Avatar f tn There is just no way to know if it was the flu, or the start of kidney stones causing her to be so sick. If it was the flu, and it caused kidney stones, is that something I have to be worried about everytime she has the flu? I don't know, I just know I don't want to experience another month like we've had. This has been pretty bad, and don't want her to have this again. Any thoughts? Thanks!
540521 tn?1221703306 The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get? I don't know what else to do , I am at a loss, any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You..
895634 tn?1283992810 Kidney stone often is hereditary so you should ask if any relatives also had kidney stones. Taking pain killers for the pain is not the proper treatment for kidney stones. Taking a pain killer to avoid the pain is not good medicine. It is masking the underlying condition which can be a serious one. A hepatologist is not an expert in kidney disease. They should refer you to a Urologist. A Urologist specializes in diseases and conditions of the kidneys and urinary track.
192055 tn?1263559137 -Last 2 days I have had a constant, dull/aching pain on my right side where my kidney is located. -Bit of tolerable cramping last few days. When can I expect to pass the stone? How long does it take for a stone to leave the body? During one time urinating or does it take a day? Can you give me any helpful info?! All I know is to go to the ER if I have a lot of bloog in my urine or if I can pee. What else should I know? Thank you!

Avatar n tn I have been dealing with Kidney Stones for the past seven years. I have had lithotripsy 4 times to break up the stones. I have also passed several on my own. My first symptons that something is going on is that I have slight chills and severe diarrhea. It starts slow and within 2 hours it is pouring out of me like water. I then get abdominal pain and nausous. If I take a Vicotin soon enough after these symptoms start I can usually ward off throwing up.
Avatar n tn // I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
342647 tn?1291111533 He was going to give me painkillers at first but after spending five hours in the ER the pain did start subsiding so he opted for Tylenol at this point (wasn't sure what he would of given me instead) and he said that unfortunatley the treatment for stones is pain relief and LOTS and LOTS of water and waiting for it to pass. This really stinks for you and hopefully it will pass soon.
Avatar m tn I got diagnosed with epididymitis a week ago and the pain has just now began to leave. Is this common and how long does it normally take for the pain to go completely away along with the swelling? My scrotum hasn't swollen and i've had a ultrasound, blood test, and urine sample and all came back negitive for cancer or a tumor. I'm really frightened about it and hope that this is just epididymitis.
Avatar m tn It has been a long while since I had them but back then they were just coming out with using laser to remove stones. they will break up the large ones small enough for you to pass. I am sure you know this already being a nurse.
Avatar n tn Don't overdo it though, as too much water is no good for you and can make you ill. There is no way of telling how long it will take for a stone to come out on its one. Mine took well over 4 months. Most of it passed on its own, but a piece of it got stuck in the ureter and had to be surgically removed. Every time it moved I was very ill. Some people say to drink lemon juice or lemonade or coke products to dissolve the stone, but I cannot say for certain if this works or not.
1301089 tn?1290670171 The pain is so acute it will send you to ER. It is worse than childbirth....that's been true for every person afflicted with kidney stones that I know. When I had my last stone which was "Hummer" sized I wouldn't even allow the ER physician to touch my flank. If you had tiny gravely stones it would still produce red blood cells in your urine which should be dected on a UA. Your symptoms do sound renal. I hope that it will pass or be related to the diuretic.
452063 tn?1324078516 It takes a long time for them to appear......very slow gradual build up develops the kidney stones.....They dont disappear immediately either..... Kim - - - I actually have some medical knowledge and sorta knew that something could develop.......Just dont operate efficiently when you are narcotizized I guess - - - and I dont recognize pain with enough narc's in me .... Superman?
192055 tn?1263559137 How long does it take for the stone to pass... does it travel from the kidney when I pee... or does it move over a course of a couple times of using the bathroom? I just want to know how long the pain will last. Also, i am unsure of how many stones but... I have had sharp pains for 2 weeks... constant dull pain in my lower right back for 2 days... when should I expect the stones to start moving?
Avatar n tn My husband is 26 and passes stones constantly. He has had to have 2 surgeries a year since 18 for stones to large to pass, and that doesn't include passable stones and the sand he passes all the time. If you are recurringly getting stones you need to see a urologist for testing. Sometimes its a thyroid issue, other times its metabolic.
Avatar f tn I have 3 of them and they are 3 and 4 mm in size. What I am not sure is how long does it take for those darn things to pass and how do you know they are all gone? Does the pain go away right after? I had the us Friday and I haven't had any real bad pain. Is it going to all of a sudden hit me? I am soo nervous. I finally get my BFP and get through a good us and bam I have kidney stones! Thank you so much for your time -You gals are great!
Avatar f tn This was when I got the diagnosis of MSK. It also resulted in a week long stay in the hospital for massive internal bleeding on my right kidney and yet another laser surgery. My right kidney is now deformed (shaped like a horseshoe). Fast forward to June of this year and I have undergone 2 more lithotripsies (possibly will need a 3rd one - will find out next week), and currently have bilateral stints which are painful enough on their own.
Avatar f tn As someone else said, toredol does absolutely nothing for my kidney stone pain. Just be careful with how much you take. And hang in there.
15905440 tn?1443866928 I think you may be looking for one, simple, answer but that answer may not be available. First, I would suggest that after your next surgery, you have your Urologist send the kidney stone off to a lab and have it analized. That will tell you what your stone is primarily made of. For example, in my case, many years ago I had one of my stones sent to a lab and found that my stones are primarily made up of iron and calcium.
Avatar n tn I don't balme you for not wanting to just take it sound like you are going to be just fine..good for you...please let us know how your doing...
Avatar m tn Again, I'm thinking this is it, so I took my meds, which seem to be doing very little, and am waiting it out. My question is....HOW LONG? I understand it may not pass now, but how long will an attack last? Any suggestions on moving it, or breaking it down at this stage? I understand there are things that help prevent them in the first place, but is there anything I can do now to alleviate the agony. I'm sick, constipated, and this stone is really sticking it too me right now.
162948 tn?1205256292 I had it in for over a year but wanted it removed because my husband and I are planning for another baby. So I have one more question, how long could it take to conceive once it is removed? and is it safe to try the first month that it has been removed?
Avatar m tn Stones that are not removed are also capable of growing even larger, which increases the risk of infection and obstruction of your urinary tract, which then becomes a medical emergency.
230262 tn?1316649534 I can just see an icon where they should be, so it makes it hard to read obviously, lol. When i do click on those blank spots, it does pull up the post and i can see the text inside...weird.. anyhow Ive been busy wtih my kids, my pets and such. got yet another stray cat, starved nearly to death. her pics are uploaded in my profile if you want to see. the other stray is doing great (little YENA, the tiny kitten that looks like a hyena) she is my super sweet lover girl, putty in my hands now.
