..leg spasms, and ackes.can't do daily activities without pain..simple things. many different symptoms have started since... and does thing impair me at 30's from working.
Avatar n tn I'm taking natural supplements to rid my body of this (had arthritis in neck, back and shoulder too) and am already feeling better. Just realized that the constant 'clicking' in my neck isn't happening nearly as much and back is feeling better. As great as some docs are, they don't know everything - only what they are taught and thinking changes all the time as new discoveries are made.
Avatar m tn In serious cases, I recommend the Candida diet and in extreme cases the SCD or GAPS program. It has made a huge difference in many people suffering from a variety of systemic Auto-immune or degenerative conditions. Also look into Lyme, Pathogenic Mycoplasma and other similar infectious conditions, as an underlying or initiating cause for Fibro. It is extremely common to have such an infection or co-infection. Most Doctors are not familiar with this. Check this at immed.org or Dr. G.
7486852 tn?1410355784 When I was around 18 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my left knee, but now I'm almost 25 and I am having a lot more bone pain but the most extreme is my knees but now I have the same pain, popping, cracking in my hips, ankles, wrists, lower ribcages with a bump on the right, shoulder blades, neck, spine, and my tailbone hurts pretty bad as well, oh and the bone in the side of my foot.. i haven't been back to a specialists since the diagnosis and I have no insurance.
Avatar m tn i have moderate oa in my neck and was wondering how long before it gets to severe(hopfuly along time). usally my discomfort is a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 on bad days maybe a 5 once in a while maybe a 6.some times i think the oa makes my feet swell up sometimes my shoulder while doop to side and be uneven, and when bad i get limpy when i walk. i work at a grocey store pushing carts in alkinds of wheather. i been there 22 years and im 41 years old.
Avatar n tn I grew up and throuhout that whole time since I was 12 or 13, I have been seeing chiropractor (same one) for 25 years now I think. My whole spine is osteoarthritis. My neck is the worse. My last MRI revealed two herniated disks, one pinching my spinal cord, but no one (two neurologists and one family practitioner) thinks there's anything wrong that needs surgical intervention. I have to live this way apparentally.
432312 tn?1265648574 (That is the symptom that makes the doctors send me back to the neurologist.) I rarely have pain in my hands. I broke my foot because of the osteoporosis and that foot aches alot of the time. My neck sometimes hurts but always ( all the time) makes crunchy noises when I turn it. If my neck aches the next day it will ususally be my shoulders back and neck hurt. I have a family history for rheumatoid arthritis...
Avatar f tn Anyway, I've discovered SAM-e and it's been WONDERFUL! I've noticed a big difference in the osteoarthritis (maybe that's why I want off the hydro) and now I'm wondering if I can do anything else to help. Does acupuncture help? I've thought about it but wanted to know if anyone else has done this for pain management. I take SAM-e in the morning and afternoon w/ a super complex B. I also take kava kava which has been a godsend in the evenings and what I'm dealing w/ now w/ the withdrawal.

Avatar n tn repeatably over the past 2 years with the following symptoms. In my last visit, she pointed out to me that in my c-scan in 2004 I had moderate osteoathritis in my spine and I went for another shoulder and neck xray to see if this could be causing the problems. I am a 44 year old female PE teacher and she felt this had shown up at a young age. I have played many sports and had minor injuries.
Avatar n tn I actually have had Lupus for 4 years as you did when you wrote this in 2009. I did a google search wondering the same thing as i have Osteoarthritis as well as Lupus and today i cannot move my neck without having spasms in my neck. My mom is helping me thankfully and she also has Lupus. My sister does as well and has sjogren's. It really runs in our family. My doctor explained as zomom did that with osteoarthritis most people at our age to have some form of it.
Avatar m tn About 5 years ago, the CT scan report states, Anterior marginal spotting in the mid-cervical vertebrae and degenerative changes in apophyseal joints in the mid and lower cervical spine. No evidence of foraminal encroachment. The impression - early changes of osteoarthritis in the cervical spine. Lately I am experiencing an increased stiffness and burning sensation the the same area. Is there something that can relieve me of this? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I have arthritis in most of my joints, but I have more than one type of arthritis too. If you are looking for symptoms of osteoarthritis in the neck, they include pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, tingling or soarness in the arms, headaches and even balance problems.
Avatar m tn lately, for about the past two weeks, I have had a pain that is sharp in nature on the left side of my neck. Its not surface pain, but rather inside of the neck, closer to my esophagus than anything, but it feels very sharp. I have seen a chiro before about back/posture issues, but just wondering if anyone else has had this or not. Im 32 and in relatively good health.
Avatar m tn I was at A and E last night with what i thought was severe headaches, but was diagnosed with arthrites in upper neck which is causing pain in my head but is actually from my neck. What is the best way to handle this pain please.?????????????? Was given Difene tabs bruffen and losec.
Avatar n tn what are the treatments for arthritis in your neck, and goes down to your shoulders?
Avatar n tn Creeking and cracking noises in joints are referred to as crepitus. You probably have some osteoarthritis in the cervical vetebrae (spine in the neck). You can mention this when you see your doctor as he may refer you to phsyiotherapy for neck exercises. But unfortunately there is no cure for this. As we get older the cartilage in between each vetebrae (bone) shrinks. Best wishes.
