Lexapro and increased anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and increased anxiety

lexapro

Avatar f tn If your symptoms are hormonal in nature, they don't have to actually BE PMDD, it was just one example. It sounds very much like your cycles exacerbate your anxiety.
Avatar f tn I started at 25mg and I am currently at 100 mg. I have been on the 100mg a day dose for 5 days and my anxiety has increased significantly and I am having trouble sleeping. The Zoloft has always made me feel wired, but this dosage has really increased my anxiety levels. Will this anxiety increase go away after a few weeks? I also take 300mg of Wellbutrin each day and have for 2 years. Do you think I should lower my Wellbutrin dose or my Zoloft dose or both?
Avatar m tn Some antidepressants are better than others at helping with anxiety, and each person is different. I know Zoloft can help with anxiety, but when I took it several years ago, it did nothing for that for me. I currently take Prozac, which isn't typically one of the chosen options for people with anxiety, but it has been working well in this regard.
Avatar n tn Anyways when I started taking the 10 mg I have been experiencing increased anxiety in these past few days .. is that normal ? and if so when do I expect for this increased anxiety to go away ? And did anyone else in here take cipralex for GAD, SAD and PD ? and if so would you be kind enough to tell me if it has helped with these disorders or not ? And when do you start feeling better in general ?
620048 tn?1358018235 I have been on lexapro for almost 3 weeks for my anxiety and it has been working great until a few days ago, and I started feeling the anxiety again including shortness of breath. I have been taking 10 mg of lexapro, can that dosage be increased? I have emailed my Dr also.
Avatar f tn I have sleep apnea and depression and anxiety. I was put on Seroquel and Lexapro. These last two helped lessen the depression and anxiety but made my sleepiness and fatigue much worse. Also, I was putting on a lot of weight due to a strong craving for sweets every afternoon. My psychiatrist had told me if the fatigue got really bad I could cut the Lexapro in half, from 10mg to 5. I just started doing this 2 days ago.
Avatar n tn t know if this will help anyone but maybe it will. I was put on lexapro after surgery when I developed panic anxiety attacks and depression from the anesthesia. I was on 1 mg Xanax a day and 19 mgs lex a day for about 9 years. Everything seemed to be going okay. Did gain weight and had to be out on blood pressure med at about 8 years in. Then had a major emotional crisis at 9 yrs which resulted in depression worsening. My doc upped the dose to 1-1.5 mgs Xanax and 20 mgs of lex.
Avatar f tn People taking SSRIs like Lexapro can complain about weight gain; and there are many that complain about weight loss. Remember, that anxiety can often lead to depression which in itself can cause weight gain for a viarity of reasons. I actually lost weight while taking an SSRI, but I think it had to do a lot more with a normal exercise routine and watching what I ate.
Avatar m tn HI, just was wondering about an increase dosage of Lexapro. I started at 10 mg and my doctor increased it to 20 mg. I've been taking it for 2 1/2 weeks and have noticed an improvement over the 10 mg. I've been having more good days then bad which is great. Will it take 4 to 6 weeks to receive the full benefit from the Lexapro from the increased dosage? Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn I really dont wanna take something that causes more anxiety even if it passes after so long,,I was started on buspar a while back and that also increased the anxiety it was horrible. How are u feeling on the zoloft so far.
Avatar f tn I had the same symptoms on Lexapro. Like a constant nervousness and restlessness that wouldn't go away, even at night with no stress and trying to just relax and watch tv. It was nonstop and the feeling I had was almost hard to articulate into words (how uneasy, restless, nervous and almost like a roar inside me).
Avatar f tn Hey guys so I’m 19 years old in college I currently take lexapro anxiety and depression meds daily but I constantly have this weird, indescribable feeling I my head. I just feel so weird al the time and I’m constantly panicky. I always think people are gonna think I’m crazy when I say this but the past week I will just randomly smell gasoline? I’ve been to the hosptital twice they have ran all the tests and they say I’m fine nothings wrong.
Avatar m tn I do believe the increased tiredness and anxiety will eventually go away in a matter of one week or two. Otherwise it would suggest that the lower dose was more adequate for you or that you need to try a new drug.
