Avatar f tn I only lose my appetite if I am upset (which has always been my habit) but with these pills I have increased appetite. Risperdal was the worse for me....and now my son is on it for bipolar (so they think now) and he only took it twice but usually on football nights I make him two suppers almost and last night he wasn't even hungry.
1460652 tn?1340252330 I thought I remembered that being one of your symptoms, along with increased anxiety? What has your therapist been saying, and what have you discussed with your doc as a new plan to try? I know you're in a hellish spot right now....but you REALLY need to amp up the anxiety treatment bigtime, even if it is just the therapy...otherwise your anxiety and thinking is going to try to convince yourself that the 3 Zoloft pills caused ALL of this and will never go away.
Avatar n tn Side effects of the remeron I experienced made me very drowsy as well as an increased appetite at night. I excerices 5 days a week so the increased appetite I could handle. The drowsiness took its toll on me. I decided to go back to Lex w the help of Cialis to combat my ED issues. This is going to get too expensive. I dont think this is the solution and I;m not looking to increase pills either. Would adjusting the dosage on Remeron have an effect on those side effects.
Avatar n tn The Lexapro and xanax would NOT make you lose the weight....most probably the TSH being low would do that and being HYPER. The anxiety comes from HYPER or HYPO in most cases. Anxiety is part of the package when levels are 'out of whack' so to speak. It should start to ease with the decrease of meds. Anytime you feel anxiety bad....you will now know yr levels are 'out'.
Avatar m tn Hello, So i've been on Lexapro 10mg for about 4 weeks now and since a couple of days ago i've been feeling very tired and sleepy to the point that all i want to do is sleep. Will this effect go away or am i experiencing the true effects of Lexapro? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Weight gain is not inevitable, and probably occurs in less than 30% of cases. Its mostly from increased appetite, so if you exercise and use portion control, you should not have a problem.
Avatar n tn After a length of time and MANY doctors visits, I started taking Lexapro and I've been on it ever since. Over the past few months I've been experiencing mood swings, anxiety, etc. so I decided to try something new. My doctor suggested Wellbutrin so for the past few weeks, I've been in the transition. I have felt ABSOLUTELY horrible-like I did back when all this first started. I have had 2 major panic attacks-I haven't had those in years!!
Avatar n tn I was in excruciating pain so I called the dr and he told me to stop Lexapro and start effexor. I took the effexor and immediately had the same effects initially as the celexa (trust me I know why some people go wacko on these kinds of drugs)Well I had had it I didn't want to feel like that anymore so I stopped. I knew better to just stop but I figured with all the side effects I was having I didn't want to try another one out.
Avatar n tn Lexapro generally doesn't cause "brain damage", and while going cold turkey isn't generally the best idea (weaning off of it tends to minimize side-effects), it generally doesn't cause very adverse symptoms. Xanax is a cousin of the benzodiazepine family, which is what kind of concerns me when you say began drinking heavily concurrently with your meds. However, you were probably taking a small-enough dose to minimize any potential long term damage.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER and they said it was a panic attack and gave me xanax to take .5 3x daily. I continued the lexapro and my anxiety increased as my appetite decreased..i had another panic attack and went to the ER. They tested me for liver, kidney probs, did an EKG and tested for hyperthyroidism. Everything came back normal, although I blacked out for the very first time in my life when they drew the blood. (scariest experience of my life!!
Avatar f tn The most common side effects associated with escitalopram are agitation or restlessness, blurred vision, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, drowsiness, dry mouth, fever, frequent urination, headache, indigestion, nausea, increased or decreased appetite, increased sweating, sexual difficulties (decreased sexual ability or desire, ejaculatory delay), taste alterations, tremor (shaking), weight changes.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been taking 10mg of Lexapro for a year and a half and recently decided to taper off due to fatigue and weight gain. I have mentioned cutting back to my doctor, but she seems adamant that I stay on the meds indefinitely. I do not agree with this because I am concerned about the long term effects, which are largely unknown. I am going to discontinue treatment with her due to changes in my insurance policy, so I decided to try to cut back on my own.
Avatar f tn I'm afraid to take antidepressives. My biggest fear is increase in anxiety and dizzyness. Do most people experience this when they first taking these drugs?

