Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro drinking

lexapro

Avatar f tn Lexapro and Zoloft are in the same class of medications known as SSRIs, which are usually prescribed long term to help treat depression and/or anxiety. Xananx is a benzo which is prescribed as needed usually on a short term basis because it can become extremely addictive in my opinion. In my experience both classes of medication are good at what they are designed for. As to what medication is best for you, we all react and prefer different types of medication in my opinion...
Avatar f tn m from a country where the drinking age is 18 and I have been drinking for a lot of my life, with anxiety I guess. Those are not the side effects I am worried about, I am more worried about any effect alcohol may have like if I will get drunker quicker, or if i will have worse hangovers ect...
Avatar f tn If you are feeling down you should lay off the booze or limit it to just dinner, it may feel okay at the time but it is a depressant. Are you going on Lexapro to just stop drinking during the day???
Avatar f tn Can you drink on Lexapro? I do mean DRINKING!! Just being honest. When you go out with your friends and you dont come until 4 am kind or drinking.I've done it and have not noticed anything weird. I understand that does not mean its ok.
Avatar m tn Anyone use lexapro? just want to know if anyone has any input on it, if used ofcourse...i suffer from uncontrolled blushing and sweating...my social phobia is horrible, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn Our PCP is stumped and our psychiatric nurse is doubtful that this is a medication issue. We don't know where else to turn. My husband takes a small dose of lexapro and has been doing so for 3 years. He takes lorezepam occasionally when he has trouble sleeping. He went through a period of early waking a year ago spring and that occasionally comes back. Out of nowhere, a year ago, he started getting lightheadedness at different times of day, once falling after he completely blacked out.
Avatar f tn Hey, my story sounds remarkably like yours. I am also 19, a college sophomore, who constantly obsesses about their health, which turns often into more profound fear about the universe, my "realness", and the reality of the world around me, and then eventual depression. I also went on Lexapro, and found it really helpful for the first 6 months about, but find my health anxieties returning.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I am on 11 days of no loperamide. I was told by then doc,yo,go,up,to 20mg of lexapro and all it did was make my head hurt more. I dropped back, down to 10 after 9 days. My anxiety was bad then and worse now. I don't know if it is because of going up,then down, or is it still withdrawal? I abused for a while, then went to loperamide for about a year going as high as 50 day, but went to 20 a day. Weird thing is I drank a bunch of energy drinks and quit that is when i started to feel bad.
Avatar m tn I do drink alcohol, smoke marijuana (which can help the nausea imensely), take 10mg of lexapro a few times a week, and .5mg xanax as needed (i have anxiety problems) and prilosec (40 mg in morn. 40mg at dinner). I have gone to a Gastro doctor and he had me get a scope. Everything came back ok, but i still suffer from the morning vomiting. He says its just acid reflux, but why wont the prilosec work?
771466 tn?1235156638 I recently just realized the reason for my 40 lb weight gain in only a year. LEXAPRO!! That evil evil drug. But the thing is, I have been so happy while taking it. I went to the doc this week and when I stepped on the scale I almost had an anxiety attack right then and there. I dont weight myself regularly but I knew I had gained ALOT of weight but geeze I weight 182.2. WTF????
Avatar f tn I eventually got off but I am now again experiencing extreme anxiety and panic attacks. My doctor has now prescribed me Lexapro but I am nervous to take it as Zoloft had a terrible effect on me. He also has me on a low dose of Xanax which I'm fine taking. Any suggestions or experiences from taking Lexapro have you liked it? Did it help?
Avatar m tn Lexapro is a permanent life long cure for any depression if you can survive the treatment. I was prompted by a marriage counselor to go to my doctor and request drugs for my OCD symptoms (checking, intrusive sad thoughts, previous eating disorders as a teen and heavy drinking-probably perpetuated by my father’s suicide in 1981 while he was on imipramine and numerous other psych med’s) I went to my husband’s pcp who never met me before.
Avatar n tn I was weaned off Lexapro and switched to Zoloft about 7 weeks ago. My Zoloft intake was gradually increased to where I am now taking 200 mg for about 3 1/2 weeks now. However, I am feeling the need to drink almost everyday to give me relief from anxiety and still depressive episodes such as crying spells. My first question is- is the alcohol inhibiting the Zoloft from working to its ultimate capabilities?
Avatar f tn Taking 5 mg of lexapro. Drank quite a bit of beer last 2 days and very anxious that something bad will happen from lexapro and alcohol interaction. Should I go to hospital?
Avatar f tn I have been trying to wean my wife off Lexapro. Presently she is on 5mg daily. Originally she was on 20mg daily. As I understand the withdrawal regiment as one should not reduce the dosage until the patient is stabilized on that particular dosage. Since she has been on 5mg (2 months) we have experienced several symptoms and they have dissipated, however one symptom has lingered for three weeks. This one is absolutely driving her nuts.
Avatar m tn I have had a lot of experience living with this as does most of the rest of my family. I have tried other medications and I have found that Lexapro is a very good drug to help you get control of it. So use extreme discretion if you choose to keep increasing your dosage of Celexa but personally I recommend you talk to your doctor about discontinuing the drug completely and asking about Lexapro. Once the correct dosage has been prescribed this may work very well for you.
Avatar f tn So I went to my psyc. doctor last month and he doesn't think that the Lexapro is causing me to urinate all the time...like 20 plus times a day. He acted like he didn't know and that I need to take to my family doctor. I haven't seen my family doctor yet about it. Do you think my pscy. doctor doesn't know what he's talking about? Shouldn't he have been able to recommend something for my frequent trips to the bathroom? Doctor, what do you think?

Avatar m tn Helllo, I was on the generic form of Yasmine birth control, lexapro, wellbutrin and clonazepem for eight years. My husband and I have decided after one year of being married that we would like to start a family of our own. I went off my birth control on the 1rst of October 2012. Since then I have gotten off the lexapro completely. As of right now I am only taking half a dose of the wellbutrin (150mg) and 2mg of clonazepam daily.
Avatar m tn Is Lexapro also called Celexa? If so, a doc wrote that you can get seizures from drinking with Celexa.

Avatar m tn i just started taking depacote, lexapro ,klonopin and i take ambien for sleep...is beer occasionly going to be harmful?
Avatar f tn my AST was 47, ALT was 74, and GGT was 89. I read that drinking even 24 hrs before a test can cause some of this and I certainly did drink 24 hours before. It said to fast for 10-12 hrs and I had a drink about 10 hrs before my test. I am also on Lexapro which I think can cause elevated GGT. What are you thoughts about this? I have read that a ratio of AST/ALT over 2/1 is liver disease and mine is less than 1... Thank you..
Avatar m tn I just wanna get drunk on a one time bases.. I know drinking and taking meds is very dangerous... Or how long should i wait to drink if i stop taking zoloft? I been on it for 2 months, 100mgs.. your thoughts?
