Avatar m tn If you only had one stone, slight discomfort after passing it is possible, but that discomfort should not last very long. 3 mm stones normally do not cause me any discomfort after they pass. It's usually the ones bigger than 3 mm that cause me what I call "aftershocks", or discomfort for a little while after I pass a stone. That discomfort certainly doesn't last more than one day either and is very off and on and not steady discomfort.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with a kidney stone 3mm big. Is there any advise as to how I can flush out the stone?
540521 tn?1221703306 The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get? I don't know what else to do , I am at a loss, any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You..
895634 tn?1283992810 They will perform some tests to determine what type of stones you may have, how many and how large your kidney stones are. A KUB (kidney, ureter, bladder) x-ray is usually given to see the stone's location and estimate their size. Also you mentioned you had an MRI recently. If it was an MRI of the abdomen, the stones would have been seen in the MRI. If they are small and can pass then a pain killer to help you pass the stones is appropriate.
Avatar m tn I'm figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar f tn said they were sending off her last urine culture to see if high in calcium and if she needs to be on meds to prevent this. How often do you get kidney stones? Can you try to prevent them with foods, meds, etc.....? How long did your episodes last, from when you found out you had them, until they passed? Thanks for the input you have given. It helps to talk with someone who has been through this. People don't realize what a pain these are.
Avatar n tn has anyone else experienced a kidney infection/ stones during pregnancy ... what did u do for the pain .... all my doc told me was heat but my god is this miserable .. last time I passed a stone they dopped me up on pain meds which is obviously not an option this time ... please help me !! ...
Avatar f tn I told them I thought it was prob kidney stones, and sure enough, it is. GREAT. JUST WONDERFUL. How the hell am I supposed to do this without pain meds? The pain comes and goes, and varies in intensity, so 800 motrin works a little. I am allergic to Torodol, a stronger pain med similar to motrin, and I'm just scared!!! Especially because the closer I get to passing the stone, the more it hurts. It hurts almost as bad as labor at some points, and I'm not exaggerating. What do I do???
Avatar f tn It turns out I have 5 kidney stones. I am new to this. One is 3mm is long and was blocking 2/3 the way down. I was bloated, felt like I would vomit, and had extrem pain. after morphine. they sent me home. I was better and thought I had passed the stone until recently everything is returning in the same order as yesterday. I am scared and dont want to return to the ER they said 3mm was not that big but almost admitted me. I am a bit confussed and really not feeling well.

409451 tn?1206900232 I've also been bloated for about 2 months. (Also, my dad has aweful kidney stones) I was referred to urologist, he thinks it's endo, ordered ct scan, but I haven't had it yet...does anyone have any suggestions or similar issues, I'm feeling really lost and confused!!??
Avatar n tn I suffer from what is called Polycystic Kidney Disease (google it) which causes chronic kidney stones. Many people have this disease with no signs until they are much olde. When their kidneys begin to fail them. Diarrhea is related because when the stone is stuck in the ureter ( the tube leading down to your bladder from your kidney) this sends a message to your entire digestive tract to stop.
Avatar m tn How long it takes to pass a kidney stone depends on how much water you drink also...at the age of 60 I have learned when I feel pain the first thing I think of is to drink some Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water as strong as my taste will allow and as much as my taste will allow...I believe the vinegar makes the stones brittle so they will break down easier...I believe it also removes the stickiness from them so again they break down and don't cluster together...
Avatar n tn how long do these withdrawals last if I'm on day 14 and was throwing up today and still feel all those symptons they say happens to you? i stopped cold turkey and i just want to know when all the pain will go away.
Avatar f tn Yes your pain could be from kidney stones and your pain probably won't be gone completely ,IF IT IS KIDNEY STONE (S), until they are dealt with and gone, by whatever method.
Avatar f tn Pain in my bladder, and pain going down the front of my left thigh. How long should this pain last? It has already been over 1 week.
