Two years ago I had augmentation of my jaw/chin done by a plastic surgeon using Hydroxyapatite. The goal was to widen my jaw by adding volume at the start of the jawline. Additionally, volume was going to be added to my chin to widen it. Well, instead of adding volume right the start of my jaw, the surgeon chose to add a large blob of Hydroxyapatite midway long my jaw and then blend it forward towards the chin.
My 25 year old daughter had surgery for a lump in her neck. It was 5cm and found to be ancient schwannomas. The day after surgery the doctor said now she suffers from Horner's Syndrome and she is also experiencing sharp pain in her jaw. Won't refer for second opinion says just wait a year and see what happens. Shouldn't we get a second opinion from someone?
It might be possible to do reconstructive surgery on the defect left by the previous operation. You need to consult with a plastic surgeon for this. In the meantime, I think you should be having maintenance pain medications. If you are already seeing an oncologist, please follow up with him and tell him about your chronic pain problem, so you can be given the appropriate medication.
I also have felt a little tingle in my face in that area when I open wide and hear a small click in my jaw. Does this sound like TMJ and could it be related to the surgery? Should I contact my oral surgeon or a dentist that specializes in this? I hope this pain is temporary because it is really annoying. I also had a dry socket/slow heal on that side, but it feels fine now. This seemed to come out of the blue! Anyone experience this? Thanks in advance!!
I am at my wits end!!! my mri came back normal which is good, but why am i in so much pain!!! this is very frustrating.

Sometimes it takes weeks to get results back. I'm still waiting for the results of my TMJ/jaw CT scan they did in october. The problem is they have wanted to send it to a special radiologist in Texas to take a look.
Keep plugging away, it sometimes takes a while to get everything settled and diagnosised but it's worth it.
For the last several months, however, I have experienced daily pain mainly in the upper front thigh area. It is not the groin pain I had prior to learning I would need surgery. Also, the pain is not constant - it only arrives when I move certain ways or, get this, sneeze. Believe or not, a sneeze produces a ridiculous amount of pain for a couple of seconds. Also, I can no longer do an extended leg lift exercise from a sitting position and it is also very difficult to do while laying down.
hi i went to see the oral and maxillofacail surgeon last thursday they can see the screw and it wasn't infected it just painfull will jaw surgery cause my pain i had jaw surgery 7 yrs ago and its really painfull like stabbing pain now i''m getting an mri i hope it can show whats wrong with me the pain is so sever i get really tired durring the day, painfull when chewing,can't sleep on my left side of my face please replay a.s.a.

I have no idea what to suggest for you. I've dealt with daily facial/jaw pain for 11 years now, every day, it rages.
i had some soft tissue damage and one torn ligament . i had surgery to repair the ligament. after the surgery the physical therapy felt like murder one spot on the top part of the finger felt like knives stabbin when the therapist pushed and pulled.. an infection came up and i got on antibiotics the swelling left then i started therapy again . the very same thing happened horrible pain and infection. this time a hole opened up and drained. the hole wouldnt heal and it was about 3/16 in wide.
A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
What was your osteotomy for? The clicking jaw and pain could be due to the surgery. This is something you should follow up with the treating surgeon.
I also have alot of pain and tightness in the jaws in the mornings and it takes a while for me to be able to fully open my mouth. There is pain with chewing, yawning, talking and side movements of my jaw. I have also been getting alot of pretty bad headaches, I wake up in the middle of the night at times due to headaches and usually always have one when I awaken in the mornings.
