Avatar m tn I did recently break out in a rash on by back, both flanks which is vrey rare for me to break out, almost looked like chicken pox/shingles but span's about 8-10 inches on either side with dispersed pustules. This may be a far cry from just typical Generalized Anxiety but its worth looking into. I was considering going gluten- free for a week and seeing if i would notice a difference although I'm unsure when the symptoms would decrease after that change. thank you again for your assistance!!
Avatar f tn I do try strategies like breathing, affirmation and exposure. But I have mostly generalized anxiety which is harder to get a handle on than scenario specific anxiety I think. It does seem to be improving with the sertraline and therapy, but I still have really, really low or anxious days. Working on it.
Avatar f tn That is a huge sum of money and sadly, most of these people were still suffering from the same anxiety; in some cases, the anxiety continued to get worse over the years. I don't advocate a medicine-only approach to psychiatry, but in the case of GAD, or any acute anxiety disorder I do try to impress by any means the necessity of getting treatment as quickly as possible. Untreated anxiety can lead to syndromes related to post-traumatic stress disorder.
Avatar f tn Hi guys, first time posting here. So I have Generalized Anxiety, and some health anxiety. My main concern with my health has been my heart. I had my first panic attack in November and since then I have not been the same. I used to be very fit. I would run 2 miles a day. Go hiking and never be indoors. After my panic attack that all changed. I started having chest pains. Palpitations, stinging pains.
Avatar f tn But if your problem is confined to public speaking anxiety, the most common kind, and it's not a generalized problem, I'd probably start by seeing a therapist or other professional who specializes in treating this problem, or maybe taking a public speaking course and practicing until you lose your fear of it. Or learning some CBT type techniques of relaxation and demystifying the situation.
Avatar m tn What are the best medications that people have tried for Generalized Anxiety Disorder? I have what seems to be constant anxiety related to health problems (still determining if they are imagined, real, or a bit of both), and had been put on Ativan .5 mg to help with night sweats (worked for about 2 weeks), and now Xanax (works during the day but does not help at night), and am trying Zoloft 25 mg (which seems to worsen the night sweats).
Avatar m tn I over-analyze everything such as my pulse, funny feelings in my arms, my eyesight blurring, etc. I went to a few doctors and they told me I have generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. They prescribed me pills to take but I quit them all because they all cause horrible sexual side effects that just create more problems.
Avatar f tn I wish I could give a glimmer of hope. I have almost all the symptoms. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. I have had it since I was 19. I have been on many different meds, psycho therapy ect, I am now 33 and still have the anxiety. The only thing that works is getting drunk and poof the anxiety magically goes away. I traded one problem for for another. I know being a drunkard is terrible but omg its so much better then feeling like im dying every day.
Avatar m tn You have nothing to lose. Please know I have suffered from panic attacks 40,000 feet in the air, generalized anxiety attacks where I felt I wanted to bite my tongue, nightmares and on and on. Anxiety is an old friend of mine, believe me. Not in order of importance, I will begin...only one tip at a time, please. 1. Within 90 seconds of awakening, drink 8 oz of water, I can't tell you how much dehydration mimics anxiety. 2. (I lied about only one).
Avatar m tn This woman gave me some medication made from herbs that helps relieve anxiety and it seems to be working. I just want to be reassured or reccomended to someone. Whenever i try to remember something, i think i cant remember it, and then it stops me from concentrating on remebering it and then i am convinced that i cant remember it. I also keep twitching in my legs and sometimes arms. Sometimes it is just an odd twitch and sometimes it is like a throbbing.
Avatar n tn hi i am 25 years old, and have had generalized anxiety disorder for about a year. i struggle daily with symptoms of anxiety like chest pain, shortness of breath, and obsessive thoughts of dying. i take 15mg of buspar twice a day and feel comfortable with that but my doctor wants me to start taking 20 mg of paxil a day. i am horrifired that if i take it that i will die. my main concern is the reaction it will have with my buspar.
Avatar n tn I could go without for a few days and feel fine. About a year ago I noticed some anxiety. In the last half year I found it getting worse and never realized I was bringing it on from drinking. The anxiety seemed managable while drinking but every two or three days without I would feel the need more. I found out 3 months ago that my gf was pregnant, this led to more drinking to relax. After feeling pretty crappy about everything I decided to quit.
653169 tn?1303449969 I have generalized anxiety and Insomnia that are usually well controlled, but lately are not. I have not slept hardly at all for 3 days. I've gotten 1-2 total hours on average a night with no REM sleep. My anxiety is terrible, and the longer I don't get adequate sleep the worse its getting. I take ambien and klonopin 1mg twice daily. Has anyone got any suggestions? I would appreciate anyone's comments or further questions. My meds help, but obviously are not fully effective currently.
446896 tn?1237806342 And I had a prednisone solution to wipe on the spot twice a day- I found later is was systemic to my fingers also. So I have had a lot of this drug injected into me recently. I have generalized anxiety, gained 12 pounds looks like mainly in my chest (I never have a full chest) which stayed bloated, my breathing was often labored, and there is now low grade wheezing - maybe my chamomile teas are backfiring I hear (I have typical seasonal allergies).
Avatar n tn I've been suffering from generalized anxiety since 1998 and now a clonazepam dependent. Feel better now a days but I am still desperately searching for my real self, I mean, the way I was when anxiety was not yet controlling my mind and body. Don't you feel it too? That the REAL YOU is not there anymore, no where to be found? Don't you always say to yourself, "This is NOT me!" What do you think, guys, will we ever get back to our own world before?
