Avatar m tn My sister, 61 years old, has scoliosis and severe osteoarthritis in her lower back. She endures debilitating pain. Since she is an alcoholic, she is not a candidate for traditional pain killers or opioids. 1. Would Baclofen be a possible treatment for managing her pain? 2. Is it possible that Baclofen might have a secondary, off-label, benefit of being a possible treatment for the alcoholism?
Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis in my back and hips. The physiotherapist has given me exercises to help with the pain. Best thing is to keep active, if you can. Hopefully the ortho will help, and a rheumatologist, like I have seen, will help you cope with the arthritis.
Avatar m tn For example, had you have known that the heavy wallet you kept for the past 30 years in your right rear pocket couple with driving an automobile with the seat all the way back, plus adding in an extra 20 pounds around the waste is the real problem not the pain in your back. The wallet causing you to sit off center and the driving with your legs straight out forces you to pull on your lower back instead of pulling the seat closer using more of your knees than back might show you some relief.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis all down my back and I have spinal stenosis because of it.
Avatar n tn HI critterhappy, the only qualifications I have to answer you're question is that I too have osteoarthritis of the lower back and possibly hips...I can't say I've ever heard or felt any 'popping' in my back....this would to me indicated that something is out of alignment perhaps?...do you feel alot of pain when this happens? Does it feel to you as if some bones are rubbing on one another?

650397 tn?1228831384 Hello, Without examination, confirming a diagnosis is tough but the various possibilities for your symptoms are muscle fatigue or strain from overuse, stress fracture, tendonitis, claudication, osteomyelitis, arthritis(osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or inefctive arthritis), nerve damage like sciatic nerve pain (radiating pain down the leg) caused by a slipped disk in the back or benign tumors or cystsof the bones.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar f tn It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar m tn This is also my excruciating story...so much pain in the tailbone and hip and lower back area. Standing for no more than 10 to 15 minutes. A trip to walmart is torture. I also have barretts esophagus and cannot take any NSAIDS...life can be miserable and It is well for us to keep a good outlook and get plenty of sleep to deal with these pains, but I am hopeful that some day there will be a pain med for me!
Avatar m tn As I sit here typing this I have a stabbing pain in on the lower right side of my abdomen and a throbbing pain in my lower back. I recently had a test done under anestesia where the doctor put a camera in my bladder. He did not take and biopsies and said that my bladder was unremarkable. I did have a ct scan of my pelvic area and it came back showing that I had a renal cyst in my right kydney but the doctor said this is common and would not be the cause of the pain.
1378884 tn?1315505845 It can be injected directly into a joint to ease pain and swelling, given in an intramuscular injection or taken orally to quiet an overall RA flare-up, inhaled to help asthma and COPD patients breathe better, and more. My mom takes injections in her lower back to temporarily ease pain. My guess is you have a low back injury that is irritating the sciatic nerve, which travels down the back of your hip and down your leg.
1448748 tn?1312956208 I have had severe joint type pain since october that has gotten worse and worse since then and Ive tried physical therapy and I also had a sacro illiac joing injection that seemed to help after 5 days it seemed to help the low back area, but not the hips or legs, then after about 8-9 days I got a little bit of releif through my hips for about 3 days and then all of the pain came back... and now it seems as though I have another type of pain on top of it...
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with fibro 6 years ago, symptoms such as a numb foot for 3 months, numb/pins & needles in groin, hand & feet. Avatar m tn Place your fingers on the back of your head and pull your elbows and shoulders back, keeping your chest raised. Lower your body as far as you can by pushing your hips back and bending your knees, as if you're about to sit in a chair. Pause, then slowly push yourself back to the standing position. Make It Easier: Grip the arms of a chair for extra support as you lower yourself. Overhead Dumbbell Squat Stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
Avatar m tn I have pain in the right knee for two years now. X-rays show lack of fluid in the knee. Thus giving lot of pain. I have tried all sorts of therapies, but to no effect. I am now thinking of either get a shot or replace the knees. The left knee is also on the brink. I have to use pain killers. Please advise about taking a shot if I should take a shot of Synvisc-One. This discussion is related to Changing from Supartz to Synvisc-One shots.
Avatar n tn the doctor says I have arthritis behind the front of the knee and he repaired the torn tendons, and said after recovery he would treat the arthritis in the office. I started physical therapy two and a half weeks ago, but now I have developed a pain on the outside of the RIGHT buttock or hip.. the pain doesn't bother me when i am sitting or laying down, but walking is excruciating and it radiates to the back of the thigh and the outside of the upper calf... what can this be?
Avatar m tn Can back ddd cause neck grinding with pain. Also knee grinding with pain? Plus right elbow grinding with pain. Also feet problems.
Avatar f tn I researched this a bit on the web, and found that it could be caused from either medications that I take or from the lower back injury (compressed/herniated discs). The medications are oxycodone, Nortyptalyne (sp?), and Ambien. Have you come across patients with this issue. The weird thing is, I have been on these medications for a couple of years now, and this just started a couple of weeks ago.
