Avatar n tn ve moved since then and he is too far away. How can a nerve die under a crown? When he put the crown on my tooth hurt the whole time, he said he couldn't numb it any further and I would just have to put up with it.
Avatar n tn The first month the crown was on it felt perfect. I get a quick pulsating pain, and itchy feeling around the crown. It feels like its on the inside of the crown. Near the gums. It feels like the crown just isn't a perfect fit. If I chew on the left side, my gums feel a burning sensation. Like the crown is digging into the gums. Could I be allergic to this crown? Resin? Could there be too much cement under the crown pushing on my gums?
Avatar f tn I had a temporary crown placed after my first root canal. I was under full sedation. My jaw/gum soreness is gone but I cannot apply even a tiny but of pressure on the temp without a severe, shooting pain. It's been 10 days since the procedure. Isn't the root dead? It seems to be most sensitive between the temporary crown and the tooth just behind it. Is it possible the root to the tooth behind the root canal is damaged?
Avatar f tn Its originating in a crown that Ive had for more than 10 years and now its causing me earache and tender/swollen glands under my left jaw. Im in agony and Im popping pills like mad! This only numbs the pain slightly and wears off quite quickly. Ive also got a swollen left side of my face and a lump on my gum.
Avatar f tn I have developed a blue spot on the chewing surface of the tooth. I am facial pain around by jaw and ear. I had jaw surgery 10 years ago with plates and screws. Could the jaw pain be from the plates and screws in by jaw.
Avatar m tn While wearing the temporary, I noticed pain, both in the tooth and jaw. Sometimes, the jaw pain was worse than the tooth pain. Three weeks later, I got the permanent put on. While fitting it, my remaining tooth was very sensitive to the many attempts. He said "that's good, it means it's alive". After the permanent was put on, I had bite issues for a week or so, he adjusted, feels better now. I am left with severe pain...most sensitive under my left cheek bone.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal and it became infected under the crown. The canal then became abcessed and spread to my neck and jaw. I let a dental surgeon pull the tooth and have been on antibiotics 3 times now to clear up the infection. Please don't let it go....Go to a specialist and they can prescribe the correct anitbiotics for you.
Avatar n tn I went home, and when the numbing wore off, I was in severe pain. not just my tooth. but also my whole face and jaw. I called the dr. and was told it was normal. after several days pain STILL did not go away. I went back in and the dental hygeninst drilled the tooth so it didn't hit the upper teeth. While doing so she drilled THROUGH my temp crown and hit a nerve then patched the hole. I was in worse pain than when I went in.
Avatar n tn There was a cavity that the dentist was going to try to just fill but he said it would be better to go with a crown because I would probably need one in a couple of years anyway. The temporary crown was perfect. No pain whatsoever. The perm. crown was ok for about a week. Then it started to hurt when I would chew on that side. There was pain in the tooth and in the jaw area. I went back to the dentist and he said my bite was off and filed it down. It still hurt.

Avatar n tn Especially after I floss right between the crown and other molar... I also would get a shooting pulsating feeling under the crown... So one day last week I chewed on some Fritos and the shooting sensation (itch) on the crown and other back tooth went away... Chewing on something hard like chips took the itch away... Weird, I know... Any idea what these symptoms really could be?
Avatar n tn The very last tooth had and old filling, the middle tooth an ugly crown and the tooth in front of it a large crack and decay under existing filling. My DDS opted for an inlay, onlay and new crown. From the time the numbing medicine wore off the cracked tooth hurt. I returned to my DDS 3 or 4 times complaining of a toothache, jaw pain and earache. He felt the tooth was "too high" and adjusted it to no avail. Today I had a root canal on the tooth....and guess what?
Avatar m tn The pain in my face is along my jaw, and now radiating all the way over to my nose, and to my jaw in the front. It almost feels as if fluid is building up in my face (?). Help!
5875644 tn?1375886365 I have also had a root canal done which resulted in that tooth receiving a full crown (ouch on the cost too), and I assume you have had the tooth sealed up somehow, say a crown. You didn't say. I would see my primary care first, to the degree I understand your problem... clearly you need get a medical check.
Avatar m tn you probably need a root canal and gave me and RX for vicodin and Clindamycin. Pain did get better over the weekend however now the lower teeth, are hurting as well as my lower jaw. Tylenol and Ibuprofen help but pain is still there when it wears off. Could the crowned tooth be higher than the other teeth causing it to put more pressure on the ones below? I don't know what else could be causing this pain The tooth that he worked on really isn't that sore anymore...
Avatar n tn I had a cavity that was under a filling of tooth 14 and I had to have a crown down. I have had this temp crown on for 4 weeks and it is feeling as the tooth is in a vice. The tooth is throbbing and going to the jaw. Now he is saying root canal. I remember when placing on the temp crown that he stated it was so tight that we will have to cut it off if we use permanent cement on it. This was done....!
Avatar n tn The dentist told me when the permanent went on, this pain would go away, but it has not and I still have intermittent jaw painn. There is no hot/cold sensivity or pain when biting and the crown feels completely normal. Is this something I should be concerned about? How long might it go on?
Avatar n tn Feels like a nerve thing as main area of pain is lower front of jaw and at hinge of jaw when temp is in upper right jaw. Any suggestions or thoughts??
Avatar m tn I had a dental implant and a crown on top of it on the upper jaw, one of the back teeth. The area around the implant feels a little bit numb, under my eye there is a senstation, and just below the eyebrow hurts. Periodic headache on above the ear area occurs, usually night time. I keep taking pain-killers. I have been in pain for over one month. Is this normal after dental impant?
Avatar n tn I am having terrible pain under my crown. I have had this crown for 4 years with no trouble. Could it be infected? I was give pain killers for the weekend and they seem to do no good. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn THe pain continued so the dentist removed the crown and gave me root canal treatment and fitted the permanent crown. The pain has continued. It is a dull continual ache that extends into my ear and jaw. Reading blogs online it seem that the nerve in my jaw may have been damaged. Anyone gone through similar experience? Do I need to go back to my dentist or to a neuro doctor?
Avatar n tn The pain that I am experiencing from them is hard to describe. My lower jaw, ear, lower left cheek, and teeth all hurt. My dentist filed down the temps so that my bite was better, but the pain is not getting any better. I have to take 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours. If I wait until I feel pain again to take the ibuprofen it takes almost 2 hours for the pain to go away. The pain wakes me up at night and I am geting worried.
Avatar n tn firstly, if the tooth has a post, then it already had a root canal. secondly, YOU are the best measure of whether or not a crown is "high". If it feels "off", then it is. The pain in your gum tissue may be becasue the crown was buried too far under the tissue--this is common with second molars becasue these teeth are short and tooth structure below the gumlne is used for extra retention.

Avatar m tn can make a difference and cause pain. He said he thought the pain was muscular. My jaw hurts from the joint near my ear and sometimes the pain travels down to my front bottom tooth. Any ideas? What about when the permanent crown comes in? Will it still hurt? This really stinks because it didn't even hurt when I went in for my checkup and cleaning. Now it's constant pain.
Avatar n tn I had the crown prep done on Weds. My dentist put me on antibiotics and vicodin for the pain. The anitbiotics usually calm things down in a couple days. My endo/root canal is being done next friday. It is my molar furthest back on the right bottom. My whole face and jaw is still very swollen and it is definately painful. I have a ton of work in my mouth but am not familiar with the term you use "pulpotomy" do you mean root canal?
