Avatar n tn Recently, I have been really experiencing more joint pain than usual in my shoulders, hands, knees and jaw (7months of pain). I get bone pain and also shooting pains (which have no diagnosis). My thumb knuckles are starting to pop out to the side. I have a bad back (no cushion between 4 and 5 + more) and have experienced pain like no other. A Baker's Cyst also popped up last month at an also bad knee (torn ligaments never corrected).
Avatar n tn 7 Steps to a Pain-Free Life: How to Rapidly Relieve Back and Neck Pain Robin McKenzie, Craig Kubey Upper back curved forward, lower back flat or no lordosis, shoulders up (high shoulder) or shoulders hunched over and pulled forward, are all causes, but the neck craned forward... is the root cause. Short scalenes muscles cause the worst problems.
748543 tn?1463449675 One of the most difficult concepts to get across to my TMD patients and other doctors is the connectivity of the Jaw and the Neck. In fact, it is my strong belief that TMD/TMJ should really be classified as a Craniocervical Disease and hence fall under the umbrella of medical coverage rather than treated strictly as a dental problem. To the Neuromuscular-minded dentist, "Occlusion" is an extension of general Postural Consideration.
Avatar n tn The pain I experience is usually in my left inner thigh but last week it was in both of my inner thighs. The pain is a slicing excruciating pain that is horrible. I have had three children so I know what pain is, but this is horrible pain. It feels like someone is stabbing me. It doesn't happen very often and I have experienced this pain for the past several years. I am 58 years old, I am 5'8" and weigh 165 lbs. I exercise frequently and am in good health.
476246 tn?1418874514 It may surprise you to learn that these abnormal sensations rarely originate in the fingers and hands but are almost always the effects of trigger points in muscles of the neck, chest, upper back, shoulders, upper arms, and forearms. This is called “referred pain.” Trigger points typically send their pain elsewhere. a forearm muscle that operates the fingers, are the prime cause of stiff fingers.
Avatar n tn Almost four months after surgery, I am still experiencing massive swelling and excruiating pain with inflammation. I was having a great recovery for the first ten days, then BAM! My leg, knee and ankle swelled to gigantic proportions. My doctor has said only that I have arthritis in my knee and I have to be patient. On at least three occasions, I have been in tears in his office and asking what to do about it. He still tells me be patient. This is surely not normal.
Avatar n tn In the last year I started to also develope pain in my neck, shoulders as well as low back. I have had MRI's done of the Cervical spine(neck region) and Lumbar spine (lower back) I have a lg hernated disc in my neck and degenetive disc disease with an annular tear in my lower back. I am going to also request my doctors to do an MRI of Thoracic spine (middle back) because they haven't done an MRI of that section yet.
Avatar n tn Better after a few minutes of being upright and moving around. Also have right shoulder and neck pain. Has been going on for years. All test clear. Definitely think it is musculoskeletal. But, something is triggering this and want to know what. Definitely think it is intestinal. Top 3 possible causes, food allergy, blockage-nearing-sag somewhere in intestines, or intestinal parasites.
211940 tn?1267884866 The compression of the median nerve can cause pain all the way up to the neck and is not relieved by pain meds because it is nerve pain. I finally caved in and decided to have carpal tunnel release surgery in the right hand (even though the doctor said it was well advanced and may not relieve the pain in my arm if there is damage to the nerve). I am happy to say that the pain in my upper arm and the numbness in my hand is completely gone!
4226456 tn?1354123528 (early) due to side effects and now I am experiencing joint pain, stiffnes that started a couple months after treatment. When I sit for any period of time, my hips are so stiff and my feet are stiff too. My feet feel like they can't hold me up. Ambulation is not so easy. After a few moments of being up on my feet and walking the discomfort and stiffness goes away. I am also experiencing wrist pain, carpel tunnel type symptoms in one hand that I dont use much for writing or anything.
Avatar n tn I am a male, 46yrs old 6ft and weigh 175 lbs. My pain comes and goes and has for about 6 months. It is not severe pain, but at times is more annoying than anything. It feels like there is something in there pinching me. I went to an internal med MD in July. He ran blood tests that all came back fine. He sent me to have an abdominal ultrasound which showed only "healthy" organs. No dilated bile duct, no gall stones, liver enzymes were in normal range.
590279 tn?1286339622 I did some physical therapy and achieved some relief but still deal with the facial pain, neck pain and dizziness on occasion. Your posts made me wonder if there yet another thing I should investigate in the hope of finding relief and a NORMAL life again. I wanted to share my diagnosis with you all in case you found it helpful.
Avatar m tn I'm a 24 yo male. 6' 2", 170 lbs. In 'good health'. On random (no pattern) I will experience a wave of dizziness and racing heart that makes me feel unsteady but this is more of the "aura" before I experience an "episode". History of migraines(pain), scoliosis, osteoarthritis in cervical spine, and epilepsy. Episode Symptoms: Fast onset, lasting time 40s-2min. Sense of time is altered, hard to concentrate or focus/answer simple questions.
Avatar f tn Let me start by saying I am in pain everyday from head to toe, I am 64 & otherwise in good health. I am currently being treated by a Rheumatologist for cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc disease, osteoarthritis of ankle & foot and Achilles tendonitis. and am not getting much relief. What concerns me the pain which occurs at the base of my head, if I turn my head while lying down, I can hear crackle from that area & pain follows.
