Avatar m tn I have gone from 287 to my current weight of 213--via exercise and diet. My concern.. I'm doing crunches and stomach exercises constantly (for my lower stomach, in hopes I don't end up with that "apron" stomach that most large weight lossers get). I have about 60 more lbs to lose -- Has anyone had a large weight loss and been able to tighten up their lower stomach - to avoid a tummy tuck ?
Avatar f tn but since then i have been continuously gaining weight. and the most disappointing fact is that whenever i do exercise i look more fat as if i have swelled. whatever i do to lose weight makes me more fat.
660974 tn?1248276268 Your overall diet sounds balanced and healthy, and your exercise regimen is impressive. You also have to consider the role that PCOS could be playing - this is definitely worth discussing with your doctor and also making sure you have excluded any other hormonal abnormalities (like hypothyroidism) that could be contributing. Also keep in mind that weight is a number - you can be healthy even with a higher weight/BMI that you would ideally like.
Avatar f tn If your thyroid hormone levels are right for you, you should be able to lose weight by implementing a healthy eating plan, with moderate exercise. What are your most recent thyroid lab results? TSH, Free T3, Free T4? Do you have Hashimoto's? Please post the results, along with the lab's reference ranges.

Avatar f tn It's hard. All dieters can relate. My family all have very slow metabolisms and a history of diabetes. I've been a large girl most of my life but I have discovered something that makes losing weight very easy for me. I realize that we all lose weight differently. What may be good for me, may not be the best or easiest way for you but here goes... Cut out all drinks but water. I lost 25lbs this way between November and February of that year without even trying.
Avatar m tn Based on your previous weight loss success, your current weight, diet, and exercise, I think you might have a metabolism problem. Get someone to check out your thyroid hormone levels and specifically your freeT3 which is the active thyroid hormone and is found to be lower in people who have been on extreme calorie restriction diets. Look up info on "Biggest Loser syndrome", see if you think you might fit that profile.
Avatar m tn Insulin resistance is another issue that can cause inability to lose weight. Also, have you had Vitamin D and B-12 tested? Vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause severe fatigue and I've read that vitamin D can aid in weight loss.
667913 tn?1242704088 What tips do you have for eating to lose weight? Not the exercise - the eating. HELP I'm stuck.
Avatar f tn Don't get discourage if you don't lose weight keep at it, if u can buy a video for arobic exercise that can help along with your machine, eat more fiber and lean white meat, the water is good, i purchased a distiller to do my own water, u said took you 3 years to gain 80 lbs. you can lose all that in 1/2 time or 18 months, just lose 2.
Avatar f tn I can't begin to talk about the benefits of regular exercise and weight lifting! Exercise also helps with constipation, a common complaint among MSers. I'm not going to blame MS for my weight problem. I blame my weight problem firmly and squarely where it belongs - on my intake. I eat too many calories for the amount of calories I burn. Any responsible person who really intends to lose weight needs to look at their intake and think about their activity level, and start there.
Avatar n tn I had plenty of energy to exercise which I did 5 - 6 aerobic work outs and 3 weight training work outs. I am a personal trainer and I was having an extremely frustrating time loosing weight after the birth of my 3rd child. Yes, I washed my hair and conditioned it. I don't wear alot of make-up anyway so the only thing I changed was that I used a powder sunscreen and Bare Minerals powder concealer. I did wear mascara and removed it with oil free make-up remover.
Dog Hi, I would look at diet to help lose weight and exercise to help tone your body. I recommend to others to get their weight under control before trying much more than walking so as to not stress your knees. Control your diet and as your weight drop slowly increase your physical activity. Remember to get a good overall work out as that will help overall toning and as your metabolic rate rises it will also help with losing weight. Good luck.
427265 tn?1444080036 Resistance weight training is possible while undergoing treatment. Indeed, it may be the easiest form of exercise since it doesn't fatigue you as much as cardiovascular exercise. Exercise is truly one of the few things that all patients on treatment can do to make themselves feel better. You obviously need to start out very gently and gradually. You can't have the same sort of goals that you would have if you weren't on treatment.
