Avatar f tn Surgical therapy for stones is reserved, if the stones do not pass and are causing an obstruction to flow of urine or if they cause repeated infections or if they are too large to pass through. So, besides adopting lifestyle measures and taking medications, monitoring may be essential to see for any changes in size. Discuss the possibilities with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist to determine the type of stone. Treatment modes include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneoud nephrolithotomy. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn If you went to the ER, how many stones did they tell you that they saw in the cat scan that you had TOTAL?. I notice that you said they found 3 X 3 stones (plural), indicating more than one 3 X 3 stone. Am I correct in assuming that from what you wrote? If you had more than one stone, then yes, it's very possible that you could continue to have pain and discomfort until all the stones you have completely pass.
Avatar f tn I got my stones for the first time while pregnant. It was miserably painful! I guess I passed it because it settled off and the pain went away. Then when my baby was about 6 months old, I had one move in my other kidney. It was miserable again. After much running, walking, bouncing, and flooding my system with water, I finally passed it right before the urologist got his chance to fish it out! I was sooo relieved!
Avatar f tn Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks.I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Not kidding it IS worse than having a baby. MY ob said they don't effect the baby at all and pregnant women are more prone to getting them.had any body else had this problem.
Avatar f tn s being done with me standard protocol? Is it normally this painful? Does this mean kidney stones I pass hurt more then other people's kidney stones with larger ureters? I was never told that this could be the outcome of my surgery and that I would need subsequent surgery to get rid of these stones. Thank you for any advise you can lend.
Avatar m tn If gone untreated over a time period such as mine, can stones lead to kidney failure? Any knowledge of this subject would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn go see a urologist or nephrologist as soon as you can or strain urine at home everytime you pee till pain is completely gone. some stones take forever to pass and others are quick. its good to know what kind of stone you have to try to prevent another. good luck.
Avatar m tn In the last month I had to go to the ER for kidney stones. After taking a CAT scan it showed that I have several stones still in my kidneys. I have an appointment with a kidney doctor who is a stone specialist according to my uroligist. However the appointment isn't until April. So i am sitting here hoping not to have another problem until then. Anyone had the same problem as me. As for my stones most are very small (2 mm).
Avatar m tn The pain of kidney stones are excruciating for some and others feel nothing, depending on the size of the stone. The pain comes from the stone moving down from the kidney to the bladder via the ureter. Once it is in the bladder, usually you shouldn't experience any pain . Drink lots of water!!! This is the only way to flush them out. You will never know if you have passed it out in your urine unless you strain it.
Avatar f tn The biggest problem with kidney stones is inducing labor since your body is in distress I have a history of them and my ob told Mr if I feel like I'm having kidney pain to go to the hospital right away just to be safe they will usually keep you over night and make sure you pass them they don't directly affect the baby
Avatar f tn Well I had really bad pain on my left side to the point I was crying so I went to the hospital and there keeping me over night to pass my kidney stones. Anyone else gone through this?
Avatar f tn I am a 60 yr old female with extensive history of kidney stones since 1978 (before lithotrypsy), recurrent infections & blood in urine. I am prone to both calcium stones & uric acid stones. First kidney stone was size of a walnut & could not pass so was removed by actual surgery. Over the yrs I experienced more stones that would not pass so more surgeries. Have developed scar tissue in both ureters & have had 2 stents. Extreme pain so stent removal.
Avatar f tn Hello. This is the info I have on lemon juice to dissolve small kidney stones. Drinking four ounces of reconstituted lemon juice in two liters of water per day. Try that. 1 Tablespoon is an ounce, so 4 Tablespoons of lemon juice in water over the course of the day. I don't know what dose of Vitamin C you take but high doses should be avoided as they are associated with the most common type of kidney stone formation. The amount in your multi vitamin probably is not a high dose.
1732205 tn?1310212506 Kidney stones measuring less than 4 to 5 millimeters in size almost always ( around 90 %) pass on their own while stones larger than 6 millimeters can not pass on their own most of the time. The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. You may benefit from drinking plenty of water, proper diet and regular follow-up with your doctor. Take care and best regards.
