Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin recall

neurontin

Avatar m tn I've had herpes for almost 30 years. I cannot recall the last time I had an outbreak, however, for the last several years I have had an mild perineal pain or irritation. Doctors have looked at all kinds of prostate and rectal issues with little conclusive result. Amitryptiline and gabapentin are effective at reducing the irritation. Is it possible after all this time that tis neuropathy is a result of the virus?
Avatar m tn Question for everyone....I am taking Gabapentin for "permanent" sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar f tn They sent me home with a RX for 300mg gabapentin to be taken at bedtime each night and told me to follow up with my pcp within 2 weeks, which I did, and she wrote another RX to continue the gabapentin for another 6 month supply and told to return in late Mar for a recheck of my progress. However, the gabapentin only stopped this numbness from being constantly severe, though I could always feel it latently there, with sporadic episodes of varying severity and duration.
1218873 tn?1300091216 So by this morning the effect of reducing the gabapentin without addding the lyrica had me me in serve pain (we are at the begining of a long holiday weekend in the Uk) The thought of reducing the gaba any further was inconcievable and knowing if I didn't do something now it would be Tuesday before I could get hold of my GP. I phoned the GP's sugery and explained they got my Gp to phone back. He has agreed that i can start adding the Lyrica now! I hope this will sort me out a bit.
Avatar f tn She referred me to a pain management doctor and physical therapist and also gave me a prescription for Gabapentin (100mg...take 100mg at night for 5 days, then 200mg a night for 5 days then 300mg a night). Has anyone taken it and found it helpful? Also what about the dose? So much that I am reading discusses much higher doses and talks about taking it 3 times a day. Any insight would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.
Avatar n tn Why was c-phen dm infant drops recalled?
Avatar m tn Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
293157 tn?1285873439 Because I seem to be responding better to this latter drug, I am now slowly weaning off the gabapentin. I guess if the pain increases as I go off the gabapentin, this will tell me it was helping more than I realized. I have no side effects from the gabapentin, even at such a high dose. I do find the 50mg amitriptyline makes me very drowsy, and may need to scale it back to 40mg if this side effect continues.
Avatar f tn Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........
Avatar m tn Most of the individuals described in these reports had a history of poly-substance abuse or used Gabapentin to relieve symptoms of withdrawal from other substances. When prescribing Gabapentin carefully evaluate patients for a history of drug abuse and observe them for signs and symptoms of Gabapentin misuse or abuse (e.g. development of tolerance, self-dose escalation, and drug-seeking behavior).
4186651 tn?1357830957 Has anyone else taken Gabapentin for all of these pains neuralgia migraines? I'm petrified to take this drug because of all the bad side affects! Did it help or harm anyone? Or should I wait to see the NS first before I take it?
Avatar f tn I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.
Avatar f tn Hi could anyone help me please?
Avatar f tn I took gabapentin from... around august 2017 to... february 2018.. and then i started to take it again around september to october.. never experienced what you are describing.
Avatar n tn I was taking Gabapentin 300 mg for extreme nerve pain in my foot, it worked like magic for approx. 3 months then stopped being effective. Any Thoughts - Reasons?

Avatar f tn Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene. In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.
Avatar f tn second day without the pain pills! But the doctor today gave me gabapentin for pain is it addictive? I dont need another addiction.
Avatar f tn Hi has anyone been on gabapentin or heard of it before? I have had 3 discectomies on L4/L5 disc and now have tissue scarring leaving me with the same as before all my surgeries. I have been prescribed gabapentin this week for nerve damage in that area of my back. I am in first week on it and taking 600mg per day.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Gabapentin may help control your condition but won’t cure it. You must continue taking gabapentin even if you feel well. You must not stop taking gabapentin even if you experience side effects like unusual changes in behavior or mood. If you suddenly stop taking gabapentin, you may experience withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, nausea. Your doctor would decrease the dose gradually over at least one week.
Avatar f tn I was perscribed Gabapentin which is generic for Lyrica, I believe. I was perscribed this prior to my diagnosis and my insurance just approved it. Does this medication help w/the pain or what? I have never taken this before and don't know exactly what it is for. The doctor who prescribed it gave it to me months ago but my insurance said they didn't cover it so I just forgot about it and then I got the diagnosis and didn't think much of it after that.
Avatar f tn Hello, everyone! I am a 16-year-old girl and I take gabapentin for nerve pain (we think...) My neurologist gave me a perscription for 1800 mg per day. The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose.