Avatar f tn when I am losing fat weight and am over 250 lbs, I will not gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. I will lose fat weight, muscle weight, scale weight. So if I try to lose weight quickly, I will be more predisposed to weight regain. When I work with patients and clients I normally see them after they have tried everything. There is a way to lose weight and not have to take supplements or remove yourself from your environment. The same goes for a low carbohydrate diet.
Avatar n tn its another 'trick' and quick fix like HCG..its a good 'jump' start...or eat breakfast...slim fast..lunch slim fast.. supper...you might say is that alot..which is my point you can not lose weight with out eating..so the trick is to 'eat' with out eating..mneaing put food in your body with out the 'calories' and heavy stuff..like protein shakes...its pre-digested..so less likely to gian weight..I knew a pro athlete took nothing but vitamins all day to lose weight instead of food..
Avatar f tn Your mantra of "eat less--move more" is incorrectly stated. It should be eat less or burn more (calories). Therein lies the problem. No doubt some people are their own worst enemies; however, there are a lot of people out there who are unable to lose weight by diet and exercise alone. Even when they "eat less" and "move more" it is not enough. They need to "burn more" calories but cannot because of very low metabolism, usually related to thyroid.
242532 tn?1269553979 If these two roommates don't talk to each other they will just alternate in control and you will be a yo-yo dieter. You will diet and lose weight and then your other self will take over and you will gain all the pounds back plus about 10%. You may do this for decades with only fat and frustration as your reward for the thousands of days of dieting deprivation. Wouldn't you be better off talking to your skull mate? Stop making you binge Of course you would...
Avatar m tn I have started a complete lifestyle changing initiative. I am currently 1 1/2 months into my new diet and exercise regiment. I weigh about 287lbs (my goal is approximately 215lbs mostly muscle) at the moment after losing about 25lbs last month. I do cardio 6 days a week for 45 mins each time. I alternate my cardio workouts between the elliptical, the treadmill, and I use the bike and stairmaster seldomly. I am noticing great weight loss with this routine.
98010 tn?1305903335 From my experience there are many factors that go into losing weight not just diet and exercise. I think one of the best way to lose weight is to eat a healthy breakfast. No one mentioned it. If you don't eat breakfast (eat something healthy by the hour you wake up) your body goes into fat storage mode. Many people skip breakfast and that will make it nearly impossible to lose the weight. Managing your metabolism is a big part of losing weight. What you eat is also important.

Avatar n tn I have concentrated on it every day through diet and exercise. My problem is my weight, 10 stone 6 (i'm 5' 7'' dress size 10) has not moved. I am a fitness instructor so understand what I am doing but am desperate as I have tried every option. I have been exercising 6 days a week, 2-4 hrs a day and training hard, cv and weights. I do the 5 meals a day approach and nutritionally am very strict, with only one treat binge a week working on a 90-10% wk, sometimes a 80-20%.
190885 tn?1333029491 I would think that since you were not heavy before, as you get back to whatever amount of normalcy that you can, you will automatically lose the weight. You are pretty fresh off of treatment. I gained a few pounds eating the fat with incivek but it came off right away. I lost some extra during the rest of my treatment and have lost some since finishing in spite of lingering side effects. SVR.SVR.SVR.
Avatar f tn therefore she goes on diet after diet and loses then gains it all back -- maybe what she really needs is to get her thyroid levels balanced, then with a good diet and exercise program, she might lose weight and keep it off. Just my opinion............ I will agree that sugar free (as in refined sugar) is good, because of the blood sugar issues - spikes and valleys. I see no reason for gluten free, dairy free, or fruit free unless one has an allergy to them.
Avatar n tn To lose fat--hence, tone up--you will likely need to focus on your diet. Aim for a high protein, high fiber, and low carb diet. Because you are already very fit, if you intend to cut calories, you have to be careful how much you cut. Do not go overboard here. You only need a slight calorie deficit to make a difference (250 a day at most). Also consider that sometimes the "fat" we think we have is actually just water.
256349 tn?1189759437 I don't really know what phase 2 and 3 are because I don't know much about the HCG diet. I am trying to get my body in shape to loose weight and I feel after years of constipation, this should be my first step. I have just gotten in the state of mind to really make a change. Thanks for your help.
251922 tn?1193786078 He recomends dilagence on the diet and I belive some good hard exercise would really help as well. Kt recomends The clensing in phase 1, Did you do that ?
