Lexapro dosage levels

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro dosage levels

1021784 tn?1306366611 Lexapro I was reading my experiences that I posted on the other board in regards to Lexapro, explaining that when I was on the 20mg dose, I became manic from. Also on one of my posts (on the other forum) I had my med list and both Lexapro and Ativan were on there explaining how they worked for me. The Ativan dosage was 0.5mg three times daily. While of course a doctor is needed in relation to these questions I have a couple of questions: 1.
Avatar n tn For the last two weeks I have been taking Lexapro because of the sexual side effects of Prozac and I
Avatar f tn What dosage are you on? Are you tapering slowly up, or did you start at your current dosage?
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for a month, and i am seeing some help with depression and anxiety, but the problem is that I take it (10mg) in the morning around 8am and dont feel the effects until at least 3 hrs later. Should i be taking it at night so that i can get up happier in the morning? I have been missing work and school just because i dont want to get up in the morning. But i dont want to start taking it at night if it makes it wear off by the next day.
Avatar n tn I have been off of lexapro for about 8 days and would like to know if anyone can tell me the true withdrawl symptoms>
Avatar m tn I was on Zoloft for a few years and 4 years ago I switched to lexapro 10 mg. I want to get off it because of insomnia, weight, and sexual side effects. I was originally prescribed this by a shrink for impulse control and depression and low seretonin levels due to addiction. I am 7 months clean and sober now and I want to stop it for good. Could you recommend a reduced dosage strategy so I don't feel the dissy vertigo spells that go along with trying to stop?
Avatar n tn My PCP checked by thyroid levels and said my TSH was a little high and suggested the does be lowered. I said I would speak to my endocrinologist and let him decide. He said that the TSH would not cause the anxiety I was experiencing but he did lower the dosage to 112mg. The anxiety and depression continue and worsened, Wellbutrin, Zoloft and Xanax only worked for short periods of time. I recently saw a psychiatrist who has put me on Lexapro and Xanax ER.
Avatar n tn all the tests came back fine and the doc thinks it was caused by stress/anxiety or something i ate. i am on a low dosage of toprol xl 50 mg 1 a day.. my question is this. since it happend only once am i better off staying on toprol or taking a anxiety medicine like lexapro daily or taking xanax just when i need it. it seems kind of weird to me taking toprol when nothing is wrong with my heart. any help???
Avatar n tn I talked to my doctor and she said it is because Lexapro affects your seratonin levels (the stuff that you need to feel happy) and when I didn't take my meds my seratonin levels dropped and I really felt like I would never feel happy again. Once my meds got back in my system and I got evened out I was fine again. If you want to go off Lexapro you have to do it a little bit at a time.
Avatar n tn If there is not a significant reason (financial issues, medical problems where the Lexapro is contraindicated) to go off the Lexapro, then simply don't. If it has helped you, then there is no reason you can not continue to take it, even long term. Especially because you are on a fairly low dose, you have lots of wiggle room should the dose ever need to be increased. MANY MANY of us have found ourselves caught in the trap of wanting to stop taking meds, for a host of reasons.
Avatar n tn I have recently found a doctor who does bio-identical hormone inserts, I told him that I really want to get off the Lexapro, but he told me to wait until he gets my hormones balanced, so that I don't crash and burn. I'm afraid the Lexapro is screwing up my hormone levels, any thoughts on that? I can't afford a new wardrobe. The only other Lexapro side effect I have are bad vivid dreams, very exhausting. Thanks for your feedback.
Avatar n tn Hi, i just started lexapro 5mg 6 days ago, the last two days i started to feel dizzy, but no relief to my anxiety or my irratibility. i never realy had any major side effects other than a headache the first day, now i seem to have develpoed a cold about 3 days into treatment, i'm not sure if the meds caused it but my nose is blocked up. i was wondering if upping the dose to 10mg would help.
Avatar n tn I am having problems with lexapro. When I take it I feel like I drank 20 cups of coffee and I get really shaky. I am now on a low dose, but I am miserable. Is there anything that can take away these side effects?
Avatar n tn Well i'm on day 3 of a 2nd try at taking Lexapro on the advice of my physician. Last time the increase from 5 mg to 10mg after two days caused intense side effects that made me stop taking it. This time I am taking a much slower increase 5 mg for first week, then to 10mg to try and reduce the impact of the symptoms but I can tell after 3 days I am a bit more aggitated, nervous, anxious but nothing like last time. Also last time I was really against taking medication.. now... i'm ok with it....
Avatar n tn ) I've read that you cannot cut your lexapro levels by 5mg increments. That you should shave some off, go 7 days, and then shave off a little more, etc. The question is; I have all the symptoms of seratonin syndrome - now what? I shaved my 15mgs of lexapro starting yesterday. Cut the xanax to 1/4 tab last night - (probably should have waited on that...)Have apt to see therapist on Mon and GP on Thurs. Give me ammo to go with please!
