Avatar m tn Recently I had a heart Cath. Good news was no Blokages. My doctor did say that I had "jhkjskjfkjkkc" or basically some some vessell desiese in my heart and the pressure inside my heart was to high. He said there was no damage to my heart and everything looked good but said we needed to reverse the pressure in my heart. He put me on a beta blocker to lower my blood pressure and Hydroclorthiazide and told me to limit my sodium intake and everything should be good. Does this sound right.?
Avatar f tn Today I discovered that the salt I use and thought had iodine has exponentially less than "Iodized" salt. Earlier in the week discovered that cajun spices I use, that I often use instead of salt, also has no iodine. No wonder my thyroid is wonky!
Avatar f tn Americans normally consume from 8-10gms a day which is very high. If you avoid adding additional salt to your food at meals that would help you cut 1/2 to 1/3 of your sodium content a day. Add additional spices such as pepper, garlic (not garlic salt), lemon, and onion to name a few. Sodium content is high in all our convenience and prepackaged foods, cold cuts, smoked meats (smoked ham, bacon, etc), canned foods (soups, stews, vegetables, etc), and cheeses.
Avatar n tn Are you restricting salt? Any increased salt in your diet will cause a rise in BP.
967168 tn?1477584489 Head rush I don't get, but that may be from your blood volume increasing. Salt is notorious for causing stomach upset. It has improved over time (years) for me, but I also don't use much from the shaker. I eat high salt foods and soup broth, and if I add a lot of salt to food I'm preparing, I use Kosher/pickling/sea salt. It doesn't have all the silica and other additives, and for whatever reason doesn't upset my stomach as much, nor does it taste as bad.
Avatar n tn NHW diet mentioned "no salt", Dr. Simeons's protocol did not promote salt elimination and moderate consumption is ok. What do you guys think? I think small amount of salt is ok. Also, what about occasional beer?
745393 tn?1345077196 saw heart doctor april 7. test came out ok!. watch that salt. Today april 10. I feel ok. Thank you GOD.
Avatar n tn i honestly don't know much about heart attacks or why he is feeling cold. But if I were you, keep him on a STRICT low sodium diet. If he likes salt, there is a salt substitute my step-mom bought me called "No-salt, sodium free salt". Limit his salt intake to less than 4 grams a day, the less the better. Grilled chicken/grilled fish are great meals for him. Also, try to take it easy and keep things calm for him.

Avatar f tn I am supposedly 5 weeks pregnant. 3 drug store tests say yes. I do not have an appointment for another week & a half to confirm it. I'm worried because I have absolutely no breast tenderness. Is that normal or should I have it by now??? It seems to be the most common side effect....
Avatar m tn Because you have an enlarged heart you have to be very strict with your diet. No processed foods, no lunch meat, no smoked meat, no hotdogs, no canned foods (full of salt). No eating out in restaurants especially fast food restaurants (full of salt and fat). Eat bread and potato without butter or margarine. If you eat organic vegetables, they taste a lot better and feel a lot better on the stomach and digestion. Blood pressure needs to stay down, along with cholesterol.
2046193 tn?1330108564 Dietary restrictions are important in heart failure. Specifically, salt restriction is key. Avoid canned soups and vegetables. Don't add salt to your food. Avoid lunch meats. Fluid restriction is also emphasized -- generally to less than 2 liters of liquid per day. The amount of exercise he is allowed to do and his ability to return to work depend on his functional limitations and how weak the heart is.
