Lexapro jaw clenching

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro jaw clenching

lexapro

17020225 tn?1455753197 I started taking celexa about 2 weeks ago and have noticed that recently I have been clenching my jaw a lot without realizing it. At night and during the day. I don't even notice I have been doing it until my jaw gets sore and my teeth start to hurt. I didn't have this problem prior to taking celexa. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be caused by the medication?
Avatar f tn Does it go away after my body adjust to the medicne. I also get body twitches while i start to fall asleep from the lexapro. The lexapro seems to be helping but I can't stand biting my tongue and clenching my teeth every night. I have an over the counter mouth guard. It is uncomfortable to sleep with but it helps.
1302779 tn?1287408629 hey all just wanted to hear some experience about "jaw clenching" with taking lexapro. Been on it for a month at 15mg and the only real side affect im having is jaw clenching. was wondering if this will be less with time?
Avatar f tn One common side effect to watch out for because many don't attribute it to the drug is clenching in the jaw and the head and cramping. Magnesium supplements can often help with this. My only caution is that these drugs aren't approved for teens, although doctors can use them if they wish. Just be careful out there, and don't let the drug be a substitute for therapy, if your teen must take a drug try to make the stay on it as short as possible.
Avatar f tn Then I read on this site recently that Lexapro was causing jaw clenching. So there you have it. These are just weird stuff, these meds.
Avatar n tn My thyroid condition appears to be stable (no dose change since starting levoxyl 3 years ago). I loved Wellbutrin - took that for 5 years +, started to have serious jaw clenching and had to stop. Tried Prozac, had extreme nausea that did not let up and some jaw clenching right away also. Stopped that. I've been on lexapro for about 4 years now.
Avatar n tn Went off imipramine and doctor put me on lexapro - now have gained a little weight, am tired, clenching jaw at night, blood pressure back down, but pulse is constantly in the 50's which is freaking me out a little. Have been on lexapro for 6 months now - libido gone also....thinking about weaning off the lexapro and taking nothing or going back to the imipramine. Has anyone else experienced the low heart rate while on it?
Avatar n tn Tremors throughout the body (very noticeable in the hands), jaw pain (teeth clenching), constant LOUD ringing in ears are the major issues. I won't even begin to mention the many minor issues. PLEASE HELP!!! Raiders77 Male, 44 years old, with no phycological issues (UNTIL NOW!!!).
Avatar n tn nausea, bloating, dry mouth, jaw clenching. The worst was that I felt like a zombie - there was no way I could function at home, let alone at work. In fact, I can barely remember what I did in those six days on the drug. I know that side effects normally subside and I know I didn't give it enough time but I would rather be alert and panicky. I personally think my doctor was too quick to prescribe the medication - I was in and out of his office in 7 minutes.

535882 tn?1396580285 anyone get headaches and or pulsing feeling in head on lexapro. did this go away. ?
Avatar f tn I have been on 10mg of Lexapro since November. My doctor recenlty made a change and brought me down to 7.5mg due to fatigue and jaw clenching. He also added a small dose on kolonopin .25mg in the evening to assist with the jaw clenching. I was doing o.k until last week when I started to feel very blue and having some crying spells. On Sunday night I then started having a bit of increased anxiety and a couple of small panic attacks.
Avatar f tn He is introducing this slowly this week and we will eventually be fading out the Lexapro in time. While on the Lexapro I was also give Kolonopin .25mg to take at night for jaw clenching and excessive dreaming. My Dr. has given me the ok to start taking .25mg in the morning as well to help with the anxiety during the change from the Lexapro to Zoloft. I have read so many posts regarding Kolonopin and how helpful it has been to others and also how hard it has been to get off.
709686 tn?1277435759 One other side effect I got from Lexapro but didn't originally know it was the Lexapro until I read about it on the web is jaw clenching. I kept feeling like my ears were clogged and a pressure in the head. It got really bad when they upped me to 30mg because the Lexapro hasn't been working. I also don't think your doctor's paying attention to all the reported side effects, as muscle tightness is one of the more common ones. Not necessarily in the chest, but somewhere.
Avatar n tn I then began to experience slight jaw pain in the area below the ear. Hurts when I chew. Internist xrayed my jaw to rule out TMJ, and that came back negative. He has no other suggestions. I went for about 1 1/2 weeks until this past Monday, with no feeling of fullness or anything. The slight jaw pain was still present. On Monday, it begun to feel not normal again. I don't necessarily have ear fullness, but the area behind my ears near the jaw feels odd inside.

