Avatar f tn A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc. and even more in women than men, so the only true way to know if you had abnormally low levels would have been to test you a lot, not just twice. You did have the same levels twice, so it might be a problem. A question would be, how's your sexual desire? How's your stamina? How's your ability to build muscle? How's your energy levels?
Avatar m tn Whereas the diets high in protein, or the diets high in polyunsaturated fats, both reduced testosterone levels in a pretty much dose dependent manner. The researchers also saw that the higher the dietary fat intake, the higher the testosterone (diet containing mixed fats). b) The data of the study above is consistent with the results that are seen in vegan/vegetarian studies. Vegetarians eat lower amounts of dietary fat, and their PUFA/SFA ratio is higher than what is seen in most omnivores.
Avatar f tn I am being treated with this with Hydrocortone but with this my testosterone levels is low as is my Free Androgen Index is also low. I am now on transdermal patch of testosterone to try to ignite my libido which has been non-exsistent for years. the dose of 300mg is not enough but my doctor does not want to up dosage. I would like to have a healthy sex life and my marriage is definitely suffering due to this. anyone got any answers to this for me?
Avatar n tn Hi, Medications can add to urological problems in regards to ED, but I have not heard of it causing low testosterone levels. I would not rule it out. Ask your doctor about treatment with testosterone injections. I was born with undecended testes. The left one came down with in the first 6 months, but the right one not untill I was 12. Later due to an infection after surgery, I had my left testicle removed. Just prior to that I was experiencing problems with ED.
Avatar n tn m not a MD.,just giving my own experience. It seems your testosterone levels are low in my opinion. It doesn't make sense to me that someone can have almost 10 times the testosterone level as another person and still it falls in the "normal" range. My total testosterone was 157 and my MD. said that is normal. I found another MD. who prescribed testosterone injections, and I feel 100% better. I suggest you go to the site thehiddendisease.com.
Avatar n tn Yesterday I went to his office and he reviewed the results carefully. Luckily, I do not have PCOS. The blood work only revealed high levels of testosterone (although still within the normal range). I have noticed that my libido is usually pretty high. That does not bother me, quite the opposite :). My main problem is facial hair (upper lip, sideburns, and some chin), as well as increased body hair. I know that without it I would be a happier person.
216278 tn?1308861082 I had my one and only BFP in Jan. 07 (ended with blighted ovum)...my O+7 progesterone test was 58.7 (a good indicator to the nurse that I was indeed preggers). I know every woman gets different numbers for progesterone with positive results, but my question is can the same woman get extremely different numbers for different pregnancies?? I am wondering if I am always out of the game as soon as I get my O+7 tests and they aren't that high?? Do you see where I am getting at?
Avatar m tn Hello, Changes in testosterone levels occur naturally during sleep, both in men and women. Testosterone levels rise during sleep and decrease during waking hours. Studies have shown that low testosterone levels frequently occur in men with obstructive sleep apnea. Treating obstructive sleep apnea should improve the levels of testosterone but other causes of low testosterone also need to e ruled out.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone had any tricks to regulate your period so I can figure out when I'm ovulating? I don't want to take any drugs, my doctor put me on metformin because she said I have polycystic ovaries but I don't know. My testosterone levels are a little high I guess. I stopped taking birth control on December 28th and had my first period on April 7th and just had my second on June 7th. So they are getting closer but still not good enough. I just wanna be pregnant!!!
Avatar n tn I have been going through a very similar situation and recently came across some information about chronic blepharitis and low testosterone levels. (Yes, even women need a certain level of testosterone.) It would make sense in your case that the pregnancy/difficult labor could worsen hormone imbalance, as could other stressful situations. Have you ever had your hormone levels checked, including testosterone? If not, do it! Mine, like so many other women, was totally in the toilet.
Avatar m tn High testosterone levels in women are often caused by PCOS (Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome). This is a benign condition which results in irregular or missed periods, excessive hair growth on the face and body and so on. Extremely high testosterone levels can also be caused by androgen-secreting tumors, located in adrenal glands. These are usually benign but in rare cases may also be malignant. Please keep us updated! Best of luck, E.B.

1419848 tn?1283643589 Drink herbal teas or consume them in capsule or tincture form to help you lower your testosterone levels. Perhaps one of the best (and tastiest) herbs for correcting this problem is spearmint. Studies performed at the Suleyman Demirel University in Isparta, Turkey, show that women drinking two cups of spearmint tea for five days significantly lowered their androgen levels.
Avatar f tn Long term pain management with opiates cause sexual dysfunction of 50% of all patients, both men and women. It causes testosterone deficiencies in both men and women, which is called hypogonadism. Docs are supposed to monitor testosterone levels, but seldom do because the topic just doesn't come up in the Doctors office. It's not just men that need to worry either, in fact it's of critical importance to women. Check it out, there's a lot more to read: pain-topics.
Avatar f tn In men, low thyroid levels can cause low testosterone.
Avatar m tn My prolactin is down, but my testosterone is now down to pre-treatment levels. Explanation? I am going to ask my endocrinologist to put me on testosterone. Pre-treatment: Prolactin: 37.2 ug/L Testosterone: 12.1 nmo/L 2 months after starting Cabergoline: Prolactin: 18.0 ug/L Testosterone: 20.9 nmo/L 6 months: Prolactin: 12.3 ug/L Testosterone: 12.2 nmo/L reference ranges: Prolactin: 3.8-20.6 ug/L Testosterone: 8.4-28.8 nmo/L All blood testing was done first thing in the morning.
Avatar m tn I was put on Cabergoline to treat a pituitary micoradenoma. It worked great; my prolactin level went way down and my testosterone shot up. I felt great! I'm about to have my 6 month follow up, and I just had my blood tested. My prolactin is down, but my testosterone is now down to pre-treatment levels. Explanation? I am going to ask my endocrinologist to put me on testosterone. Pre-treatment: Prolactin: 37.2 ug/L Testosterone: 12.
Avatar f tn Women with high testosterone levels have been studied in regard to pregnancy because high testosterone levels are a feature of PCOS. The outcomes seem to be that the risk of miscarriage is higher and the risk of low-birthweight babies is higher. But nothing I've seen says taking this for one single day will cause you to miscarry. Please talk to your ob-gyn, but stop taking the prohormones if you want to protect the pregnancy. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Levels in the high normal ranges could be too high for you or levels in the low normal ranges could be too low. If you have the exact levels and reference ranges, we'd be happy to take a look at them.
Avatar m tn It is obvious theat that the Medical community has no interest in Males and keeping their testoterone at a constant level. I am 61 and my testosterone is 1200 and my free testosterone is 3.3. I feel as good as I did in my 20's. Doctors will give women hormones everyday but thanks to the low life athelites male hormones have been labeled taboo. This has thrown the Medical Profession into the dark ages. I take herbs that have raised my testosterone from 390 to 1200 and I feel great.
