at nighttime OTC sleep aid, lorazapam n a flexeril for sleep...i knw what methadone withdrawal is..ive done it twice. and ive done morphine withdrawal. im jus curious if lm really masking these horrible withdrawals or r they gna catch up to me whn i run outta hydros, etc? even still ive had a whole day friday of tremor type things whr i had to mve my arms n such n it was hell. anybody else ever done this? used other drugs for a short period of time to get off a bad one?
Well that went on until September 2011 started taking methadone. 40mg and day from September 2011 - June 2012. I came clean to my grandmother & stayed with her for about 3 weeks. She helped me so much. Slipped a few times and found myself on the hydrocodone again :(
I'm so tired of this!!!! I love my daughter more than anything in this world & I want us to have a good life. I have the most amazing family.
It sounds like withdrawal to me. Meds like methadone that have a very long half life are notoriously difficult to discontinue. If you can tough it out, your symptoms will eventually go away. Of course, then you can look forward to doing it all again with your next taper depending on how fast you do it. Detox is one of those things that you have to constantly tell yourself that you know you're going to feel awful, but it will be OK because it's only temporary.
It takes some time to recover. There are other peeps here that know more about methadone withdrawal and sub. Griz is one he (or she??) should be around soon , was yesterday.

I just started the triple treatment yesterday. I have been on methadone maintenance for 15 months and from what I've been reading the Incivek somehow uses your methadone faster and you will need a dosage change. Has anyone had this same issue. My gastro said not to worry about this issue too much. Just told me to keep track of symptoms but the side effect symptoms are the same as opiate withdrawal symptoms. How do I know what is is a side effect of?
) every other week than go through methadone withdrawal even once more....... That said I am extremely happy that I did it - - That I am not a slave to any narcotic handcuff today....... and I enjoy each and every new sober day in a manner that I wasnt able to while in a narcotic fog!!
From my observation (and I know it was only observation accompanied by what the people were telling me), Methadone withdrawal is far more painful and grueling than Hep C treatment. My observation and understanding is that methadone withdrawal produces severe symptoms of withdrawal which last for months. (nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal cramping, bone pain, general body pain, total exhaustion, tremors, perspiration, fever, severe runny nose to name a few).
I returned to methadone as was best option during pregnancy.(fortunately baby had no withdrawal symptoms). Haven't used heroin for about 5 years but so scared of withdrawal, thought i would be on one of the above for life. Baby now 19mths & have been withdrawing slowly so can still fulfill parental (single). I am currently on 4mg and have conflicting info regarding what to do next.
HI I always say it not so much the withdrawal that makes methadone so hard to kick but the post withdrawal energy crash........
my daughter is 33yrs old and was arrest on 8/27/08. At the time of her arrest she was on daily methadone (110mg). since they don't give methadone in jail she was forced into cold turkey withdrawal. Last thur4day she was sent to a mental health faciltiy because she is seeing things and hears voices. Please can anyone tell me is this somtimes part of the withdrawal or has she possible lost her mind.
In this instance you didnt do yourself any favors by including the methadone. Strict methadone withdrawal can be a bear. Acute withdrawals may last a couple to several weeks, with less significant problems occurring for as long as 8-12 months. What are you doing in a pro-active manner to help your body recover? Eat as well as you can, use appropriate supplements, exercise, and educate yourself. There is a wealth of information in the Health Pages of MedHelp for you to investigate....
I used 15 mg if Roxi's.. Prob about 6 a day... Now u ranout and now taking methadone, 5mg 2x a day. I wonder how bad the withdrawal will be for coming off the methadone, 5mg 2x a day. I've been in the methadone for the past 3-4 days only... Anyone know what I might go through coming off methadone 5mg 2 x a day?

Here are some facts:
There is an EXTREMELY HIGH risk of miscarriage if you detox from methadone while pregnant.
Lowering your dose WILL NOT mitigate neonatal withdrawal symptoms after birth. The fetus absorbs much of the dose, causing mom to be in constant withdrawal if dose is lowered, which is dangerous to the fetus. Federal methadone guidelines now recommend dosage increases during pregnancy.
Yes, the baby will go through withdrawal.
I know as a mother that it is not easy to see your child suffer, but understand, this is all part of recovery, your daughters body is undergoing many changes due to having little or no methadone, it will get better, but only if she stays off methadone. The symtoms of methadone withdrawals vary from person to person, mine were like riding a roller coaster, some days were good, then the next day Id feel as if I were back on my first day of detoxing, so shes gonna have good days & bad.
I believe everyone is different. I was on klonopin for 2 years and became pregnant and had to ween off of it. This was not hard. However I was unable to ween off subutex (not recommended because opiate withdrawal can be very dangerous for an unborn baby) and switched to methadone for my pregnancy which is the most studied and safest drug to take while pregnant.
GoingTo MakeIt is correct it can be mild or severe, from my own personal experience during my detox from methadone, it was bad during the first two weeks, but I still functioned, as best as I could anyway, I tapered down from 90mgs down to 2mgs then stopped, my symtoms were like many who stop methadone, no energy, depression, bad anxiety, couldnt sleep, sneezing, etc. It has been 2 1/2 months since being off methadone & I am back to my pre-methadone days, & very happy about my success!!!
Yep right here!!...I swear, & not many people believe me, but my methadone withdrawal was almost like nothing!!...I was on it for 8yrs highest dose about 100mg, & from January to March 24, 2012 I tapered completely off...by myself..no Dr...I was 3months clean & started to have bladder/kidney pain, had some surgeries, got on oxycodone for that & am currently trying to taper off it...let me tell you, it has been beyond WORSE than the methadone!!!...
