Avatar n tn Yesterday I went to his office and he reviewed the results carefully. Luckily, I do not have PCOS. The blood work only revealed high levels of testosterone (although still within the normal range). I have noticed that my libido is usually pretty high. That does not bother me, quite the opposite :). My main problem is facial hair (upper lip, sideburns, and some chin), as well as increased body hair. I know that without it I would be a happier person.

Avatar m tn High testosterone levels in women are often caused by PCOS (Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome). This is a benign condition which results in irregular or missed periods, excessive hair growth on the face and body and so on. Extremely high testosterone levels can also be caused by androgen-secreting tumors, located in adrenal glands. These are usually benign but in rare cases may also be malignant. Please keep us updated! Best of luck, E.B.
Avatar m tn t care as long as were in that range, me and you are not really average for our age, we are really about average for a 45 year old, but for a 20 year old no, a 20 year old should be at least in the 700s, if not 800s, there is a reason why most doctors prescribe there patients doses of 700ng/dl or 800 of testosterone, its because that is what is considered by many to be optimal for most men, so what I dont understand why do doctors think its okay for us 20 year olds to be in the 400s, but then th
Avatar f tn Hey! My blood tests show that my testosterone is too high, though I don't know what is causing this. My doc wanted to say it is pcos but my estrogen levels are ok. And I'm very thin. Although I am breaking out from sugar and too much processed food, so maybe it has something to do with insulin intolerance? No one in my family has this problem. So what should I do, which doctor to turn to?
1320252 tn?1290190343 I read a couple of online sites, and most of them are giving me numbers with anything under 70 for women.
1131112 tn?1321040173 I have also had 7 pregnancy losses and have read that high testosterone can cause miscarriages too. I googled how to bring down testosterone levels and found a study that had been done with a group of women with high levels and they gave them spearmint tea to drink for about a month. After that month all the womens testosterone levels had dropped significantly. I am drinking the tea and will get my levels checked again in a month or so. Don't drink more than two cups a day though.
Avatar f tn That makes me wonder if he went thru a normal puberty - normally, guys going thru puberty have very high levels of testosterone, frequent erections (even without stimulation, such as sitting in class), and pretty much an overwhelming desire to ‘satisfy the sexual itch’, so to speak, so it seems really unusual NOT to want to masturbate. In that regard, has he ever had his testosterone level checked?
Avatar m tn t fix my testosterone because even with lower TSH levels my testosterone was still low-average. Sorry for the long story and maybe bad grammar but I'm desperate and from Holland. lol.
Avatar f tn I have a 21 yr male who has low testosterone levels and high estrogen levels. He has gynecomastitis, overweight, depressed, and insomnia. Any advice on treatment option!
Avatar m tn When Life Extension conducted a study of its members free testosterone blood levels two years ago, a startling 86% of the men had less than 15 pg/mL of free testosterone, placing them at high risk for virtually every age-related disease. Free testosterone is the biologically active form of this hormone measured in the blood.
Avatar n tn I take Excedrin on a daily basis due to migraines and I do drink alcohol in the evenings, but that is all I do and have ever done. Is it possible that my body produces extremely high levels of testosterone naturally? If so, is this ok or is something wrong with me? I'm a male, 37 yrs old, 185 lbs, with a history of swollen prostate and extreme pain in my testicles. ANy help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I thought maybe boy at first because of high testosterone levels, but when I found less than usual was actually available to my body (much was bound up by sex hormone binding globulin which means it's inaccessible to the body), I thought maybe girl. We ended up having a girl! :) Please do talk to your doc to see if you need a supplement though, as low progesterone is potentially concerning. Best of luck to you, mama!
Avatar m tn it was like traveling at 100 mph and coming to a complete standstill (not depressed then) all signs pointed to low testosterone levels, but my testosterone levels were actually on the high side as well as my free testosterone. other wise i am in perfect health. i did suffer from "depression" so 2 years ago my doc put me on wellbutrin and he said that it should increase my libido, but all has stayed the same.
Avatar n tn So, is it possible high testosterone could cause low libido? It would seem not - but... in thinking of something being out of balance, who's to say the same symptom could happen?
Avatar m tn I AM 69 YEARS OLD MALE. MY SGOT IN JAN. WAS 52 & SGPT WAS 54. IN MAR SGOT WAS 48 & SGPT 45. MY VA DOCTOR STOPPED MY TESTOSTERONE TREATMENT STATING MY HIGH LIVER FUNCTION TEST. I HAVE 3 BEERS A WEEK. DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS DR.'s ACTIONS?
Avatar m tn You should evaluate T value against LH and FSH values to know if your brain considers your T value as low or high. Again, your eastrogen levels, prolactine, cortisole, thyroid and SHBG levels can modulate and influence the effects of a given T level in our body. When you have mentioned about the injuiry of testicles, what kind of accident you were exposed to ? Is there a possibility that the accident caused injuiry to any other internal body part like liver, brain etc.
484508 tn?1290010544 The pills are associated with liver tumors and the shots give extremely high levels of testosterone, much high than is normal. Thus, the gels are your best bet, in my opinion. You'll need your testosterone level repeated on treatment to make sure that you levels on treatment are in the normal range. S.A.Liroff, M.D. Depression, lack of energy, loss of sexual interest, may be symptoms of low testosterone. Your physician has wisely chosen to repeat the test to confirm the value.
Avatar m tn Whereas the diets high in protein, or the diets high in polyunsaturated fats, both reduced testosterone levels in a pretty much dose dependent manner. The researchers also saw that the higher the dietary fat intake, the higher the testosterone (diet containing mixed fats). b) The data of the study above is consistent with the results that are seen in vegan/vegetarian studies. Vegetarians eat lower amounts of dietary fat, and their PUFA/SFA ratio is higher than what is seen in most omnivores.
