529224 tn?1400651819 Is it the distance that I need to walk everyday, or the distance that I can walk at a stretch without much pain , or the distance that I can somehow walk (with much pain)? I shall revert on receipt of your clarification. Regards, - Sarit.
Avatar f tn Hi lonikay, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that I'm glad that you have found the Forum. I need for you to understand that there are NO Doctors on the Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients and try to help each other by sharing our expertise and experiences we have had with our pain conditions. I'm so sorry that you are having these problems with your Arthritis. I also, suffer from Osteoarthritis. I know how VERY painful it is.
Avatar m tn I have pain in the right knee for two years now. X-rays show lack of fluid in the knee. Thus giving lot of pain. I have tried all sorts of therapies, but to no effect. I am now thinking of either get a shot or replace the knees. The left knee is also on the brink. I have to use pain killers. Please advise about taking a shot if I should take a shot of Synvisc-One. This discussion is related to Changing from Supartz to Synvisc-One shots.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis in my neck moderate and mild in lower back. Can and adjusment help? will they even do an adjustment me? i seem to be losing sensativity in my legs but dont know if iy du to oa in back nad neck.any help would be great. thank you.
Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis in my back and hips. The physiotherapist has given me exercises to help with the pain. Best thing is to keep active, if you can. Hopefully the ortho will help, and a rheumatologist, like I have seen, will help you cope with the arthritis.
1175033 tn?1492204828 I know people young than I who've had it done, and they agree it's the best thing they ever did. I had terrible low back pain and sciatic nerve pain until the hips were replaced, now it's pretty much gone. :) Hang in there!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about 6 months ago with osteoarthritis in my L4/5 and was told it was a moderate case by my GP. I've had back pain going back 10yrs, but they just figured it out recently. My problem is that my doctor is refusing to do pain control even with my CT and Xrays showing up postive. I've told her I'm looking for pain relief and not to get high. In the last 3 months or so, it's been 5/7 days with moderate pain and I'm taking the max amount of Motrin and T1's possible.
Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry your doctor is making you wait until your Dec appt to get a referral to a pain mgmt doc! Can you get your appt moved up? Ask your pharmacist if there is a pain med that would not cause probs for your kidneys and be compatible with other meds you are taking. Aside from an RX, you might try accupuncture, heat/cold therapies, topical pain relievers or massage to get relief from the pain you are experiencing.
1257704 tn?1269493583 Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. Generally pain in the back portion of the head originates from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine.
Avatar n tn I am 33yo and have just been told I have osteoarthritis in my spine. I have had ct scans and mri scans. Both show calcification and osteoarthritis from my neck to my lumbar area. I frequently get numbness in my legs and hands, severe pain to the point where walking in unbearable. I can not work around the house for more than 15min a day and employment is at the moment out of the question because my back will spasm severly at any time.
Avatar f tn I'll sometimes wrap them with a warm towel, prop them up on the coffee table, lean back, and try to watch tv or something...anything to take my mind off the pain. I know you can't sit around forever, but that should help a bit. Even a 10 minute break off of your feet should help to a small degree. Try soaking in a hot bath if you can, or a steamy shower. Maybe someone can loan you a pair of crutches for awhile.
1378884 tn?1315509445 The Prednisone is really not helping the hip or back pain pain as of yet but it's early. Is celebrez ok for inflammation relief with fewer side affects? Thanks Again.
Avatar m tn i have oa moderate in my neck mild in lower back for about 3 years now.How fast does oa get worse or stay the same?Im thinking of getting a inversion table, will that help?My legs have been feeling tired weak kinda like losing sensativity in my legs. Could that be cause of the oa in my back and neck?i feel sometimes like my body is lopsided a bit.
7486852 tn?1410355784 When I was around 18 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my left knee, but now I'm almost 25 and I am having a lot more bone pain but the most extreme is my knees but now I have the same pain, popping, cracking in my hips, ankles, wrists, lower ribcages with a bump on the right, shoulder blades, neck, spine, and my tailbone hurts pretty bad as well, oh and the bone in the side of my foot.. i haven't been back to a specialists since the diagnosis and I have no insurance.
408795 tn?1324939275 I have extensive Osteoarthritis in my upper back and neck from an accident I was in over 20yrs ago. I had an accident and I broke my right leg and my left arm. As a result my right leg is slightly bowed and therefore around a half inch shorter than my left leg. As a result it has affected my back and neck. Lately my legs have been swelling and itching, mostly the left. I certainly feel it's all related to my right leg injury.