Avatar f tn I was put on Lexapro 6 days ago and i have felt sick since about the 2nd day,im feeling nausated, week, ill in general i had burning facial cheeks before going on the lexapro but now i have burning arms and legs like coming from the inside out im so tired all the time i read in teh phamplet that came with lexapro u could get serotonin syndrome though rare and it increased if you are on other meds Im on klonopin and ativan as needed,Im so scared but i love in rural town and the drs here refuse to
Avatar m tn With regards to Lexapro,as I understand it, stopping an SSRI you've taken for so long coldturkey can bring about some nasty changes in brain chemistry.Your brain has gotten accustomed to the 10mg and all of a sudden it doesn't have it, hence increased anxiety and sadness.Slappy i know you know that lexapro has a shorter half-life then most ssris, maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to Prozac which has the longest half-life, then you can wean off easier.
869879 tn?1239660309 Has anyone ever taken Lexapro and Abilify together? I've been on 10mg Lexapro (for chronic dysthymia) for about 2 years now. I've always had positive reactions to Lexapro: great sex drive, great mood, slept okay (I do take Lunesta for sleep). However, lately (for the past 4 months I'd say), my depression has worsened for no real reason. I've found myself a lot more tired when I wake up (I sleep 9-10 hours a night), don't want to be with anyone, no energy, no sex drive.
12714324 tn?1426848387 First of all, and know it's easier said than done, but you're not a burden. As I'm sure you know, with meds like Lexapro, we often have to feel a little worse before we start feeling better. For most, the initial side effects are short lived (thank goodness). I know it's tough waiting to feel better, but it's something that just takes time. It could take 4-6 weeks, or it may take even longer (especially if you end up needing to try higher dosages).
Avatar m tn I started lexapro about a week ago for depression and 3 days ago i started having intense stomach problems and a huge anxiety attack that took me to the ER. They said i should stop taking lexapro because of my stomach (they said i might have gastritis, has this caused it to worsen perhaps?) but the thing is after 3 days of quitting lexapro my anxiety is still here. Not as bad, but my heart is still racing 24/7 and i feel like i cant concentrate on anything other then just being calm.
563594 tn?1309583132 been needing the xanax too much and I was to slowly cut it out. Just got off norcos, and I know this has extremely increased my pre-existing anxiety disorder. thanks to anyone with any help.
Avatar m tn Hello All, I've been having major anxiety for sometime which has turned out into depression. Due to my sensitivity to meds, my doc has prescribed for me to take Lexapro the following way. Week 1: 1/4 of a pill (2.5mg) Week 2: 1/2 of a pill (5mg) Week 3: 3/4 of a pill (7.5mg) Week 4: 1 pill (10mg) I'm currently on day 4 of taking 5mg and still don't feel a difference. Seems like my anxiety is higher and I've been having more depressive moments.
Avatar f tn ve had mixed side effects since starting including increased anxiety, stomach upset (both before eating and after eating), general feeling of not being myself, increased insomnia on top of the insomnia I already suffer and lower libido. I took Effexor for several years (has been about 5 years since taking it) and also Zoloft. I do not recall any of these start up effects from either of those medications.
Avatar f tn Lexapro increased my hubby's PVCs *however* it wasn't much and he didn't care (anxiety reduction effect). It helped with his low energy a bit, but it basically only took the edge off the anxiety overall. He is on Buspar now, which (after several SSRI medications) is the one that actually has done the trick. Good luck to you! Big step, and I think it will give you some peace of mind. Ativan (same as Xanax) didn't help me either.
Avatar f tn I have taken Lexapro, Paxil, and Pristiq for anxiety. I never experienced burning down my arms and in my chest and stomach until I tried these different meds. My doctor told me that the medications could have raised my serotonin level to high, and that could have contibuted to the burning. I have had many panic attack attacts in the past, but never experienced the burning sensations before. I'm still looking for the answer.
2102085 tn?1350866645 After a few days of the increased Lexapro dosage the severity of my nausea and brain discomfort increased as well. It was miserable. So, through my own trial and error I skipped a dose and my symptoms decreased! Could it be possible my Lexapro was making me ill? With that thought, I went to my p-doc yesterday to explain my findings, and she suggested that I wean off Lexapro and immediately switch to Paxil. She put me on a plan where i decrease my Lexapro and slowly add Paxil.
Avatar f tn Remember that this is prescribed to treat depression and anxiety and that we will have bad days and good days with/without medication. Quite often, doctors will prescribe a benzo like klonopin while you start or switch medications like Zoloft and Lexapro. Klonopin is also a longer acting benzo that is prescribed more long term than others like xanax and ativan. Throughout all of this have you had access to a therapist to talk through your anxiety?
Avatar f tn i take lexapro, and i was coming off the prozac, but before that paxil, and i started 20mg and i had no symptoms or anything. but im still feeling like i need an increase.
