Jaw pain from temporary crown

Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain from temporary crown

jaw-pain

Avatar f tn t have a blood clot where my tooth was removed so they treated it like Dry socket and put packing in it and I was told that maybe I couldnt distinguish where the pain was actually located even though I was convinced it was due to the temporary crown. But today my top jaw is still hurting and im feeling pain at the bottom of my tooth where the crown is placed. Am I crazy or could there seriously be something wrong with my temporary crown or tooth under it?
Avatar n tn The pain that I am experiencing from them is hard to describe. My lower jaw, ear, lower left cheek, and teeth all hurt. My dentist filed down the temps so that my bite was better, but the pain is not getting any better. I have to take 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours. If I wait until I feel pain again to take the ibuprofen it takes almost 2 hours for the pain to go away. The pain wakes me up at night and I am geting worried.
Avatar f tn The dentist ground on the lower teeth to level out the bite, and I am wondering why the pain, why he chose to work on the lower ones instead of fixing the temporary one above, and why there was so much pain just from a wrong bite. None of that is an issue now, and it has been such a long time I forgot about it. I will definitely check on the allergic issue. Thank you for your comments.
Avatar n tn Feels like a nerve thing as main area of pain is lower front of jaw and at hinge of jaw when temp is in upper right jaw. Any suggestions or thoughts??
Avatar m tn can make a difference and cause pain. He said he thought the pain was muscular. My jaw hurts from the joint near my ear and sometimes the pain travels down to my front bottom tooth. Any ideas? What about when the permanent crown comes in? Will it still hurt? This really stinks because it didn't even hurt when I went in for my checkup and cleaning. Now it's constant pain.
Avatar n tn i had my front upper tooth grinded for a new crown, first i had a root canat than the next day dentist grinded it and on 4th day he put on a new crown, but wen i went bacj=k home with a crown ,next mornning i wake up with sore crown tooth and pain i n my whole jaw,i thought its temoray but with two days passed it was still there,i went back to dentist and he told me bcoz the gum had not healed ,we shud take off the crown and put it back wen it will heal, while taking off the crown my grinded tee
Avatar n tn The previous weeks, while I had my temp on, I had occasional low level pain in my jaw running from my ear to my chin. The dentist told me when the permanent went on, this pain would go away, but it has not and I still have intermittent jaw painn. There is no hot/cold sensivity or pain when biting and the crown feels completely normal. Is this something I should be concerned about? How long might it go on?
Avatar n tn I had a huge filling taken out of my tooth and never felt any pain. Core crown build up around the tooth and a temp put on, never had any pain. A month later he puts the permanent crown on, I feel drastic pain. If the dentist puts the crown on, make sure he does you occlusal right. I never knew if an occlusal was not done right, it could cause alot of things in your facial area to go wrong. Including TMJ. good luck. ps make sure you get a good dentist or expert to do any work.
Avatar m tn My top back molar broke. My dentist drilled it for a crown and put a temporary crown on it. About two days later I developed a pain in both my upper and lower jaws..mind you..this tooth does not hurt it just hurts all around it. Alleve takes the pain away. Went back two weeks later to get the permanent put on and now he won't put it on until I see an endodontist to make sure I don't need a root canal. Really..
Avatar n tn I had a temporary crown fitted three weeks ago. I had a lot of pain and went back to the dentist who adjusted the bite - the pain continued - went back to the dentist who removed the temporary crown to ensure no infection - no evidence of infection but I was given antibiotics as a precaution. I had the permanent crown fitted with temporary cement as there was still a lot of pain.
Avatar n tn removed the cracked portion, placed a pin in and rebuilt up the tooth. The dental hygeinest made my temporary crown. I went home, and when the numbing wore off, I was in severe pain. not just my tooth. but also my whole face and jaw. I called the dr. and was told it was normal. after several days pain STILL did not go away. I went back in and the dental hygeninst drilled the tooth so it didn't hit the upper teeth.
Avatar n tn One of these two teeth had a root canal this fall and had 4 roots. I have had such severe throbbing pain in my upper jaw it is unbearable. The pain feels like it's between the teeth, but shoots to my temple, around my eye, and below my ear. I went back to my dentist this past week, and he removed one of the temporary crowns (the one that had the root canal), cleaned/dug around it, and replaced the temporary crown. He took an x-ray and said things looked ok.
Avatar n tn A week ago today I had a temporary crown put on lower right molar while a permanent crown is being made. When anesthegia wore off I was left in chronic extreme pain that extends from the middle of my lip and jaw to my ear and up into my eye socket. The pain is extreme but centered on the lower row of teeth where the crown was put on. Yesterday the dentist checked everything, did a second xray, and found nothing.
Avatar n tn Doctor has prepared my tooth (molar, #30) for a crown, however while waiting for a crown for a about a week I've experienced pain in my down and even upper jaw from the right side. Took ibuprofen, so I could function during the day and sleep during night. No pain directly in the tooth, but dull pain around it in the jaw.

