Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
994817 tn?1249738278 My doctor wants to put me on anti-depressant (anti-anxiety) medication. I'm not sure which ones. Anyway, she said the first two weeks were harsh cause your body is getting used to the medicine. But I just started school and can't really deal with that so I'm holding off on the medicine till I see what a psychiatrist thinks. I have an app. with one very soon. Well, I have pretty severe anxiety. Let me tell you! My heart just NEVER stops racing and pounding!!!
Avatar f tn Since they are in the same family of drugs, you really shouldn't have any side effects. I went off propanol onto Toprol XL, both beta blockers with no issues at all. The problem may be in the dosage or even the fact it's a generic. I find the generic not to be as effective as the brand but perhaps that's just me. I suggest you call the doctor or pharmacist. You are on a very low dose. I take 50mg of Toprol XL twice daily and that does not totally keep the SVT under control.
Avatar n tn what is GAD? the doctor prescribed propranolol but i dont know how it will work or how i will react to this pill.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar n tn There is also very well accepted and researched proof that augmenting drugs with more drugs does work better than taking one drug when that one drug doesn't do the job well enough. Whether that's a good idea or not for other reasons is a different issue.
Avatar f tn yes i have took it for mine yes it does help, does it stop them all together NO, you will still have them from time to time. there are months i don't have one, there are days i have them 10 hours straight, every 4-8 heart beat. so you can never tell what they will do first week it will make you tired but as your body gets use to it , you wont feel tired.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
778037 tn?1377986200 how long does it take for this to start working? Is it days, weeks? I have been taking it since Thursday and no relief yet. I will give it time...
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? The extended-release propranolol usually is taken once a day. As long as you take it at around the same time every day, there is nothing to be worried about. It is best that you take propranolol exactly as directed by your doctor. Take care and best regards.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar n tn and methimazole 10mg 1 time per day. how long does this take to work. sometimes im not sure if it is my thyroid or just plain anxiety. please help!!
Avatar f tn How long does withdrawal from beta blockers usually last? I don't have any money to refill my propranolol prescription and haven't had it in 4 months. I was taking it for arrhythmias and high BP (160mg XR propranolol with 180mg XR diltiazam daily) and when I ran out 4 months ago I just kept taking the Dilt. hoping the symptoms were just withdrawals and that they would go away... Symptoms are what you would think, I'm just curious if to someone with similar conditions (i.

2010625 tn?1329372056 I am not sure the cogentin is working though. Does it take a while for the cogentin to build up in the system before it starts working good? Or does the akathisia go away once you get use to the new med? I think it might be getting worse first it was just my leg shaking, tapping my fingers, and clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth a bit. Now it is so bad I can barely type because my hands are so fidgety. My tongue is twitching and my lips too now.
Avatar n tn If you will get a prescription for an O2 tank, and use it for 15 minutes at a time. You might be surprised how it will work. I take Propanolol 240 ER for my migraines, but they are regular ones.
Avatar f tn Does Propranolol...does that beta blocker make you have major mood swings?....I am having that and wondering if it is this pills doing it to me....does anybody no if they do that to u?
968908 tn?1274871115 Was just wondering does amiltriptyline work in the same way as SSRI's? Took my first one last night and after an hour of taking it i was getting the same feelings of intense pressure in my reflexes and my lower back which i also get with SSRI's. This stops me from walking properly and causes extreme internal irritablity and makes me feel like i will have a seizure.
Avatar f tn I slowly got off propranolol 2 weeks ago after my surgery for hyperthyroid and after i did i starting getting really bad anxiety attacks, this whole week has been horrible, from day to night i havnt been able to relax. How long does it take for someones body to adjust off being used to propranolol? Any one else have this problem?
10610562 tn?1411418414 Is there a way to lower the dosage of propranolol? maybe try to titre it down to where it still helps with the symptoms but has the least affect on the asthma? sorry out of my realm of knowledge. hopefully someone else has some tips.
Avatar n tn Many people are perscribed propranolol for dealing with cocaine problems. How does it raise my blood pressure but lower my heart rate? That part doesn't make sense to me. I know i should stop and i'm making efforts to stop, however i always thought the propranolol would save my life because it reduces my heart rate.
Avatar f tn Not sure how to edit my question above but I also take Metroprolol 25 mg ER (split in half twice a day) and Propranolol 50 mg at night. The Propranolol was added about 8 weeks ago when I was complaining of the high heart rate at night plus higher blood pressure.
1828749 tn?1317778518 Im so scared to start taking it, my question is does anyone take this drug for either of these conditions and does it work? Any information on these conditions and or drugs will be greatly appriciated.
