Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?
m not hopeful that increasing the dose or frequency of gabapentin will help. What can I do? Ease off gabapentin, take an itchy break of a few months, and ease back into it? I want relief! Suggestions welcome!
I have been on gabapentin for about three weeks and my back and stomach are broke out in hives or my daughterin law says they look like boils on my back .
I had a crazy weekend. Since my husband and I have the only grandchild and great grandchild in both of our families we had to go to 3 different dinners this weekend. So I am sorry I wasn't online. Oh and on Friday I had my tooth finally pulled. I had nitrous oxide and it made me sick for the entire day. The dr gave me some darvocet for the pain, but I didn't take any. Actually my husband took the bottle and ate all of them. There was only 12 so I guess its not that bad.
Anyone have any experience with gabapentin withdrawl? I found some stuff online about serious consequences from abrupt withdrawl, but nothing on shaking.

Im on celexa 20 mg for about 21 days, I also take trazodone 50mg And gabapentin 200mg 3x daily for the last week. Just started naltrexone 50mg as of today. My long time meds are for blood pressure... Amlodipine 5mg and lisinopril/HCTZ 20/25mg. Oh and lamotrigine 50 mg for the last two weeks. I quit heavy drinking a about 8 days ago reneeding hospitalization fot 4 days due to extreme withdrawal. Anyway as of today I'm noticing definite noticeable hand tremors.
I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment. I have been on (6 yrs) Gabapentin, now at 1200mg 4 times a day along with Oxycontin and breakthu oxycodone. I'm also taking Celebrex as needed Duloxetine 60 mg at night and Tizanidine 4mg twice a day, as needed, Xanax as needed. In the last month i started experiencing severe depression, insomnia, memory issues, mind fog and libido issues.
t want that much radiation and one flat out refused to do an MRI. I pointed out that I read online that Gabapentin can cause swelling. He then googled it on his iPhone and was amazed that he learned something new.This is why patients need to be proactive about their health as doctors are often less informed. My PCP felt that side of my face and agreed that it's swollen. It looks like I have more subcutaneous fat on one side than the other.
I have this same problem with my gabapentin! I do the same things as you, but I also take an over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medication as soon as the cramps start. There are pills that you can take (which is what I prefer) or you can take liquid, like Kaopectate or Malox. I'm not going to lie, the liquids are like drinking flavored chalk-water, but they work so well I just put up with it.

I have been taking 800 mg of Gabapentin 3 times a day as per my prescription. I have been taking 4 or more a day cause it won't stop bothering me. I seriously want to rip my you know what off.
I have looked online for similar stories, remedies, etc but to no avail. Every time I go to the supermarket I buy another over the counter hydrocortisone/anti itch cream/powder etc. Nothing seems to work...
Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........

I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.

I took gabapentin from... around august 2017 to... february 2018.. and then i started to take it again around september to october.. never experienced what you are describing.
I was taking Gabapentin 300 mg for extreme nerve pain in my foot, it worked like magic for approx. 3 months then stopped being effective. Any Thoughts - Reasons?
Iv ad a BAD weekend and my sisters friend who has sufferd with fibro for 11 years, advised me try gabapentin as she swears by it making her much better. Has anybody tried this medication? she also says to use sea kelp?
Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene.In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.
second day without the pain pills! But the doctor today gave me gabapentin for pain is it addictive? I dont need another addiction.
Hi has anyone been on gabapentin or heard of it before? I have had 3 discectomies on L4/L5 disc and now have tissue scarring leaving me with the same as before all my surgeries. I have been prescribed gabapentin this week for nerve damage in that area of my back. I am in first week on it and taking 600mg per day.
Hi there. Gabapentin may help control your condition but won’t cure it. You must continue taking gabapentin even if you feel well. You must not stop taking gabapentin even if you experience side effects like unusual changes in behavior or mood. If you suddenly stop taking gabapentin, you may experience withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, nausea. Your doctor would decrease the dose gradually over at least one week.