Avatar n tn There was a cavity that the dentist was going to try to just fill but he said it would be better to go with a crown because I would probably need one in a couple of years anyway. The temporary crown was perfect. No pain whatsoever. The perm. crown was ok for about a week. Then it started to hurt when I would chew on that side. There was pain in the tooth and in the jaw area. I went back to the dentist and he said my bite was off and filed it down. It still hurt.
Avatar f tn Ever since then I have had extreme pain radiating from the tooth along my bottom jaw from ear to front eye tooth. Now tonight the fillings he did are starting to throb. Is it possible the root canal is not complete? Are the fillings just going to be sensitive for a period of time? No pain pill is touching the pain it seems the only thing to stop the pain is heat and peppermint oil on the gums. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn My jaw pain is on left side only - same side as tooth. My crown was placed on tooth with temporary cement and left like that for months - but the off and on discomfort remained. It is NOT same pain I experienced when it was cracked - - it is on the sides only and almost feels like it is loose - yet dentists have examined it and say it is not loose. Also - most of the time when the tooth hurts, my jaw (on left only) hurts - the pain goes back to from of ear area.
Avatar n tn I have recently been prescribed Z-pack and then amoxycillin for what appeared to be a sinus infection (pain in face and upper and lower jaw on one side). The amoxycillin cleared it up finally, but now it is returning with more obvious signs that it is from my back upper right molar, with pain when I chew and pretty consistent throbbing. The first antibiotic was early-December, the second was right after.
Avatar m tn What symptoms would you experience if the cording was not removed and temporary crown was placed over the cord. I had temporary crown placed on upper rear molar, second from the last on June 3rd. I was told to expect discomfort for 2 to 3 days. I began experiencing prolonged severe intermittent pain in upper and lower jaw especially in opposing tooth. Also pain in cheek, and ear. Ligaments behind teeth were inflamed and painful. On Sunday I could no longer bear the pain.
Avatar m tn Then the root canal charge, then the new crown charge! And guess what? I had zero pain before I even had the crown started. I only gave him the go ahead because he said that "eventually" that tooth will need a crown. I figured he must know what he is talking about so I said lets get it over with. Now look at all the grief and expense I am in the midst of now! Any help truly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am experiencing a very similiar situation. A permanent crown replaced a temporary crown. I only experienced pain while chewing on the temporary crown which I expected because of the grinding that was done to the tooth (molar). Anyway, three weeks went by and the permanent crown was put on. I told the Dentist about how the temporary crown partially was lefted while I accidently was chewing gum, which really hurt. I gargled with hydrogen proxide and felt okay.
Avatar f tn To make a long story shorter, after examining my tooth, he then decided I needed a root canal if I had that much pain and wanted to send me to an endologist to do the root canal or I had the option to live with the pain until the permanent crown was ready and just wait to see if it was just the temporary crown causing the pain.
703897 tn?1248019974 If there was tight contact between natural tooth and temporary crown, and there is gap between final crown and natural tooth during final try in, the possible causes are: lab error, teeth shift due to occlusal trauma or periodontal disease. If provisional crown works well , i.e, optimally comfort chewing, no thermal sensitivity(vital tooth), final crown can be fabricated.
Avatar n tn I had the crown prep done on Weds. My dentist put me on antibiotics and vicodin for the pain. The anitbiotics usually calm things down in a couple days. My endo/root canal is being done next friday. It is my molar furthest back on the right bottom. My whole face and jaw is still very swollen and it is definately painful. I have a ton of work in my mouth but am not familiar with the term you use "pulpotomy" do you mean root canal?
Avatar m tn you probably need a root canal and gave me and RX for vicodin and Clindamycin. Pain did get better over the weekend however now the lower teeth, are hurting as well as my lower jaw. Tylenol and Ibuprofen help but pain is still there when it wears off. Could the crowned tooth be higher than the other teeth causing it to put more pressure on the ones below? I don't know what else could be causing this pain The tooth that he worked on really isn't that sore anymore...