Avatar n tn Hi a year ago I visited my GP with left hip and upper thigh pain. He sent me for an X-Ray which showed early arthritis changes. He sent for a course of Physiotherapy which I attended for 6months. In the end I stopped going because after the initial mild improvement in pain there was no further improvement. I am taking 1500mg Glucosamine Sulphate + 1200mg Marine Chondroitin + 1000mg Omega 3 fish oil daily.
1459410 tn?1285698605 I just found this forum, though I've been a member of the chronic pain forum for months now. I developed osteoarthritis young. I can remember back to my twenties and feeling it on and off, though it was mild. My mom was debilitated by it and on my dad's side, I had two aunts crippled by it. I'm 48 now and have it in my hands, hips, knee, back and ankle. The worst is my hand. I won't go into too much detail as it's a very long story but I think I have the details in my profile.
Avatar n tn Also degeneration between same discs shows on the X-rays. I experience pain, especially in the 2 areas that lead to neck and headaches. What other areas of my body does this affect? I do on occasion experience numbness and tingling in both hands and fingers, but will stop when massaged. So, I am looking for other symptoms in my body resulting from the spurs touching nerves in both areas. Thank you. John.
Avatar f tn I have been to see a neurosurgeon yesterday as my lower back pain is torture. I cannot stand or walk for more than 10mins. The surgeon has recommended burning the nerves associated with the last 2 discs. Is any other option. I have already had injections L4/5 with no effect. I have osteoarthritis.
Avatar n tn But I feel like I need to respectfully disagree with his opinion that it isn't related to the accident due to my medical history - I've never had any constant joint pain anywhere except my ankle that's given me problems since I twisted it as a kid. Would it be fair to present my case to another orthopedist with my opinion for review? If it's as advanced as my orthopedist is leading me to believe, shouldn't it have been clinically diagnosable with x-rays alone? Opinions appreciated.
432312 tn?1265648574 I am over weight as my back pain sometimes causes me to not want to move at all. Ok here is my question. I think I have arthritis of some sort. I have been to many doctors. Sometimes they tell me that it must be a symptom of my MS. My MS doctor says that it could be but that since he isn't a back doctor he doesn't know. Mostly my lower back is affected. a dull ache that doesn't go away. Standing makes it much worse.
Avatar m tn 23 year old male who is concerned about this problem. I have been having knee pain for 3 years. Sometimes it's good, other times I get pain. It's not debilitating, but it's a dull ache when resting or bending the knees (sitting with crossed legs) sometimes pain radiates into my shin They also sometimes make sounds. When straightening my knee, it makes a pop or a couple cracks. I also have a small bakers cyst on one leg. I've done an xray which was normal.
Avatar m tn Based on my description does this sound like osteoarthritis? Are there any further tests you would recommend? My only other symptoms are occasional back pain and occasional tenderness around my rib cage. I have also been diagnosed with diverticulitis, although it doesn't flare up often.
1176578 tn?1263756689 I see my family doc (first check up in 4 years in a couple of weeks) and I'd like to know the right tests to ask for. I am in constant pain despite the pain medication. I have a great job and family, my husband is a tennis teaching pro and my kids and he are fit and slim. I feel I am missing out on so much because my pain and extreme fatigue keeps me sidelined.
Avatar f tn on top of it all. I am having the same pain behind my knee which goes up and down the back of my leg - mostly down. At times it feels as if my knee is dislocating, but I don't think it is...I'm not sure. I was also told (at the time per the MRI) that I had a small tear in the minisucs (sp?) and that going in and fixing that tear would create more of a problem for me than I already had. I am overweight on top of it all but I've lost 104 lbs so far and am trying.
Avatar f tn if I out live the implant-so be it, back to the or for another overhaul..I am in less pain already than prior to surgery....Best of luck in your decision. Not much osteo discusion here, more RA centered.. hope this relates in some way. http://surfacehippy.info/hiptalk/index.php?PHPSESSID=ae5cd1bbf41b155b2775c219bc4f2b9b&topic=1351.
Avatar m tn I have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my large toe. I believe it is from repeated trauma to that joints having been climbing a local mountain and upon descending much stress is put on that lead foot. I take glucosamine and that's about it, although I do wear insoles in my running shoes that help a bit. There is swelling that doesn't diminish and pain is intermittent. I'm considering checking into surgery and wonder if anyone has any advice about this. Thanks !
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis all down my back and I have spinal stenosis because of it.
