Avatar f tn After my first few weeks of taking Zoloft my life seemed to get back to normal and I felt great. Avatar m tn was constipation. Glucose was normal as was his WBC. Which never made sense to me (or the wonderful resident on our case), but the attending kept saying I just must not have noticed he had a decreased appetite for a long time (Believe me, I would have noticed!) At this point no one asked for a Ped Endo consult (had I know to ask, I would have). A week later our pediatrician did a fasting glucose (85), a BMP and an insulin test. We just got the insulin test back and it was only 1.

176838 tn?1211463974 My son's pediatrician called me yesterday to let me know that bloodwork done before Christmas showed that his TSH was up to 11 (it was been normal back in October or November). The labs were done because his weight gain since he was about 9-10 months has been very poor. He will gain a little bit and then plateau and then gain a little bit and then plateau. He has only gained approx. 2 pounds since he was 10 months old (that's in 8 months).

Avatar f tn Is the baby exhibiting any symptoms of hypothyroidism? Typical symptoms are fatigue, sudden weight gain, constipation, joint and body aches/pains, hair loss, cold intolerance, etc. Keep in mind that newborns, normally, sleep a lot, babies are supposed to gain weight and they don't always have "normal" bowel movements. I guess a better question would be is the baby showing any signs of discomfort?

(Serving size: one tablespoon per year of age.) One serving should be high in vitamin C and another in vitamin A.
Avatar n tn The baby has been home, doing well, eating, active, and gaining weight. She returns after 2 months with a soft, sunken fontanel and a head circumference that remains on the 5oth percentile. An MRI scan was done today and unfortunately shows heterotopias that line the ventricle as well as areas of cortical dysplasia. The ventricules are enlarged and there is partial agenesis of the corpus callosum. Unfortunately, her cerebral abnormalities are diffuse and widespread.

Avatar f tn No natural way to stop early tempo of puberty, she weighs normal weight, so obesity is not a driver(good job), there are probably some strong genetic factors. It is not too late, I do not stop puberty after age 10 but others may differ in opinion. See your pediatrician first and go from there.
Avatar n tn Read this & see if it rings any bells. good luck A Special Message To The Health Professional William G. Crook M.D. Dear Colleague: Many infants and young children who come to your office are troubled by middle ear disorders. While some children may have what appears to be a mild URI, they may complain to their mothers, "my ear hurts". Other children come in with severe ear pain, fever and purulent discharge from their nasal passages.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your response! She vomitted twice earlier today; approximately 20/30 minutes elapsed prior to her second bout of nausea. She did not drink any water yet but 'nibbled' on her dry science diet and consumed about half a can of chicken soup etc. for kittens; I was able to find a store that carried the canned kitten formula. This was @ 5pm east coast time and no nausea yet...though she does have a touch of gas.
Avatar f tn I don't know anything much about pediatrics, actually. I could make up a decent sounding answer, but its pretty much hit or miss as to accuracy.
Avatar n tn ), photosensitive rash on forehead, beginning weight 118-now 95lbs. On prednisone w/ high caloric intake no increase in weight. New labs= prealbumin high and lymphocytes 5.21 (since 2008 all lymphs have been 2.something), all else WNL. I do not have any s/s of infection. Chest x-ray revealed a nodule in R upper lobe. 3 days later CT was normal-nothing there. I now have enlarged lymph nodes in my groin and my neck. Dr said neck ones (which are very visible and rubbery) are just carotid bulbs.

116879 tn?1266519849 Hmh. I am wondering why you were not told to start with baby cereals first, like oatmeal or barley. That`s the usual way, then veggies for the reason you mentioned and then fruit. I can imagine that veggies can accelerate digestion the most, especially if this is the first solid food you are giving. The phase for cereals only lasts easily a month because you are supposed to try one grain after the other for a while to test for allergic reactions.
Avatar n tn I understand that her concern comes from the lack of growth, but I just can't help but wonder if this is just normal for him considering the size of my husband and his family. Also, I'm not sure if this has any affect, but I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disease after I had Ryan. I was not diagnosed during pregnancy, but suspect that I did have the thryoid problem during the pregnancy given the symptoms that I was having.
Avatar f tn I have an 8 and half year old girl, with a bone age that is about 10 and half years old. She is at the 40th percentile for her chronological age. I am 5' 9" tall and her father is close to 5' 7". She is of normal weight and all her blood tests have come back pretty much normal except a stimulation test that showed her to be around a 12 and half year old for hormone levels.... otherwise the hormones are 'normal'. The concern is that she may end up being very short.

Avatar n tn The doctor feels that her rectum is just so stretched from constipation, that it will take several years of laxatives to keep her cleaned out, and then her rectum will form back to normal, and all will be fine. But it's not fine. I worry with her retaining old stool day's at a time, that she has gotten some kind of infection throughout her body; and that is affecting her joints, appitite and that somehow it is all connected.