Avatar m tn because of the back pain from hydronephrosis i have been prescribed norco 10 325 on and off for about a year. i am about to start a new job at a hospital, i do not want them to know that i have these kidney problems because i feel it could hurt my chances at the job. I am going to take a urine screen, if i do not show them my prescription will they see pain meds in my urine screen? and also any advice for getting rid of the stones?
1301089 tn?1290670171 I know this probably isn't the best forum for this but I know all of you and trust you. Also, others have posted about kidney stones here in the past. I have a terrible pain on my right flank. I wake up with it and it only gets worse as the day wears on. It is going on a week now. I've been more nauseated than usual. I also have more severe pain in the bladder and groin area. My Lortab aren't even touching this. I am still on my feet but just barely.. I drink lots of water.
342647 tn?1291111533 I suffer from kidney stones... they suck, but I have a high pain tolerance and opt not to take anything. Yes, they hurt... but if you think about how the pain won't last forever, it helps. And, the stones would have to be pretty large for them to cause kidney damage. Just so you know, most of the time kidney stones resolve themselves. They will break down in the kidneys and most of the time you won't even know you are passing them.
452063 tn?1324078516 I have seen at least a dozen posts with kidney stones. There has to be some correlation between opiate use and kidney stones. My surgeon showed me mine on the CT scan and it's a white circle as big as a golfball. He feels it might be from chemicals but said that it's probably from my chemo. I keep thinking that he is gonna pull out a big white opiate that either says Endo or Watson on it lol. Just wondering if anyone else was told theirs was from chemicals?
Avatar f tn It took a while but the pain I was having was finally diagnosed as a kidney stone and I have another symptomatic one in the other kidney. But I wonder if kidney stones cause anemia because I suddenly became anemic just over a year ago and we have not been able to find a cause. Although I had occult blood in my urine due to the stone, it was not a lot. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this too or if anyone might know if stones can cause anemia?
Avatar m tn I had a CT scan in October (which detected kidney stones) I have had two u/s - one in April and one in July to check for stones. (Stones were the only thing seen). I have had two flat panel x-rays (June/July) prior to each lithotripsy to locate stones. (Stones were the only thing seen). All other tests from my physical are normal. I have an appointment with my PCP next week. I am going to mention endometriosis.
192055 tn?1263559137 I am getting a CT scan done tomorrow. I have never had stones before, I am 20. I hear they are REALLY painful. How long does it take for the stone to pass... does it travel from the kidney when I pee... or does it move over a course of a couple times of using the bathroom? I just want to know how long the pain will last. Also, i am unsure of how many stones but... I have had sharp pains for 2 weeks... constant dull pain in my lower right back for 2 days...
Avatar m tn Hi, This may be referred pain from the swollen ureter. I suggest that you have a follow up consult with your physician. For how long have you been having the pain? Has it been a month since your last ultrasound? A repeat ultrasound may be done just to assess if the swelling is still present. You may also ask your physician for an appropriate pain reliever which could help alleviate the pain. Continue adequate water intake and keep a balanced meal rich in fruits and vegetables.
Avatar n tn Why, with most elderly people, they become like vegetables in the long run. How do I know, easy, I am about to hit the age 80 mark next month. I have been hooked and it is one wish with me.......to get off these crutches. My Kingdom is not of this world said the great teacher, Christ Jesus, here we can stand right back and take a look at what he meant. Just read Adams-v- Hoffman La Roche. They are not concerned with helping people, sick or not, but are just concerned with making money.
Avatar f tn I have a kidney disease which causes me to pass several kidney stones a month. Not only do I have the pain when passing a stone but due to the disease have constant chronic pain even when not passing a stone. My pain specialist, nephrologist and primary physician have me taking 2-15mg MS Contin and 4-7.5/325mg Percocet daily along with up to 4-50mg Demerol when needed for more severe pain. I've been taking these medications for approximately 6 plus years.
Avatar f tn Drink lots of warm water, and do kapalbhati pranayam for more than 20 minutes, twice a day. In a few weeks, the kidney stones will be flushed out. After the stones are out, let me know what other benefits you noticed, and I will suggest some techniques to stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid. Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute. Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second.
Avatar f tn My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
