If its considerably more or less than recommended then you may consider changing your intake or you can look up a bmi calculator and that will tell you what zone your in and go from there. Keep in mind you are still growing and need more calories to compensate for that.

I've been to the ER with my heart more times than I can count. Seen two diff cardiologists & one Electrophysiologist & a neurologist. So everytime I go into the ER my ECG comes back "Abnormal" "Sinus rhythm with short PR" and "ST & T wave abnormality".

Avatar n tn If so, you need to perhaps step back on your exercise. Get to your target heart rate zone, and as you become more physically fit and you no longer reach and maintain that target heart rate with the exercises you were doing before, increase the difficulty of the exercises to get yourself into that target heart rate zone again. However, if even a small amount of exercise is getting you way above that target heart rate, I'd definitely suggest asking a doctor.

334776 tn?1249968581 i hit my 6th month today, so tomorrow i start my 7th month right? well, i have 2 calculators, and one puts me at 27 weeks today, the other says i'll be 28 weeks saturday....that's with a 28 day cycle, using the same EDD on both calculators.....so i'm really confused, as to where a good calculator is that would be right lol.....

Avatar n tn You can also use any number of target heart rate calculators to get your heart rate zone, but many of them do not incorporate your resting heart rate (which makes it a bit more accurate). Below is an example of the Karvonen formula for a 23 year old person with a resting heart rate of 65 beats per minute (to get your resting heart rate, take your pulse for one full minute.) 220 - 23 (age) = 197 197 - 65 (resting heart rate) = 132 132 65% (low end of heart rate) OR 85% (high end) = 85.
Avatar n tn What would be considered a safe heart rate while exercising? I am on meds and am obese (255lbs) down from 288. When I bike (10k) my pulse can go as high as 159. It does return to normal within 10 minutes, Resting heart rate is 89 - 90 ish. Doing housework ect it is usually 99 to 110. Is this safe. On meds for Higfh Blood pressure, Have had 2 stents put in and a stroke. Reason I'm asking is that in an effort to get off some of my meds, I stopped taking my Diltiazem., few months ago.
Avatar n tn Basically, she breaks up your heart rate into 5 zones. Zone 3 is 70-80% of your target heart rate and results in increased aerobic and cardiovascular fitness. Sounds like you are training in high Zone 4 or even Zone 5. This level is for elite athletes and should only be visited for short periods by normal folk. You may want to spend more time doing light cardio. I agree with greendave, as a lot of us go full out and end up sustaining an injury or something worse.
Avatar n tn Zone 3 (70-80% of your target heart rate) will give you improvements in cardio fitness and help to lower your heart rate. Get a heart rate monitor to follow heart rate. When I used to work out, I was in Zone 4 and even 5 too often and overtrained. This Heart Zone training has helped me out in lowering my blood pressure and keeping an eye on my pulse rate. I would strongly encourage you to adopt an exercise program. Hope things get better.
Avatar n tn well ladies my 2ww is over. unfortunately my test said neg. my heart is sadden, because it was such a smooth cycle with symptoms. we r still being prayful as God works miracles. so we shall see. no tears though. God has his season. not ever giving up!
Avatar f tn Excercise at least 30 minutes a day and get your heart rate into the fat burning zone based on your age. For me, my weight range is 135-165. My body is naturally stabilizing at 155. But I do cardio and weight train everyday. The weight training is very important as it builds lean body mass and that is what makes you look good. Not your overall weight. If you just lost a lot of weight like me, you may have excess skin and that can only be corrected by surgery.

The formula involves using your maximum heart rate (MHR) minus your age to come up with a target heart rate range (which is a percentage of your MHR).
