Avatar f tn Hi lonikay, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that I'm glad that you have found the Forum. I need for you to understand that there are NO Doctors on the Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients and try to help each other by sharing our expertise and experiences we have had with our pain conditions. I'm so sorry that you are having these problems with your Arthritis. I also, suffer from Osteoarthritis. I know how VERY painful it is.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about 6 months ago with osteoarthritis in my L4/5 and was told it was a moderate case by my GP. I've had back pain going back 10yrs, but they just figured it out recently. My problem is that my doctor is refusing to do pain control even with my CT and Xrays showing up postive. I've told her I'm looking for pain relief and not to get high. In the last 3 months or so, it's been 5/7 days with moderate pain and I'm taking the max amount of Motrin and T1's possible.
Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar n tn I am 33yo and have just been told I have osteoarthritis in my spine. I have had ct scans and mri scans. Both show calcification and osteoarthritis from my neck to my lumbar area. I frequently get numbness in my legs and hands, severe pain to the point where walking in unbearable. I can not work around the house for more than 15min a day and employment is at the moment out of the question because my back will spasm severly at any time.
Avatar m tn i have oa moderate in my neck mild in lower back for about 3 years now.How fast does oa get worse or stay the same?Im thinking of getting a inversion table, will that help?My legs have been feeling tired weak kinda like losing sensativity in my legs. Could that be cause of the oa in my back and neck?i feel sometimes like my body is lopsided a bit.
7486852 tn?1410355784 When I was around 18 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my left knee, but now I'm almost 25 and I am having a lot more bone pain but the most extreme is my knees but now I have the same pain, popping, cracking in my hips, ankles, wrists, lower ribcages with a bump on the right, shoulder blades, neck, spine, and my tailbone hurts pretty bad as well, oh and the bone in the side of my foot.. i haven't been back to a specialists since the diagnosis and I have no insurance.
1459410 tn?1285698605 I just found this forum, though I've been a member of the chronic pain forum for months now. I developed osteoarthritis young. I can remember back to my twenties and feeling it on and off, though it was mild. My mom was debilitated by it and on my dad's side, I had two aunts crippled by it. I'm 48 now and have it in my hands, hips, knee, back and ankle. The worst is my hand. I won't go into too much detail as it's a very long story but I think I have the details in my profile.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with osteoarthrits yesterday. I'm 22. I was in a bad car accident November 26th, 2008. Full work up done after the accident, x-rays of most major joints and entire spine. No one said anything about arthritis at that time. I had a spine MRI performed in late March. Now all of the sudden I'm riddled with arthritis, and the degeneration is compressing discs and nerves. My Orthopedist seems to feel that the arthritis is not related to the wreck.
Avatar m tn Based on my description does this sound like osteoarthritis? Are there any further tests you would recommend? My only other symptoms are occasional back pain and occasional tenderness around my rib cage. I have also been diagnosed with diverticulitis, although it doesn't flare up often.
Avatar f tn on top of it all. I am having the same pain behind my knee which goes up and down the back of my leg - mostly down. At times it feels as if my knee is dislocating, but I don't think it is...I'm not sure. I was also told (at the time per the MRI) that I had a small tear in the minisucs (sp?) and that going in and fixing that tear would create more of a problem for me than I already had. I am overweight on top of it all but I've lost 104 lbs so far and am trying.
Avatar f tn if I out live the implant-so be it, back to the or for another overhaul..I am in less pain already than prior to surgery....Best of luck in your decision. Not much osteo discusion here, more RA centered.. hope this relates in some way. http://surfacehippy.info/hiptalk/index.php?PHPSESSID=ae5cd1bbf41b155b2775c219bc4f2b9b&topic=1351.
Avatar f tn I have severe back pain that prevents me even walking a mile, sometimes my upper swells while I sit at work but my lower feels like a block of pain when I walk its easy to know where it hurts because it'll be red and hot. Anyone else experience this.
8317359 tn?1397624939 After a week of so of recovery, it can reduce my facet syndrome related pain by half. Alas, the nerves grow back, and the procedure has to be repeated every year or so. RF ablation works better than any other modality I've tried in over 30 years of neck and back pain.
550432 tn?1215136917 I get some back pain in the thoracic spine in the T1-2 area and the T8. The big problem is that I get really bad chest spasm in the center of my chest near the collar bone and below. My Neurologist says the MRI doesn't seem to show any pinched nerves or bone spurs causing the pain. The only way to get some relief is to use the Homedics massager to attempt to align the spine. This used to work well but as time goes on it does less good.
Avatar m tn Spinal stenosis is narrowing of the spinal canal which can encroach upon the nearby nerve roots, causing pain. Opioid pain medications can significantly help the low back pain but not so much the leg pain. I am on the Fentanyl patch along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain and I still deal with significant nerve pain that shoots down my legs. Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) helps way more than the opioid medications do for this type of pain. Have you tried Neurontin or Lyrica?
Avatar m tn For example, had you have known that the heavy wallet you kept for the past 30 years in your right rear pocket couple with driving an automobile with the seat all the way back, plus adding in an extra 20 pounds around the waste is the real problem not the pain in your back. The wallet causing you to sit off center and the driving with your legs straight out forces you to pull on your lower back instead of pulling the seat closer using more of your knees than back might show you some relief.