Avatar n tn Insomnia, Somnolence (sleepiness or drowsiness), Dizziness, Increased Sweating, Fatigue, Appetite Decreased, Impairment of Judgment, Confusion, Inability to keep Attention Focused. These side effects were "constant" - not just here and there. I also became more irritable and angry for no reason. As soon as I got off Lexapro - I returned to normal. This is just a warning to anyone considering allowing their endo to prescribe Lexapro to combat Diabetes Depression/Burn out.
Avatar m tn i took it for about a year and then got off it because one side effect was increased appetite and I gained like 20+ pounds. So I then went to Effexor, Lexapro, Remron, and I am now on Pristiq. SO far the prestiq has helped my depression. I got severely depressed a few months back because I was not doing anything. I would just lay in my room all day because of the fear of my panic attacks. Anyway lets just say that I am getting back to my old and happy self.
12927270 tn?1427819539 That head pressure is the most common irritating side effect of Lexapro. I had it, and I felt it increased my anxiety. With any drug for the brain the side effects start before the effects do -- it takes 4-6 weeks for many people to notice the beneficial effects. While the head pressure never completely went away, I got used to it where it stopped adding to my anxiety.
Avatar n tn I have GAD as well. I have been on PAXIL in the past and am currently on LEXAPRO. Paxil helped but always made me feel "numb" inside and when I stopped taking it I felt TERRIBLE. Lexapro increased my anxiety for about the first week then helped me tremendously. I also don't have any of the "numbness" or "dead-headedness" like what I felt when I was on the Paxil. Hope you get to feeling better. My heart goes out to anyone experiencing Anxiety Disorders.
Avatar n tn I have tried Zoloft, Effexor (severe reaction - blacked out my blood pressure dropped and I felt incredibly unwell), Lexapro, and Citalopram. The SSRI's caused severe bruising all down my legs, I was made to discontinue use. My heart rate was also increased to higher than usual and I felt like I was high. I also tried Moclobemide but noticed no difference. I have tried diazepam, xanax, valium and clonazepam.
Avatar f tn Hi, I also was searching weight gain and lexapro and stumbled onto this sight. I thought I was nuts because my doctor said it would ABSOLUTELY not cause weight gain. I went on it (started at 10 and then went to 20 mg) because I am a constant worrier and I show signs of anxiety like restless etc, and I also have IBS and my dr informed me that that could ease my stomach some. It did seem to help my stomach but I was often sooo tired and lethargic-and my brain felt foggy.
Avatar n tn I keep feeling like I'm still gona throw up the entire time, didnt feel good at all. So I of course did not take any more of the Lexapro. But the nausea and lack of appetite didn't go away just yet. I actually don't remember how long it took for them to go away. It was either 2 weeks, or 2 months. The reason I'm not sure is because it could have just been me being so anxiously thinking about it that could have caused the nausea, and not the Lexapro itself for the entire time.
Avatar n tn levels, I've been experiencing unusual symptoms similar to those of hyperthyroidism--anxiety, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, diarrhea, suppressed appetite/weight loss, nausea, and so on. My doctor put me on 10mg Lexapro, saying these symptoms were not thyroid-related. My question is: is it possible these lab results indicate that I am being over- or under-medicated? If not, what could possibly be causing these terrible anxiety symptoms? Thank you!
1756969 tn?1332440763 with just wellbutrin. my dr told me if that doesnt work than he suggested lexapro (mood stabilizer) and i know mood stabilizers cause intense weight gain.
389797 tn?1200693362 I force myself to eat as I have NO appetite. I feel only weak, faint, pain (and anxiety), not hunger if I don't eat something every 2-3 hours. An I feel full right away when I do eat. Daytime seems to be worse, Evenings are better (or I'm just starving), I can usually eat a small meal. I have avoided most dairy (have eaten yogurt and cheese), alcohol (I was a heavy drinker), all caffeine.
Avatar n tn I tryed paxil and lexapro started getting withdrawl like symptoms {chills ,irritable ,cold feet}.So the Dr. said lets try zoloft same thing im sticking with it cause i need some relief from the panic/anxiety. started 25mg for one week now im three days into 50mg still feel withdrawl like symptoms.I was on paxil 3yrs ago don't remember getting these symptoms ,but i was on methadone at that time maybe thats why i did't get the symptoms the Dr. can't tell me yes or no to that.