Avatar n tn Initially I felt a lot calmer and more easygoing, more positive and it was great! I did have the usual clenching jaw, trouble sleeping, tiredness but I was willing to accept these side effects due to my more positive outlook. Now though and probably going on for a week, I feel worse than before, more irritable, more negative than I was without lexapro. Had anyone else experienced this? What did you do to fix the problem? Do I up my dosage?

1539379 tn?1294335715 HEY i too am on 40 mg of celexa since oct and saw my specialist yesterday and we discussed my problem with the med is jaw clenching! I also suffer with migraines so jaw clenching and migraines not a good mix! I also take 05 mg klonopin with clexa in the morning and I feel the klonopin helps more than the celexa with anxiety. that being said I am slowly weaning off the celexa very slowly and see if the klonopin will be enough. the jaw clenching especially at night is not fun.
Avatar f tn Interesting jaw clenching from Lexapro, I am also on Lexapro. I thought I clenched my jaw because I was stressed and anxious. Perhaps I am dealing with a little of both, the ENT Dr. told me I has tinnitus, but that there is nothing I can do about it, there are some herbal supplements that I can take I guess. Thank You for your reply!
Avatar m tn I did get pressure in my ears from Lexapro, though -- seemed to be from jaw clenching, one of its listed side effects.
Avatar f tn Who knows? Lexapro is known to cause jaw clenching; I found out when my ears kept feeling stuffed and I finally saw an ENT who told me it was from jaw clenching. So who knows what Zoloft can do to any particular person? On the other hand, after just three days, it isn't causing it anymore, and if you still have it, it's more likely your anxiety is holding on to it -- conditioned thinking is what plagues us anxiety sufferers. Work on this with your CBT person and see if it helps.
358304 tn?1409713092 I will tell you, I clench my jaw constantly, and don't even realize I am doing it. I have the same issues, my jaw is always sore. I try to catch myself clenching, and stop, but like I said, most of the time, I don't even realize I am doing it. This can cause ear aches, headaches, pain when chewing, it can wreak havoc on your teeth! My jaw gets extremely tired when I chew things like steak or gum. Try to be aware of it, and see if you can notice when you are doing it. Good Luck to you!
Avatar f tn I am wondering if this is all due to clenching my teeth. So I wanted to ask if anyone with teeth clenching is having weird constant head sensations or like pressure ? I just don't know why this won't go away.
1144369 tn?1261556957 We're all different, so my experience won't be yours, but the night sweats for me were just once in awhile, the jaw clenching stayed around and caused my ears to feel full all the time, and I had a feeling of pressure in the head. But it didn't work for me. The real question is, if over time it works for you, is the cost less than the benefit.
358304 tn?1409713092 If you're not experiencing that, then you are probably just tense and clenching. Try to be conscious of your jaw and keep it relaxed. This is what I've had to do and it's really helped. I tend to clench at the computer because I'm concentrating and have to make an effort to relax my jaw. Either way, you should see your dentist to get properly fitted for a night guard. I'm not too sure about these OCT guards.
1166402 tn?1303850656 I found out about the Lexapro and Celexa when I kept feeling like my ears were full. Went to the ENT, and he said it was most likely jaw clenching, looked up the meds on some sites and there it was, a common side effect. With imipramine and Paxil, the magnesium worked, but it hasn't with Lexapro and Celexa, assuming they're the cause.
Avatar n tn I have nose problems already, have actually had surgery to correct it, and just made it worse. My nose gets really dry inside, and sometimes bleeds. I use Ayr gel, it is an over the counter saline gel, and works great. Also, I have Ocean Spray, which is also over the counter Saline nose spray. They both work, very well. Dr had me using them after surgery to keep moist and clean. I have continued using them whenever my nose gets real dry. Hope it helps.