Avatar n tn I was taking low dosages (10mg daily) of Celexa and I was doing fine. A few months back my doctor suggested I try Lexapro. I have found that most of the bad side effects of Celexa have been eliminated with this new and so far wonderful medication, I am currently taking 10mg Lexapro daily. My question is: What can I expect to feel when leaving the medication (long term use). Also, is there any danger to this medication that we know of, how does it differentiate from Celexa.
Avatar n tn Help! My close friend has been taking Lexapro for depression for quite some time. A few month ago, she started relating stories about her work environment that were at first funny and then disturbing. She claimed that her emails and phone calls were being "tapped" and that her computer would mysteriously go down. When we questioned her about who would be doing this, she explained that the management of the company didn't like her.
Avatar n tn Is it feasible that my brain-dead feelings are attributed to Lexapro? I'm afraid to go off of it because of my previous moods before Lexapro (suicidal ideation, etc). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn TSH is a pituitary hormone that moves in opposite direction from thyroid hormone levels. Although TSH is usually inadequate as a diagnostic, when it is as high as yours, it is a pretty good indication that you are hypothyroid. Since Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is the most common cause for diagnosed hypothyroidism, you should ask to confirm that by testing for for both Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies and Thyroglobulin antibodies. Those tests are listed as TPO ab and TG ab.
114809 tn?1449688596 most recent tsh is close to a 4 I am currently on levothyroxine 25mcg, which is a baby dose. my hypo symptoms made a comeback, symptoms come & go, but not at the level they were before treatment when I was over 11 several months ago, at that number I actually thought i was dying! So someone hellp me out here.
Avatar n tn i checked side effects of lexapro and decided that must be it, even though i hadn't changed the dosage anywhere near the time of the vertigo. well i've been down to 15mgs, with ony a headache for a week and a half. then, 3 nights ago i started feeling the vertigo again. i spent yesterday in bed all day because every time i moved i either fell down or threw up.
Avatar m tn Hello doctor, I am a 24 year old male who takes Losartan 100, Toprol xl25 and Hydrochlorothiazide 25. Recently a psychiatrist prescribed me Lexapro 10mg and Xanax 0.5 twice daily to hopefully treat the anxiety/panic disorder that has made my life very difficult the last few years. However I am concerned as I suffer from high blood pressure and racing heartbeat and now I am afraid to take the Lexapro as I fear its going to worsen my not so good blood pressure and heart rate.
494087 tn?1257796807 Remember, it will take time for the dosage to reach its peak serum levels for you to know its full effects. Good luck to you, and be proud of yourself - you've come far!!!!!!
Avatar f tn the dopiness mentioned was more of a drugged out stupor for me and only occurred at dosage changes. Tingling in the fingers or toes lessens over time; occasionally have bad days. I do tend to have numbness in the tips of my fingers most of the time. These things I've gotten use to. What I've finally discovered from reading here, is the cause of the hair loss which was extreme over the last six months.
Avatar f tn Personally, I'd stay away from Paxil and Effexor just as Nursegirl said unless they were the last thing left to try. And I also agree, how long were you on the Lexapro? I've been on Paxil and Lexapro, and Paxil was much more sedating and made me gain a lot of weight, and I'm very active. Or was. Prozac can be stimulating, and its effectiveness with anxiety by reputation isn't as good as other ssris, but it is the most benign to stop taking.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response, for some reason my Dr. told me because my dosage was a very low dose I could just stop, obviously this is not the case at all. Apparently, the Cipralex guide at the Dr.'s office claimed to have minimal withdrawal effects. After doing some research this is clearly not the case and maybe some form of incorrect marketing.
Avatar n tn So, for those who asked how long it takes for your metabolism to return to pre-Lexapro levels, I can only say, sadly, that I'm looking at 15-18 months off the stuff and still haven't returned to normal. Sorry.
Avatar n tn I have always felt my anxiety has been laying there, dormant, but this has set it off. My doctor has prescribed me 10mg Escitalopram (Lexapro) as he feels this will help with dealing with this issue. My partner is doing everything she can to reassure me, but I am so sceptical on everything from my anxiety, it is so hard to take everything as gospel!
Avatar n tn Also have you considered taking a kind of benzodiazepine like Xanax, Brozamepam or Ativan just to calm down a bit the anxiety untill the Lexapro kicks in? I would suggest you talk to your doctor about that. Also if Lexapro doesn't work after 1 month i would suggest you try another kind of anti-depressant it's Duloxetine (Cymbalta, Yentreve). It's a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor so it acts a bit differently and you might just find it right for you.
Avatar f tn Hey y'all I am a 21 year old female that is not very active anymore and is 4 days into taking 10mg of lexapro for Panic attacks. I take it at 6pm so I can consistently take it around the same time. I have been have weird side effects to this medicine and want to see if anyone else has experienced them to..
