Avatar f tn I am a thicker young woman and have always struggled with weight or gaining by just looking at food. I have actually done pretty well with losing. I feel happier and like going to the gym more.
Avatar f tn She has a tingling in her extremities and sometimes in her torso. I would like to stop the Lexapro now but I am concerned with additional withdrawal symptoms. Question; 1) Do you advise stopping the medication abruptly now? 2) If not is there a medication to ease the tingling she presently has? 3) How should I continue the withdrawal regiment? The symptoms she experienced are, nightmares, seeing people in the morning, loss of balance, sleepy, moody, electric head shocks and tremors.
Avatar n tn I took Effexor XR for several months and packed on weight. I never lost it and tried losing it with the Lexapro and couldn't. Still haven't been able to and I have been off SSRI's for almost 5 months. Lexapro, along with a therapist, helped me a tremendous amount. Therapy alone may be all you need.
Avatar n tn It is good to hear somebody else has the same issues with lexapro. I have been on 10mg since february. It has done wonderful things for my anxiety however i have gained 20 pounds. I am active, eat well, maintained the same weight for years...coincidence? So i decided 8 days ago to stop. And now for 2 days i have been feeling "weird". Dizzy, nauseated, jittery...I do not have anymore of the pills and do not want to go back to them. I just don't think it is worth it.
Avatar n tn Started in January of 2009 - at the peak I was on 1.75 mg of klonopin and 20 mg. of lexapro. With great distress I first got off the klonopin - took 6 months and I have been off for 6 weeks. I have also reduced the lexapro from 20 mg. to 10 mg. in 6 weeks. The reduction in lexapro has made me sweat less, sleep better, be less foggy, improve my vision wihich was impacted and help my saliva problem which I still have.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for almost 2 moths now and I am having weird electrical shocks in my head that feel like the begging of an anxiety but last for a few seconds then go away. I also always feel weird tingling in my fingertips and some times in my forearms or legs that come and go. I was wondering at this point are the side effects from the lexapro and should they be gone by now or will they last forever...
Avatar n tn com/ It is tiny amount of natural lithium that is safe and may be my best friend as I work toward full lexapro withdrawal. I take one pill with the mealtonin at night to try to curb the crazy melatonin dreams, and one during the day if I feel too anxious. Great find.
196896 tn?1189759421 If you take it at night.....your sleeping thru the benefits of the drug.. .......oh... so......anybody thats taking lexapro.....it works better if you take in it a.m.
Avatar n tn Yes, that will help you with the weight gain and your feelings will not be as numb but you'll still have to deal with the tendency to use food as a way to make yourself feel better, which is the emotional eating issue.
Avatar m tn My dr recently prescribed me 10mg Lexapro, but I'm worried about taking them because of reading about the side effects. Mainly the weight gain and sexual related issues. Does anyone have any experience with this drug? How common are these side effects? Stories to share? I would like to feel better, not have more issues.
Avatar f tn Hi I've been on lexapro for three weeks I started with 2.5 mg for 3 days then 5 mg for 12 days then the remainder of the time I've been taking 10 mg. I have this weird heavy head tingly feeling and my anxiety seems to be worse . Should I stick it out has anyone felt this way and stuck it out and eventually felt better. Please help I'm new to this site and meds. I've been dealing with anxiety for 10 years and I finally felt I had to do something about it.
Avatar n tn I lost weight on both but wanted to know the weight issue with Lexapro since there seems to be one. Thanks for the help.
Avatar m tn Third, I'd like for you to know that I have been decreasing my dosages of LEXAPRO and never did start using PRISTIG. Shortly after my last visit with you, I started reducing my use of LEXAPRO, as you had suggested, to 10mg a day. (I was to do this for one week, I believe, and then to start PRISTIG). After several days of cutting my dose in half, I began noticing some astounding changes! They are as follows: 1. I no longer was fatigued.
Avatar n tn -Yogurt -Bananas -Vegatables -Wholegrain foods -Brown rice -Beans -Turkey -Chicken -Cottage Cheese -Skimmed milk or try replacing milk with soy milk -Fresh fish -Poached Egg -Tuna -Fruit -Porridge -Baked potato -Peanut butter -Garlic -Spinach If you are unable to manage your anxiety with all the above suggestion then i would suggest going back to Lexapro. Please note that I'm not a doctor and those are issues you may need to discuss with your doctor.
869879 tn?1239663909 I have also taken Abilify, but never with Lexapro. I took Abilify with Pristiq. I took the Abilify for about 4 months, but I never did notice it helping and it was expensive so I dropped it for a less expensive and more effective add on medication. I never got bad side effects from the Abilify, it just never worked even when my P-doc increased the dosage. I guess some people say it works pretty good for them, but in my case at least it failed to produce a positive response.
709686 tn?1277435759 As for increasing the dosage, you can go up by 5mg at a time, but if you do go to 20mg, buy the 20mg and take it once a day. Lexapro is expensive since it's still on patent, and that's cheaper than taking two 10mg tabs and does the same thing. I can tell you my psychiatrist raised me 5mg at a time.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for 3 months and while my depression is better I am gaining a massive amount of weight 20 pounds in 3 months. What can I do to stop this? Is there another medication that could help counteract this side effect? My current doctor is very over weight so he doesn't understand how badly this effects me, so much so I have considered stopping the meds but trust me I have 6 kids and I NEED TO BE ON THEM! Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Likes and Dislikes I also believe that you must be reasonably comfortable with your food choices to assimilate the food properly, i.e. foods you hate won't make a good diet for you. Beware of Liquids Containing Sugar Liquids containing sugar deliver sugar to the body too rapidly.

1934704 tn?1323452736 I started taking 5 mg of lexapro for my silent migraines with aura and my anxiety/ depression..

9648031 tn?1405042648 put me on 10 mg. Lexapro with .25mg Xanax to cope with anxiety. Take in morning and have tried to limit Xanax. Tried going to 20mg. with much anxiety and more Xanax. Well into 2nd month and feel "normal" for very short periods of time. Low energy and fear shocks prevalent all day. Sleeping Ok and in very good physical condition. Still functional and I volunteer. Please offer any helpful support.
Avatar f tn Strangely, the addition of Wellbutrin to Lexapro is said to reverse some of the latter's tendency to interfere with erection, libido, and orgasm in males (and Lexapro is BAD in this respect). The normal dose of Wellbutrin after titrating up from 150mg is 300mg, preferably in the XL (released gradually over time) form, and the Lexapro is normally one 10mg tab QD. I have seen these two meds prescribed together this way for others.
750172 tn?1256150676 I read one of the possible side-effects of Lexapro is insomnia, which I already have and now with my depression about a recent breakup, my mind can't seem to stop thinking. Thanks. Your profile picture by the way is fantastic!
Avatar f tn Brain zaps, crying spells, mood swings, insomnia (which, by the way, I experienced while taking Lexapro), stomach ailments, etc. I have an appointment with my doctor 3/12 to talk about coming off Lexapro without suffering the side effects. Does anyone know of natural supplements to help with withdrawal symptoms, or any experience in withdrawing succesfully without too many side effects?

Avatar n tn I take 10mg Lexapro daily for the last 2 years, with good results. Last week I started taking 2 "Think Clearly" by SuperNutrition tablets out of the recommended 3 per day. I have noticed an increased alertness but the last few nights I am wired and stay awake for a few hours before falling asleep. I am not (hypo)manic, do have a lessened affect and caffeine-like alertness due to this supplement. Is there info available on compatibility/contraindicaton issues between LXP and e.g.