Avatar m tn Subutex and Suboxone are far behind in FDA approval for moderate pain....plus.there's no real effects from the neck up with buprenorphne and NO Tolerance as seen with pure agonists... good Luck.. They tried to send numerous patients < 50 yrs old to pain management and knowing and following buprenorphine for years....It is a shame it is not already FDA approved to treat chronic pain conditions such as interstitial cystitis, osteoarthritis, aches and pains associated with aging... etc.
Avatar m tn He said that due to the length of time that the nerve was affected, I may or may not get all feeling back after surgery, so I knew that was a possibility. I had a slight stiff neck but no other pain. Incision was closed with some subdermal sutures and Dermabond (kind of like superglue for skin) over the top of the wound. Not even a bandage. No incision pain at all. Before he discharged me, he said I may experience some discomfort at the back of my neck and shoulders and between my scapula.
329994 tn?1301666848 I was sitting in your office in horrible pain in my neck, shoulders and upper arms and was near tears. I asked you if it could be fibromyalgia (a legitimate question to ask a Rheumatologist) and your reply was “Fibromyalgia is a psychosomatic illness and I don’t believe in it”. The previous year when I had visited your office and told you that I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, you made the same comment and that was the reason I did not return to your office.
5692606 tn?1372495303 I was diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis and Degenerative Lumbar Spine Disease some 10 - 12 years ago which affects mostly my back, hips and shoulders but also my knees and neck and as time has gone by the pain has become increasingly worse. Recently an x-ray to my lumbar spine revealed this: Minor reduction of the L1 and L2 on the behalf of the superior endplates anteriorly. Presence of transitional lumbar vertebra (L6). Presence of marginal osteophytes. Narrowing of the disc space.
Avatar f tn After surgery the pain was gone!!!! My neck injury happened in April of 2007 and I had surgery in July of 08. Good Luck you are in my prayers.
Avatar f tn How about your neck? Do you have any problem there. Some problems in the cervical vertebrae can throw a pain in the head and face. 9. Why was Amox+Clav prescribed? Yeah, allergy to Clav is unusual and that to penicillin group is common. But we have to be open to 'news'. 10. Do you think you can post digital photos of your CT scans on the web? I could take a peek. Hope this helps. Don't loose heart. Best, Dr.
Avatar f tn I'm having intense neck pain and stiffness as well as indescribable (I'm sure many of you know) building pressure from the back of my head through my ears. I'm having trouble with my words and feel weak with some tingling in my legs and some blurred vision. While these symptoms aren't new, they are extreme today and I'm wondering if my exacerbated symptoms today is random or if there was something I did (or didn't do) to make things worse today. I'm in so much pain, I'm in tears.
Avatar f tn Headaches, Dizziness(Which comes and goes), Eye Infections along with pain (that have been pretty constant)(have to take antibiotics to clear that up only to come right back),light sensitivity(have to wear shades to see well) ear and jaw pain, cervical (neck) pain due to ruptured disc that still has not healed, thoracic spine pain due to bone spurs and lower back pain (have bulging disc) but don't know what causes so much pain, leg pain, severe muscle spasms and muscle weakness over entire body
4494800 tn?1355444091 ear pain, temple pain, and bottom of jaw pain), the clicking in the back of your head would not fit. Clicking in the jaw joint, however would match up with a TMJ issue. So, you are likely describing two different things- one has to do with your TMJ, but the clicking in the back of your head (if not being misperceived as coming from that location) may have a different source- have you tried neck exercises where you hear this clicking? (I noticed you mentioned shaking your head)?
748543 tn?1463449675 As one who treats patients with most severe TMD symptoms, I can assure you that my patients are unable to manage the pain associated with these conditions by simply receiving counseling on their habits. What's more is that I find that dental malocclusion is frequently one of the principle causes of the TMD. The article went on commenting that MRI and CAT scans are among the biggest advances in diagnosis of TMD, that is just ludicrous.

Avatar n tn On his they used some of his hip bone for the fusion. He complained more about hip pain than neck pain. Good Luck with your surgery and don't take it as lightly as other poster did. Everyone is different in the way they heal and some push themselves through the pain when they should not.
Avatar f tn Hi - so nice to see a site with so many people helping each other, I need some of that! I'm a 49 year old stressed out single mom. A couple of months ago I noticed a lump in my neck, had a FNA and came back as benign hemorrhagic degenerative cyst. Then I noticed another lump on the lower right of my thyroid (didn't even know much about the thyroid before this)(other lump is upper left) my doc.
Avatar n tn So much so, I get nosebleeds and have to take guifenesen and evoxac to keep eyes in tears and nose moist enough, yet still have terrible pain. You could visit an area for a few weeks to see if your pain improves before moving there. Where are you? Warm does sound good right now. We actually have snow on the ground. I've lived in Tucson and it is a very big city, has some nice parts, and probably isn't as pricey as SD.
209987 tn?1451939065 I have no idea what they are doing to my knee, other than digging out a bone chip that has apparently been there since I was 12 years old...had an accident that summer and the pain has been there ever since...43 now...pain comes and goes. They finally did an xray after all these years of screaming my head off over the pain. Doc only said " Yup. I would be swearing too". when he read the results...nice. Ugh. I can't sit still...the ants in my pants won't let me! I have kids...
Avatar n tn For example, it happened today and began with concentrated burst of pain half way up my inner left thigh. This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later.
