Osteoarthritis back ache

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis back ache

432312 tn?1265648574 My MS doctor says that it could be but that since he isn't a back doctor he doesn't know. Mostly my lower back is affected. a dull ache that doesn't go away. Standing makes it much worse. Sometimes when it is bad I get back spasms and you can see my muscles jump. (That is the symptom that makes the doctors send me back to the neurologist.) I rarely have pain in my hands. I broke my foot because of the osteoporosis and that foot aches alot of the time.
Avatar m tn I have been having knee pain for 3 years. Sometimes it's good, other times I get pain. It's not debilitating, but it's a dull ache when resting or bending the knees (sitting with crossed legs) sometimes pain radiates into my shin They also sometimes make sounds. When straightening my knee, it makes a pop or a couple cracks. I also have a small bakers cyst on one leg. I've done an xray which was normal. My doctor inspected them and didn't suspect arthritis.
Avatar n tn Constant fatigue, seem to need to nap 2-3 times daily real problem as I teach daily and can, at times barely stay awake) Neck and shoulders ache daily Left arm daily feels like being squeezed most days Feet swollen when I wake every morning Joints and muscles ache at night Wake up frequently pain walking upstairs radiates from neck to arm Cramps in calves-at least 1/2 weekly Hip pain every night and can be severe, mostly left but can be both Lately I have been having pain in my right ribs
Avatar n tn Just walking to the kitchen, grabbing a glass of water, sitting back down, I can sometimes get hit with it. The ache is e-x-a-c-t-l-y like what I experienced after the 5 times I tried 5k's on the street. Could it be a growing pain/something my body is doing to heal the knees or potentially caused somehow by the mineral/calcium/vit D /Strontium stuff I am now on? Been on vitamins for decades....the grow bone is the only new thingy here. Cheers!
Avatar m tn As I got older, this started happening more and more and being more painful. Then, my knees would just ache pretty much chronically. Finally, I visited an orthopedic surgeon as suggested by my wonderful PCP. We did an X-Ray, MRI, and blood work. X ray showed some damage but nothing significant. I have never had any trauma to my knees by the way. The MRI showed that I didn't have much cartilage in my right knee.
Avatar n tn In August, I woke with a bad migraine headache and the extreme dizzy was back. It lasted intensely for a week or so and then back to my daily dizzy feeling. Six weeks ago I started having bad neck pain. I do not recall a specific injury but I have been seeing a chiropractor. We reviewed the dizzy feeling that I constantly have and so far the treatments have not helped the dizzy. The sharp neck pain has let up, but I do feel an ache inside my neck that goes up to the base of my head.
5536514 tn?1373503602 Hello I am 73 and also have osteoarthritis in my spine. I have had bad back ache recently, so today went to see an osteopath to ease my pain. Costs a lot, and I don't have much money, but it is worth it if pain is eased. I saw my doctor yesterday and offered co-codamol tablets, but I am loathe to take them as they can cause dependence. I had depression for over 20 years and recently it took me 10 mon ths to withdraw from them. I don't want to become dependant on other medication.
387767 tn?1345875627 How would you describe your pain, As a sharp burning pain that shoot down your butt or a dull ache that's located in your lower back and butt? I've had both. I had a bad case of scatia about a year ago and i was in pain everyday. The pain was hot and would shoot down my butt, sometimes I'd feel a little pop just before the pain. My husband and I planned a trip to Washington and New York last summer and I almost didn't go b/c I was afraid of all the walking and my pain.
Avatar n tn If I walk or anything more than 10 min or so, my lower back stiffens up and I have a severe dull ache, as in my arms and hands. All these problems started with minor trauma. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn Additionally, I have had outer thigh muscle ache and lower back aches. Are these to be expected with problems like mine?
Avatar n tn I feel like I am reading myself. I have the same problems with my back. I am unable to stand or walk for no more than a minute or two. I have been diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease & Osteoarthritis. I have 2 discs in my back that are completely dried out. Absolutely no fluid. So it is just vertebrae on vertebrae. Avatar f tn It tools a year and a half to find out that I had a annular tear and bulging in between L4 and L5 disks in my back. I had to quit being a CNA due to enormous amounts of pain. I got a lawyer and settled for some money to help....though u can't put an amount on being pain the rest of your life. Over the last 6 months the pain has gotten worse. I've had 3 injections and have tried the following drugs: gabapentin, lyrica, Cymbalta, amnitripaline, and naproxen 500. Nome of these provide relief.
Avatar f tn They are probably from nerve irritation in your back, possibly from osteoarthritis. I would recommend that you be seen by a neurologist to evaluate the nerves in your legs. With the symptoms also in your hands and tongue, you can't rule-out a brain problem. In that case, the neurologist would probably want to do an MRI of your brain and entire spine. That is my recommendation for you.
Avatar n tn By mid-day, the pain is a dull ache in my back. Lately this dull ache has stayed with me until bed time. Like many of you, I dread going to sleep because I know I'll wake up in excruciating pain. Ambien doesn't help me sleep through the pain. Pain killers like oxycodone (percocet, etc.) provide only minimal relief. Unfortunately I have a very high tolerance to narcotic pain killers. One 10 mg oxycodone to me is no stronger than an extra strenth tylenol.
Avatar n tn I would be anything from schoolwork, to internet browsing, to watching tv, to eating, to even just laying down in the dark and I would get these intense sharp pains on the back of my head behind my right ear. This pain only occurs in this location and it comes and goes. At first the pains were simply a nuesance as they would come and go and weren't that bad, but lately they're getting worse causing me to stop what I'm doing until they go away.