Avatar n tn Feel like a pin cushion from all the blood work - again all within normal ranges. My psychologist insists anxiety is the culprit. Though I have been under a fair amount of stress with work and family, can these pains linger around for this long just from anxiety? They come and go throughout the day and are very disruptive to my thinking of 'what's going on with me? - which I'm guessing only breeds more anxiety. The only other med I'm on is Lipitor for cholestorol.
Avatar m tn Hi I have had panic attacks/anxiety for about 6 months now and in the past month they have gotten extremely worse. When i read your thing it felt like i was reading something i wrote.. i too am 20 yrs old and i weigh about 105. I lost weight due to the anxiety. I have been in and out of the doctor now for a month and like you , everything is normal. My symptoms feel like something is seriously wrong though and i also thought i had cancer, diabetes and everything else in the world!
Avatar m tn This isn't really a question, it's more or less a walkthrough of what I am going through with anxiety problems and alcoholism in hopes that it might help someone out there. Had I read online about how common anxiety attacks after a night of drinking are, maybe I could have started my road to recovery sooner, and maybe some of you can.
Avatar n tn Hi, My name is Stephanie and I am a 21 year old college student, with no history of anxiety problems (however my mom has problems w/anxiety. Recently I have been having extreme anxiety concerning my health (which started about 2 1/2 months ago when I briefly passed out while getting up too quickly from bed.) The week after that happened, I began having all sorts of problems, such as feeling dizzy, light headed, ringing in the ears, and going numb in my hands/feet.
Avatar f tn I wanted to let you know that what you are feeling are very classic symptoms of anxiety disorders like panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. I've had similar symptoms and they can be very common in the anxiety community. Obsessive compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder (forgive me if you already know everything I am writing, I wanted to let you know just in case you didn't know) and it is very common to have it alongside other anxiety conditions.
480448 tn?1426952138 ONE important thing to remember that I learned, and have never forgotten is that these two effects CANNOT exist without anxiety.....but that anxiety can exist without these sensations. Derealization is basically a change, an alteration in the PERCEPTION or experience of the external world....in other words...everything LOOKS very strange, very "unreal" (movie like, in my experiences). Depersonalization is a subjective experience of unreality of one's self. So the difference is...
168348 tn?1379360675 When I was asked to make an appearance here, the initial thrust was that I might be able to impart some ideas about "techniques" to deal with panic, aside from medications. I am totally unqualified to discuss medications. There's a little break in the action just now, so let me tell you a bit about myself and where "my head is" on anxiety and panic. My principle qualification to say anything at all about anxiety is personal experience and recovery.
Avatar f tn I have developed generalized anxiety disorder. ONe day I was at work and everything was fine, the nest day I was in my living room thinking I was having a stroke and I haven't been the same since. The neurologist said it was pressure releasing from a plane ride a few days before. I was also on Topamax at the time. I told the doctor I wanted to get off of it just in case it had something to do with this sudden pressure change aso he told me to start taking 25 every other day.
Avatar m tn sales woman, I weigh about 200 lbs (not happy about) and I have a 20 yr old son who suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder...so I am dealing with that too. Any advice on trying Good Days?
Avatar m tn Also, this is the Anxiety forum, and Effexor is more for depression, though it can be helpful if the anxiety is the result of depression as it very often is. St. John's Wort is only for depression, not for anxiety, and taking one herb probably won't help you if your problem was so bad you actually needed the Effexor.
Avatar f tn Is it just generalized or are there triggers? I think if you work on the anxiety, this may be your best course of action rather than just trying to get to sleep with sleeping pills. It's hard though because lack of sleep can compound anxiety. I get it. Short term fix are pills and you may go that route but long term you have to investigate the anxiety more closely. That's the root. I agree with Paxiled that I'd look into therapy for sure.
4382497 tn?1355812021 You may be dealing with panic disorder...that would be my hunch anyway, from what you have described. There is also GAD, or generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and many more. Once you get a diagnosis, the doc will discuss treatment options with you. The most common method of treating anxiety disorders is with medications (usually an antidepressant, possibly with an "as needed" anxiolytic, like Xanax, ar Ativan), and therapy.
339226 tn?1201271807 The answer is a resounding YES!!!!!!!! That is what it is like to have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I'm no doctor but those are all symptoms I have and that was the diagnoses my psychiatrist gave me. Actually my diagnoses was GAD with panic attacks, to be specific. The diarrhea is my not so private hell. Makes life a little difficult to leave the house especially since I'm somewhat agoriphobic that it becomes an easy excuse not to go out.
Avatar n tn After eating a fatty meal or sometimes coffee, I experience bloating, upper right quadrant pain and generalized spasm. I am experiencing fatigue and I'm unable to perform strenuous exercise or work-out since it makes my body more fatigued and not stronger. I've been to an acupuncturist, chiropractor, nutrionist, taken herbs, and performed a gallbladder flush without success. My diet consists of almost no fried foods and I eat very healthy.
1700643 tn?1464850282 there are many other meds for anxiety, i was on effexor for years, for gad (generalized anxiety disorder) worked very well for me. are you in counseling? so many times anxiety is just a symptom of circumstances in your life. maybe once your are clean for awhile it could possibly get much better. do you exercising regularly? this will also help.
