Avatar n tn I have posted previously about pain over my front teeth after after having a porcelain crown over the second to the rear back tooth. I have recently examined my mouth and gum areas and am fairly certain that my right front tooth is now sticking up and has shifted slightly. They are tight together and when I tilt my head up I can see easily where they are no longer aligned. I clearly remember my teeth being straight before. Is this at all possible?
Avatar n tn I had a huge filling taken out of my tooth and never felt any pain. Core crown build up around the tooth and a temp put on, never had any pain. A month later he puts the permanent crown on, I feel drastic pain. If the dentist puts the crown on, make sure he does you occlusal right. I never knew if an occlusal was not done right, it could cause alot of things in your facial area to go wrong. Including TMJ. good luck. ps make sure you get a good dentist or expert to do any work.
Avatar m tn I had a dental implant and a crown on top of it on the upper jaw, one of the back teeth. The area around the implant feels a little bit numb, under my eye there is a senstation, and just below the eyebrow hurts. Periodic headache on above the ear area occurs, usually night time. I keep taking pain-killers. I have been in pain for over one month. Is this normal after dental impant?
Avatar n tn and was told it was normal. after several days pain STILL did not go away. I went back in and the dental hygeninst drilled the tooth so it didn't hit the upper teeth. While doing so she drilled THROUGH my temp crown and hit a nerve then patched the hole. I was in worse pain than when I went in. I begged for antibiotics, and pain meds which my dentist reluctantly prescribed. he told me I needed a root canal. So, I promptly went to an endodontist. who spent an hour with me.

Avatar n tn Feels like a nerve thing as main area of pain is lower front of jaw and at hinge of jaw when temp is in upper right jaw. Any suggestions or thoughts??
Avatar f tn I told the dentist about my pain and he said I might need a root canal so he prescribed me some pain meds and antibiotics if the pain continues. After my crown replacement appointment I was very numb and hours later once it wore off I was again in serious achy pains so I took the medications. It has now been almost a week and I have been in this same pain every day (constantly on the medicines). This may or may not be related but I was given a different type of shot than I am used to.
Avatar n tn THe pain continued so the dentist removed the crown and gave me root canal treatment and fitted the permanent crown. The pain has continued. It is a dull continual ache that extends into my ear and jaw. Reading blogs online it seem that the nerve in my jaw may have been damaged. Anyone gone through similar experience? Do I need to go back to my dentist or to a neuro doctor?
Avatar n tn Hi, I went for cleaning and full mouth x ray and had no problem at all. Dentist said that there is one molar which was not properly filled, it was filled above another filling , so he will clean up that and fill it again and put the crown. But I didn't feel any pain and no cavities. I did the filling only and said I don't need the crown and paid large copay amount. I felt numb for 2.
Avatar n tn The dentist flossed around the crown and between the tooth with the new filling and I instantly felt pain. The pain goes all the way down to the jaw. I told the dentist and he said it should go away in a few days. I do not understand how it felt fine before, and now it is in pain. I would appreciate any help because now I am fearful of going back.

Avatar f tn I am getting a bridge made for my bottom left side and had my mouth open for a total of 5 hours in 1 day. The pain in my jaw was severe, and my ear feels like there is something in it. There is also a noise when I chew, or open my mouth. I can't open my mouth very big yet, but it is improving. There is no clicking sound when I open and close my mouth . It is more of a whooshing sound. I have a temporary bridge in and although it is not great the bite is OK. My Dr.
Avatar n tn d be fine i was in pain and afterwords was still in pain it feels like this sharp shooting daggers through my jaw bone and throbbing and kinda like labor pains only in my jaw contractions i guess after the crown the pain is still there and i went back he sent me to sombody else who said oh well its wisdom teeth and so i had those pulled The pain is still there i keep going back now they think i want pain medication until i said if it was pain pills i could get them off the street for a lot less
Avatar n tn I then had a root canal done through the crown and had a lot of pain after that but eventually the tooth started feeling better. I cannot yet eat on that side as the ligaments were affected and may take months to get back to normal. And my clenching doesn't help either. My advice to you is not to wait too long to see a specialist as the longer the tooth is in distress, the longer it will take to heal and you could lose it as well (that's what I was told). Good luck!
784382 tn?1376931040 No problem. Sounds like you got some dental work lined up that needs to get done. I don't do crown lengthening so I'm not sure exactly what the healing time on it is, but it should be about the same as an extraction so I'd say one week should be when its better or almost entirely gone. The big hole can be normal after 3 weeks depending on the complexity of the extraction.
Avatar n tn When I had the temp crown on, the muscle at the top of my jaw, near my temple and above my left ear pulses or twitches several times a day. It did not start happening right away after the temp crown was on, but I would say a day or two after. The twitching didn't happen everyday either. Then I started getting headaches where the muscle had previously spazzed. So when I went back to the dentist for my perm crown, I asked him about it.
Avatar n tn Since the temporary crown has been fitted I have been in constant pain, with an ache. The crown appears to fit well and my bite seems fine. The pain seems to be deep, but I notice the gum is sensitive to the front of the tooth only. The gum also appears slightly swollen, but I'm not quite sure on this one. Is this normal after 10 days? The pain is made worse by eating, but I can apply pressure on the tooth OK. I would go back to my dentist, but he is currently on holidays for 5 weeks.
Avatar f tn Now my whole jaw aches with pain shooting up to my eyes and back to my ear with a throbbing pressure pain under the temp crown area and sharp very sensitive pain in the area that doesn't feel like it got covered with the acryclic temporary crown. The part of the tooth that was covered well doesn't bother me at all--it's where the acryclic didn't cover the tooth where some of the composite broke off and I wasn't even eatting anything at all on that side since the procedure.
Avatar n tn Doctors, your advice would be very much appreciated. Several weeks ago, I went in to see my dentist for a new crown. After the first injection of anesthetic didn't take, he injected me with another. In the process, a shooting electric like shock went through my lower jaw. He explained this was because he had hit the nerve but it would be alright. Since then, I have been back to him complaining of pain in my teeth along my lower jaw. The only relief I get is from ibuprofen.
Avatar n tn I no longer have dental insurance, live in a different state than before, am in severe pain and my jaw is swelling. Dont know what to do. feels like a nerve is exposed. The ground down teeth are both black in color. Is that the way they were prepared before crowning?
Avatar n tn Just an additional note - now I am feeling some pain in my mouth & jaw area where the crown was placed. Also, the gum is swollen near my wisdom tooth, which is two teeth behind where the crown was placed. Not red or anything, but puffy & tender.
Avatar n tn Remove the temporary crowns. Usually your pain will diasappear shortly after removal of temporary crown. If these teeth are vital, you may experience sensitivity to cold stimulus. However, it's generally tolorable. Then, go back to your dentist to adjust the bite until you feel perfectly comfortable with the temporary crowns. If temporary crown is not successful, the final crown is not likely to work well.
