Avatar n tn There was a cavity that the dentist was going to try to just fill but he said it would be better to go with a crown because I would probably need one in a couple of years anyway. The temporary crown was perfect. No pain whatsoever. The perm. crown was ok for about a week. Then it started to hurt when I would chew on that side. There was pain in the tooth and in the jaw area. I went back to the dentist and he said my bite was off and filed it down. It still hurt.
Avatar n tn THe pain continued so the dentist removed the crown and gave me root canal treatment and fitted the permanent crown. The pain has continued. It is a dull continual ache that extends into my ear and jaw. Reading blogs online it seem that the nerve in my jaw may have been damaged. Anyone gone through similar experience? Do I need to go back to my dentist or to a neuro doctor?
Avatar n tn I had a huge filling taken out of my tooth and never felt any pain. Core crown build up around the tooth and a temp put on, never had any pain. A month later he puts the permanent crown on, I feel drastic pain. If the dentist puts the crown on, make sure he does you occlusal right. I never knew if an occlusal was not done right, it could cause alot of things in your facial area to go wrong. Including TMJ. good luck. ps make sure you get a good dentist or expert to do any work.
Avatar f tn I have developed a blue spot on the chewing surface of the tooth. I am facial pain around by jaw and ear. I had jaw surgery 10 years ago with plates and screws. Could the jaw pain be from the plates and screws in by jaw.

Avatar n tn I have posted previously about pain over my front teeth after after having a porcelain crown over the second to the rear back tooth. I have recently examined my mouth and gum areas and am fairly certain that my right front tooth is now sticking up and has shifted slightly. They are tight together and when I tilt my head up I can see easily where they are no longer aligned. I clearly remember my teeth being straight before. Is this at all possible?
Avatar n tn The first month the crown was on it felt perfect. I get a quick pulsating pain, and itchy feeling around the crown. Near the gums. It feels like the crown just isn't a perfect fit. If I chew on the left side, my gums feel a burning sensation. Like the crown is digging into it. Could I be allergic to this crown? Could there be too much cement under the crown pushing on my gums? Any idea on what the problem could be? Help!
Avatar f tn it always hurts.. its a throbbing pain.
Avatar m tn The pain in my face is along my jaw, and now radiating all the way over to my nose, and to my jaw in the front. It almost feels as if fluid is building up in my face (?). Help!
Avatar n tn I went home, and when the numbing wore off, I was in severe pain. not just my tooth. but also my whole face and jaw. I called the dr. and was told it was normal. after several days pain STILL did not go away. I went back in and the dental hygeninst drilled the tooth so it didn't hit the upper teeth. While doing so she drilled THROUGH my temp crown and hit a nerve then patched the hole. I was in worse pain than when I went in.
Avatar f tn One month later, I was back in the office with severe pain. After many visits with no resolution. My jaw swelled up and I had to have the tooth removed. This required me to get a bridge. The tooth for the back part of the bridge had a crown on it with a previous root canal from about 10 years ago. I had never had any problems with this tooth. Once the bridge was placed, I had severe sensitivity and pain from the back tooth.
Avatar n tn Remove the temporary crowns. Usually your pain will diasappear shortly after removal of temporary crown. If these teeth are vital, you may experience sensitivity to cold stimulus. However, it's generally tolorable. Then, go back to your dentist to adjust the bite until you feel perfectly comfortable with the temporary crowns. If temporary crown is not successful, the final crown is not likely to work well.
Avatar n tn Feels like a nerve thing as main area of pain is lower front of jaw and at hinge of jaw when temp is in upper right jaw. Any suggestions or thoughts??
Avatar f tn I wouldn't say its normal after a crown fitting but I wasn't providing treatment so I don't know what else may have happened to cause it. As long as the swelling is gone, I would leave it alone and just watch for any worsening symptoms. The swelling may be due to the anesthetic fluid from the injections. It should go down pretty rapidly if that's the case.
Avatar n tn The first month the crown was on it felt perfect. I get a quick pulsating pain, and itchy feeling around the crown. It feels like its on the inside of the crown. Near the gums. It feels like the crown just isn't a perfect fit. If I chew on the left side, my gums feel a burning sensation. Like the crown is digging into the gums. Could I be allergic to this crown? Resin? Could there be too much cement under the crown pushing on my gums?
Avatar f tn The endodentist also took X-ray and said the filling was close to nerve and needed root canal. I did root canal on 3 December 2020. Same symptoms after 1 week pain in jaw and ear and now extend to neck. Went back to endodentist and she took more x rays and find nothing wrong so she did 3D X-ray tomography to see what's going on. 3D came back normal, no fracture and no infection. She said wait for 2 weeks and see what happen. She gave me antibiotics augmenten for 10 days.
Avatar m tn I had a dental implant and a crown on top of it on the upper jaw, one of the back teeth. The area around the implant feels a little bit numb, under my eye there is a senstation, and just below the eyebrow hurts. Periodic headache on above the ear area occurs, usually night time. I keep taking pain-killers. I have been in pain for over one month. Is this normal after dental impant?
Avatar n tn It may be related to the pain/pressure but I would imagine its more due to the crown being a little too high/big for your bite and it may be disturbing your natural bite. I would guess that an adjustment on the bite would be the first step to see how things go. It may also take some time for the jaw bone to calm down after a root canal because it is surgery and sometimes the jaw bone gets "poked" by the instruments used to clean the canals.
