Methadone and suboxone

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone and suboxone

methadose

Avatar f tn For all intents and purposes, (as a maintenence drug)suboxone functions much the same as methadone, but it isnt monitered as strictly and doesnt require daily dispensing from a busy (and seedy) clinic. Its also very good short term as an opioid detox aide provided it is used for a very short period (2-3 weeks). I actually used suboxone to detox of an 11 and a half year methadone addiction. It worked great!
Avatar f tn what will happen if I take Methadone over Suboxone? Will it have any effects or Suboxone will block that since it is an opiiate blocker?
Avatar n tn However it may be helpful in helping you quit methadone. Ive heard withdrawal from methadone and suboxone can be very similar so I caution against long term sub use.. it seems the least amount of sub for the shortest amount of time is the best way to go. I have heard from people who used it for about 10-15 days and it helped tremendously. Do your research on it though - thats the best advice I can give you. Knowledge is power.
Avatar n tn she took a half or so of suboxone ontop of the methadone. her methadone is at 90mg doses, and im not sure how much the suboxone was. probably 4. well, she isnt doing good. shes hurting and flopping and **** ive never seen before. i never did herion had opiate withdrawal or anything of the such. what can happen to her? what can i do to help her? doctors? hospital? death? -scared fiance.
Avatar m tn You just need to first understand how suboxone works, and when and how much suboxone you need to take initially, and how much to take after your initial dose afterwards. Suboxone is a strong antagonist, which means it bonds well to the opiate receptors, but does not make you high. When it bonds to the opiate receptors, it "kicks off" other weaker opiates.
4832551 tn?1359761830 I was wondering why after almost a month I am not feeling any better and still get RLS and insomnia. I am also rxd methadone that I haven't been taking since I got suboxone strips. I was wondering if I took a 4th of one after not taking a strip no bigger than 1 cm , would I suffer worse w/d symptoms or would it take this horrible pain away and then I could just keep tappering off methadone until I feel better.
Avatar f tn can pegasys be taken with suboxone? getting ready to start peg and trying to find some someone who has taken both together. thanks all and have a great day.
Avatar f tn i have been takin suboxone for a year now and today my dr. gave me a scipt for clonidine and i have not been hearing good things about it .. he said it would help the subs work better. i told him i already have low blood pressure and he still gave it to me and didn,t even check my blood pressur ....
Avatar n tn If rehab isnt an option, then crawl into bed and detox at home- not with Methadone (in my opinion). Just cold turkey it and get yourself to a meeting asap! But really try for a rehab facility.. you may be able to get lots of info at your loccal NA meetings too.
Avatar n tn Actually I'm in the same boat. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and on 10mg. I've had 2 babies while on Methadone the 1st I was on 80mg and she had no withdrawals the 2nd I was on 40mg and she did have withdrawals and spent 12 days in the NICU and was on morphine. I was told it doesn't really depend on your dose if your baby does or doesn't withdrawal, it just depends on the baby. I'm definately trying to get off the Methadone before I have this one.
Avatar n tn So whats this Subutex? Is it the Suboxone or part of it. I'm on Suboxone and it makes me so so sick i throw up half hour after taking it. Also it gives me real bad stomach aches. Even the taste is unbearable now. Probably cause i anticipate the throwing up. It is horrible. Its turned into a nightmare I'm hoping that this week when i see the Dr. that he will switch me back onto the methadone I'm insisting on it. Not another day not another week....
Avatar f tn Most people find it difficult to come off of both methadone and Suboxone. One of the patients in our clinic, who we had to detox from Suboxone, was so addicted, that no matter how far down she titrated this drug she could not get off. At one point she was literally just licking the 1 mg strip, but she could not give it up. I find that most Suboxone prescribers tend to leave their patients on this drug as a form of maintenance and are either unwilling or unable to taper them off.
Avatar f tn I recently found out that I am pregnant. I am 6 weeks pregnant and both my suboxone dr and my obgyn dr know I am on Suboxone. I can't withdrawal from the medication now that I am pregnant because the drs say that it will cause the baby to also go through withdrawal and will most likely cause a miscarriage. I was wondering if anyone has any input? Has anyone else had a child while on Suboxone or knows of someone who has? Did the baby go through withdrawal after birth?
Avatar f tn Are you saying you are considering getting on Methadone to get off of Suboxone?? Using Methadone for almost any addiction, except possibly Heroin, is really jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Methadone has a place for very hard core Heroin addicts but almost every other drugs can be stopped with far less drastic measures. Check out Sadinmichigan journal and see what others have gone through when trying to come off of Methadone. Wishing you all the best.
Avatar f tn I was on 50 mls methadone and have been put on 16mg suboxone. Im really struggling and am going back to work tomorrow. I have no energy and still feel Wd symptoms. How long will this last?
Avatar n tn With the amount of oxy he was taken sub might not work, the dose can only go so high and then it actually acts as anti-opiate, the oens used in overdoses, whereas methadone is a full agonist and you can go higher and higher whatever you need to make you comfortable and stable. both give you a mild buzz, and both are complete hell to get off of. sub is just as hard no matter what anyone else says. its just as hard as methadone, its opiate withdrawal times two months. it *****.
Avatar m tn I heard from multiple people that Methadone is better for pain than Suboxone, and so I brought it up to my doctor. My Dr. agreed to switch me to Methadone, but not without a few caveats: 1) I will need to quit Amitriptyline because it interacts with Methadone. 2) He will only give me a maximum of 30 mg Methadone a day. I tried quitting Amitriptyline, but I started tingling and burning all throughout my body so badly that I had to go back on it.
Avatar m tn t go thru any withdrawls, and some have told me that you can not take any methadone for 48 hours before taking the suboxone, cause it will make you sick. Do you have an answer?
Avatar n tn Theres a little booklet that tells you all about suboxone. I am clean 20 days from subs. My brother was on methadone and I was on subs and I did alot better no offense to people that have good outcomes on methadone. Just my opinion. Hang in there. I think subs our a better way than the methadone.
Avatar m tn You're already on methadone and you really can't begin SUBOXONE until you're down to at least 30mg per day of methadone; last I knew. When you see the doctor tomorrow, tell him you prefer to taper the methadone...if that's what you truly want. But as I said, you need to taper down to 30 mg anyway and that's well documented.
Avatar n tn i been on tex now 4 6months an im happy an clean, but every now an den i fancy a lil buzz,i had 1 8mg tex and half 8mg suboxone, and i want to drink my 40ml of meth,1 off,wat will happen?
1253584 tn?1332877954 Although i have never tapered from suboxone as i have never used it, i was on 120 daily of methadone and had to come off of that and i have never been through anything as hard since. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I was wondering the effects of suboxone on pregnancy and being 47 years old. Does anyone have any answers?
862936 tn?1239553570 For example Im down to 1/2 a 8-2mg suboxone a day. Just want to know how many milligrams of methadone that is equal to.
