Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain after knee surgery

jaw-pain

Avatar f tn I have been suffering from knee problems for years, i was very overweight and after x-rays was told it was severe deterioration and had no cartilage left but was too young to operate (36). Fast forward to a couple years later, i lost all the weight (150lbs) but knees are still painful in anything i do (if i go for a small walk, i’ll be ok but then my knees are so stiff i can’t go up the stairs when i get home).
Avatar m tn Just want to understand what I would expect should I need to go through anything. I've been having lots of jaw and neck issues, which I think could potentially use some form of surgery. I've been avoiding it by doing some therapy at home but it only works to an extent. My concern is the anesthesia and also any medications I need to take for pain after the surgeries, if I choose to do this, would have on the liver. Wonder what experiences everyone has had with this.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your update. It's good to hear from you again. I am delighted to hear that you are healing. Wonderful News!! I've researched your past posts and can't find the diagnosis on this last knee surgery. I know it was to be an arthroscopic but if you have a large scar it sounds like it turned out to be more involved. Can you share with us what your surgeon discovered? You back and hip pain may well be as we discussed on your last post...
Avatar m tn I have almost every day muscle and joint pain, and I get red spots on my handpalm and under my feet. I get pain on my foot joint, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers and jaw. The pain change every day, one day I have pain only on my knee and the other day I have pain on my jaw and wrist. Five years ago I went to the Netherlands to study. In 2004 is when it started, I went to two rheumatologist, but the results show that I don’t have Rheumatoid arthritis.
1092452 tn?1257350509 I can tell you from their experience that everyone heals at different rates. Pain should be less after surgery than it was before surgery once the initial surgical pain has ceased. Is your knee warm to touch or red or swollen? I don't know what your surgeon is telling you. If you haven't seen him recently I suggest that you return for an evaluation. If he ignores your complaints and concerns than I suggest that you see another ortho.
Avatar f tn I had my right knee TKR in June 2010, I cannot recall what the pain was pre-op, but I do know that it is very bad and has been since surgery. I have fairly good function with the knee and am able to do the work I love (I would be very depressed to lose that) but work is the whole of my life as it HURTS during the work day and it takes the rest of my day to 'recover' somewhat. I have pain in the night quite often and pain upon waking.
Avatar f tn I hate to read you are suffering. A knee replacement is suppose to improve your function and it does not sound like that has been your experience. Have you talked to your doctor about your symptoms? Has he/she given you any feedback? I have not had a knee replaced but hope someone here who has will write to you. You might also post in the orthopedics forum as I know they talk about joint replacements there as well.
Avatar m tn Also, I have cold knee symptoms while sitting down and i can feel nodes on top of both my knees. Also, the back side of my left knee was paining one evening but my right knee was fine. Also on one particular day i felt some pain on my shoulder blades, starting more on my left shoulder area. But it subsided by the next day. I also noticed today that when i started walking i could feel pain on my hips. I'm 32, male, with high LDL and high SGPT. and borderline sugar.
Avatar n tn Hope some of this is useful to you. My last jaw surgery (my 5th) was 10.5 hours long and they rebuilt the jaw using rib bones and tissues from my upper thigh, and turned out wonderfully. It has been 10 years and all I get is some muscle tension. No clicking or grinding. and I open at 40mm. (after surgery I was opening at 2mm) One last thing. A physiotherapist trained in jaw joints is worth their weight in gold. Pre or post surgery.
Avatar f tn Hi JB, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you have found us but very sorry to hear about your knee pain. In my personal opinion it is always best to get a second opinion when you have questions or are unsure what direction to go. It just can't hurt. Maybe he/she will have another option for you and a new set of eyes, experience and thoughts cannot be detrimental. "Bad knees" and TKR strongly run in my family. Each memeber has had a bit different experience.
Avatar n tn My sister had a petela and ligament reconstruction, plsu numerous other things done because of tears etc. found after going into the knee. Less than one week after surgery and after going to Physical therapy twice she started having a burning sensation on the shin below the knee that was operated on.
Avatar f tn My husband had TKR on May 5, 2008 and isstill walking with a walker. After surgery his knee looked like a football was in it for weeks and his foot is swollen also. He has constant pain. Had tests for infection, blood clots, which were negeative. Has be doing PT, but still cannot walk with a cane. Said it feels like his knee is going to give out. Is now on anti-inflammatory and swelling is going down. Doctors say "everyone is differant and it takes time to heal".
Avatar f tn my surgeon said that the pain was only supposed to last a week at most, and that after two weeks the cyst removal area should be completely healed.
Avatar n tn Patients do have occasional pain after total knee replacement even if their total knees are healed flawlessly. Pain in the knee after total knee replacement can occur due to knee infection or loosening, resurfaced patella, with effusion in the joint occuring due to worn out polyethylene components, due to damage to the vessels and nerves around the knee etc. In case of infection antibiotics would help. In case of worn out polyethylene components may be reoperation could be considered.
467070 tn?1224625377 He was planning to commit suicide when he heard about Upper Cervical Care, went and got and got under care and he now lives pain-free and wants to tell other sufferers about his miracle. I had a really bad knee and was facing my 2nd knee surgery in 2 years when I heard about Upper Cervical Care, started going to the doctor and was off my pain meds the same week. I am now living pain-free . . it is a miracle and want to give you hope that it WILL get better.
655727 tn?1283296048 The knee will not bend as far as it did before you developed knee problems, but the surgery will allow you to stand and walk for longer periods without pain. After surgery, you may be allowed to resume activities such as golfing, riding a bike, swimming, walking for exercise, dancing etc. Keeping in view the restriction on bending the knees, you may not extremely bend the knee but may learn to discover a new position on the top but with less bending of affected knee. That will help.