897447 tn?1242239587 When I press on the numb spot I feel tingling and pins and needles on top of my hand and in all my fingers. The back of my right eyeball feel sore, dull ache. 5/17/09 Last night when I got to go to the bathroom, my right eye was dim. My left eye was normal. I wasn’t laying on my right side. With only my right eye open, I barely could see anything mainly black. With only my left eye open, I could see the white bathroom walls and the bumps on it; I could see fine with the light from the TV.
Avatar n tn The pain also goes down my left leg and is now in my lower left back. When I don't have shooting pains in my groin, there is a dull ache. Went to the DR. today and she thinks I may have kidney stones. Could this be ovarian cyst? The pains increase during ovulation and during my period. I have had them for the last several months and my periods have been irregular. I have no constipation. Has anyone had these symptoms?
Avatar n tn It feels like its my left sholder blade and it makes me say arrr loudly when it happens. Over the past week its been making my entire upper back ache and over the last 2 days even my neck is being effected. I havent seen my gp as yet as i thought it was just an ache but now i know its not the case. Sometimes it makes my arm have a funny sensation. When i cough if its a deep cough or deep breath it also hurts. I dont know what to think and am worried about it.
Avatar m tn I did go to a walk-in clinic in early December, as this all seemed to start with a mild bronchitis which caused a lot of coughing and subsequent intercostal rib ache along with corresponding ache in the upper back. I thought that with the cough getting better the ache would go away soon after, and that physician confirmed that he thought this was what was causing the problem and "not to worry". Fast forward another 7 weeks or so, and the ache is pretty much there all the time.
Avatar n tn Now the majority of my joints seem to ache at the same time. Both hips, both knees, both ankles, both wrists. Even my shoulders ache!!! Does this sound like ostero arthritis? I always thought it only affected one joint, never all joints at the same time. And what can I do to deal with the constant pain? Is there anything natural I can take? Thank-you for your suggestions and help!!

Avatar n tn Ever since then I have experienced pain in my knees, feet, elbows and back. The pain has intensified over time. Now associated with it is a constant congestion in my chest. 653169 tn?1303449969 My niece has RA and her initial blood work also came back negative, then later positive. Has anyone else heard of RA blood test coming back negative, but patient was still found to be diagnosed with it. I have done extensive research and I fit all the criteria. My doc is treating me for Fibromyalgia too, but I have had notable, visible joint damage in joints esp. in hands and feet that I didn't think fibro could do. My knuckles are enlarged and misshaped in hands and feet.
