Methadone vs suboxone high

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone vs suboxone high

methadose

Avatar n tn t get high on Suboxone but you can get high on Subutex. I think your friend may be getting Subutex, especially if your tried a peice and got high. Were you in withdrawels when you tried it? If not, it would have made you sick. And if your friend is taking the Sub. like hes supose to, he should not be able to get high on other drugs. Subutex can be broken down and shot to get high, which is why most doctors will give Suboxone.
747245 tn?1233944925 So finally we got tired of being sick and started methadone at first I thought it was awesome actually at first I was high from it. I would wake up with my face in the keyboard at the computer, my husband would fall asleep driving. I started school for Medical Assistant and was proud of myself did excellent in school except for falling asleep in class a few times I would wake up to someone poking at me and everyone would be staring at me !
Avatar n tn Im not sure how long its been since your dose of suboxone, but it always took me about 1hr before I would feel its effects. I was on methadone before going to sub, tapered down from 140mgs-30mgs, then started at 8mgs/suboxone. Im not really sure how methadone compares to morphine milligram wise, but if it doesnt help then talk to your doctor about adjusting your dose. You cant expect to feel great, but it should hold off the w/d's and cravings.
Avatar n tn wih shorter use suboxone is a little milder than methadone, but they honestly are both bad. I feel like methadone was a ebtter choice for me to get off opiates for good, but everyone is different and if suboxone works for you then stick with it. I was on sub for 8 months and it worked for a few but the cravigns started getting worse and worse and I eventually succumbed. I started a MMT program and feel much more prudctive and structured than being on suboxone.
Avatar f tn This last time I quit methadone I tapered down over about 7months to 30mgs then over to suboxone. I started at 8mgs which was enough to take away all withdrawals and cravings for the most part. I was on sub for 18wks, the last month of which I was under 1mg, last two wks was down to about .25mgs before I quit. The w/d's were fairly bad but looking back not nearly as bad as I had experienced in the past when coming off high dosages of methadone.
Avatar m tn I wanted to google the methodone vs suboxone options, not only for you, but for myself as well. I don't want to give any wrong advice. Anyway, hope this helps. God Bless. http://www.orangecountydetox.com/methadone_detox.
Avatar f tn I am not allowed to say that I take methadone for pain relief. I can only say that pain relief is a side effect of methadone. Well this is fine and dandy until I started to travel for work. Clinic rules are strict and impossible to follow. Today I have had 3 doctors offer to take over my care, but none of them are legally allowed to prescribe me methadone.
Avatar m tn elvis - you asked about how long one must wait after taking methadone to take suboxone. Most docs want you to wait at least 48 hours after the last methadone dose before taking suboxone, otherwise there is a good chance of going into precipitated withdrawal because suboxone has such a high affinity for the Mu receptor and if there is another opiate on the receptor, suboxone can kick it off.
Avatar m tn As far as how long. Wait at least 48 hours after your last dose of Methadone. If you take Suboxone sooner you will only be hurting yourself as you will get REALLY sick. (you may know that already) You have to be in stages of withdrawl from Methadone for Suboxone to work. You can make an appointment with a doctor who prescribes Suboxone now and he will let you know what you need to do. Thats what I did.
Avatar f tn I too was a 20 year methadone patient. I have tried numerous times to switch to suboxone. On suboxone I cannot sleep, I have extremem anxiety, and I have no energy. I am not sick but I do not feel normal. I have been told by the manufacturer that this is a common complaint from long term methadone maintenance patients. I suggest you return to methadone. Follow your own bodies advice and ignore the rest. Only you know how your body functions and reacts to medication.
230262 tn?1316645934 First,I have never taken suboxone or subutex. However I have taken methadone for 5 years at a low dose of 30mg ,NOT,for pain but to keep off pills, and it has worked.100%. Wondering ,if you go on sub.,with it's ceiling, will there come a point that you may have to look at other alternatives anyway? This is a question only, but maybe one to consider. Methadone clinics are created in hell too.
Avatar m tn Can any MD in the state of Florida prescribe Methadone? I have been on Suboxone since 2009 and it helped me get of a high dose of Roxicodone thank god. I am on 8mgs a day and have herniated, buldging, degenitive discs with a sever reverse curve in my neck. My C4.C5. C6. C7 are all whacked and some days it kills me!! I use to get sealed bottles of 100 40mg diskettes of methadone ten years ago with ease from a General Practioner.
Avatar n tn With the metahdone you can still get high from other pills and suboxone you cant get high from pain pills when you take. I think its a good idea. I was on subs for two years wish I would have been on less but it was helpful to get my life in order. But at the same time it is addictive too so thats why I say try to be on it as short as possible. Other positives and negatives. Theres a little booklet that tells you all about suboxone. I am clean 20 days from subs.
Avatar f tn I have no problem for anyone switching from Methadone to Suboxone for the simple fact that Suboxone is infinitely safer than Methadone. Suboxone overdoses are almost non-existent. Plus, it's much more convenient for the person using it as maintenance. Either way, the best choice is the one the individual makes. Coming off either one is futile anyway if no aftercare or counseling is used as relapse is almost a given.
Avatar f tn Hi amanda, your post prompted me to look up the methadone vs suboxone ratio ( sorry, it's not like I didn't trust you..lol) anyway, that is the general consensus. That seems like waaayyy too much sub for my father in law then. MY husband is the one talking to the doc, I wonder if we should mention concern, or would it really **** him off? Thanks for the info..sorry newbee, not trying to jack your thread..how are you feeling today?? God speed, Michelle.
Avatar f tn Please try to taper off the oxys or get low enough and cold turkey (it will S*CK tremendously), you will hurt but it is actually easier than methadone or suboxone detox. Go to your doctor and make a plan to come off, he or she can give you some things like maybe clonidine, a mild muscle relaxer and an anti-inflammatory. Just please put some thought into trading one addiction for another. One that in my opinion, will put you in a worse situation.
Avatar f tn Will a month of low suboxine use give my body time to kick most of the methadone? Secondly, are suboxine withdrawls as bad as methadone and how long to they last? Thanks for any advice and any advise on alternative meds (vitamins/holistic) for withdrawls.
Avatar m tn I am on 30mls daily of methadone and now ready to go onto suboxone. Should in stay on methadone and detox off this or move onto suboxone and detox from that?
Avatar m tn Suboxone in my opinion is a better recovery drug that methadone because it simply cannot be used to get high when given to an opiate tolerant patient because it has a ceiling effect and what I mean by that is at 4mg it hits its ceiling and will do nothing more no matter how much more one takes which is why I say its a better recovery drug than methadone because I have personally seen ppl using methadone and getting high and the suboxone will also block other opiates if taken while on suboxone s