Avatar f tn I have tried wheat bags in the past, is this the same as the arthritis pad? I have pain going down the backs of the legs, lower back pain, upper back stiffness and sometimes pain in the thighs and hips, depending on the day. I don't think my doctor realizes the pain I'm in as all he will give me is Tramal 50mg. I am waiting on a neural blockade bilaterally and haven't worked in 2 months. Are you working? Im hoping to get a job a few days a week where I can sit and move around!!
Avatar n tn Recently, I have been really experiencing more joint pain than usual in my shoulders, hands, knees and jaw (7months of pain). I get bone pain and also shooting pains (which have no diagnosis). My thumb knuckles are starting to pop out to the side. I have a bad back (no cushion between 4 and 5 + more) and have experienced pain like no other. A Baker's Cyst also popped up last month at an also bad knee (torn ligaments never corrected).
Avatar f tn There are no surgical options for me and therefore pain management and pain meds are all I can rely on right now. I too feel like all this pain has ruined my life. I have to say you definitely need to speak with your doctor about the pain that you are suffering, he/she can try some opioids to help with the pain untill your operation. I can imagine 5 weeks can feel like forever when you are in so much pain and you really need something to help with it.
Avatar m tn I was great for a few weeks then the locking and general pain came back. Not as often as it used to but still painful and such. Also, now my left knee which used to rarely ever lock or hurt is now doing both. They lock on me and just in general hurt. So I went back to my surgeon and he got another X ray which didnt show anything that different and ordered blood work and a MRI which we are going to look at at my next appointment.
765802 tn?1263304451 She also said there isn't anything they can do for my Osteoarthristis except take what I have been taking for pain. I have the pain/osteoarthritis in my fingers, knees, back, feet & ankles, shoulder probably. I guess you could say everywhere. I was wondering what happens, do I loose all my bone in these areas? I have problems getting up I told her from my bed, couch, etc. I do get up after a while and it seems ok rest of the day. Except I have a limp, and I have trouble with walking.
Avatar m tn 54yr old female, have had this chronic lower back pain that radiates to hip area.I do have arthritis in lower back and hip,but the meds for it does nothing.I stretch every night before bed and every morning before getting out to no avail.I look like I'm 90 yrs old after a pain full ten minutes of trying to get out of bed.I have to inhale to stand up straight(omg the pain) but once I pee and get into kitchen for coffee I'm fine. The only doctor I haven't seen is a nerve doctor.
Avatar m tn Note that the above recommendations take time to work-unlike drugs- their action is gradual. Back pain ****s. I sympathise with you, as I went through it in the past, following a nasty injury in martial arts. I managed to take care of it on my own, and I'm glad it's all behind me, because it really messes up your life. If you need more suggestions, let me know, as I have many natural remedies "up my sleeve". lol! Take care.
785373 tn?1236332003 Now I have a pretty good one, and went to the Dr's the other day was given Vicoden, Naproxen, and Predisone. Was given a MRI of hip, and back. Doctor says she also thinks the pain comes from back. Havent got results back yet. Pain starts in hip, usually when lying down or sitting in a certain type of chair. Goes down the back of my leg, down to my ankle, sometimes into my toes, sometimes into my heel.
Avatar f tn It can be like the chicken and the egg - stress causes pain, pain causes more stress, which causes more pain, etc. Make stress management part of your overall self-care plan. It won't hurt, and it might help. It sounds like you've been doing a lot of research into your symptoms. It's absolutely a good thing to educate yourself, however if you don't know what your dealing with, navigating the confusing labyrinth of symptoms and possible causes can increase your anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with buldging L3 - L5 disks with a bone spur. I also have osteoarthritis in back and both hips. I was diagnosed by an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in spinal treatments. I began an excercise routine and found the pain too great to excercise. I have had MRI w/contrast and spinal X-rays. I was told to start with steroid epidural shots to the L4-L5 area. I have had first shot.
Avatar n tn At the time my neck and back hurt. The next day it was better and pain was in my elbow. April 7 2005 I had an ulnar nerve transposition to the right arm. Since then my pain is worse. It is now sharp shooting pains in my neck, shoulder, and right arm.(sometimes into my head also.) All on right side. Also my neck pops really loudly now, and my shoulder burns and feels heavy. I had a cervical MRI in Sept 2005. My doctor (work comp) said it was normal but put me in PT.
Avatar n tn The injections of this nature are most effective if the facet and sacroiliac joints are the pain generators. Testing for pain control with a temporary anesthetic injection is done to assure that the area injected is the pain generator. I would recommend you post a new question with the specific type of injection being recommended so that other community members have a clear understanding of the treatment being recommended.
Avatar n tn I have been to 2 different doctors and had an MRI and there seems to be no cause for my severe burning pain in my upper back in my scapula area. The pain meds do not even take all the pain away and the Dr. says I have a pulled muscle and wants me to do physical therapy. My MRI says I have C4-C5 Subtle disc bulge, C5-C6 Unicate hypertrophy and C6-C7 Disc bulge. The Dr. said my MRI was fine but my report says different. Why would he say I am fine when I am clearly in severe pain...
